Today we’re very happy to welcome Teresa D’Amario on Book Lovers Inc. Teresa is the author of the True Mate series. The 1st book Shewolf will be released in print at the end of the month. Let’s give a warm welcome to Teresa =)

The Latin Lover: Teresa can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

Teresa: Thank you so much for having me here. Interviews are so much fun. 😀 And I’m so excited to announce that SheWolf is coming out in print on November 30th. I hope you all grab your copy fast! Stay tuned to my website at http://teresadamario.com/ where I’ll add buy links as soon as they are available.

Now, about me: There’s not much to tell. I’m Retired US Air Force, though I still work for a “Day job” (Which is actually a night job), and am married to a wonderful man who loves that I write, and have two dogs. I live in North Carolina, where the weather rarely gets too nasty. I kinda like it here. 😀

The Latin Lover: Describe a typical day of writing? Are you a planner or pantser?

Teresa: I’m kind of half and half as a pantser and a planner. When I start a new book, I rarely know the plot. I remember for one book feeling I’d written myself into a corner in the previous book, but it turned out that “corner” created an entire, well developed plot when I thought about it. But after that initial pantsing, I plan. I think out every scene in my head. Then I sit to write. And it never comes out how I planned. LOL. But that’s okay.

My typical day of writing – I work until 1:30 am these days and so when I get off, I grab something to drink (usually a flavored water) and sit back down at the computer and write for a few hours. I can write anywhere from an hour to four hours before I stop and go to bed.

The Latin Lover: What do you think is the difference between a reader and a real Book Lover?

Teresa: Now that’s an interesting question. For me, a reader is someone who picks up books now and then, and enjoys them. They might even tell a friend. A real book lover respects not only the physical aspect (either the ebook file or the book itself) but the words on the page and the author! They live and breathe books, and you can see a lot of real book lovers out there, popping up on blogs, left and right. I love visiting blogs like that (Like this one), where I can see the joy books bring.

The Latin Lover: You spent your childhood traveling. What location holds a special place in your heart, or where would you like to return?

Teresa: This has been a question that has come up in my personal life too, lately. I do love to travel. The world is a huge and amazing place. I think the place I want to go back to the most is Egypt. Probably because I didn’t get to see everything I wanted to see when I was there. But I didn’t go to Egypt as a child, I went as an adult, with the military. The history in that country is absolutely awe inspiring. When I was a kid, I didn’t understand the importance of history, and found the roman ruins a bit dull, though castles always spoke to me. But now I understand history is a part of us, and the more history in a place I visit, the more I love it!

The Latin Lover: The cover of She Wolf is very sensual and eye catching, congratulations! Could you please tell our readers what they can expect of She Wolf?

Teresa: Oh thank you! I know both my cover artist and editor will appreciate that as well. I love it! It’s a big difference from it’s ebook cover, where it’s dark and mysterious. SheWolf is the story of Anna Calloway, a woman who owns her own veterinarian clinic, and discovers a species she never knew existed. Wolven. And one of them insists she’s one of them. So what if she can see better at night than most people, or can distinguish scents well beyond the normal human. That means nothing. But Kieran refuses to back down, or back away.

The Latin Lover: Now the hard question (this will get easier after this one, promise ;-p):
Can you tell us 3 reasons why people should read She Wolf?

Teresa: Because it’s hot. Hot. Hot. LOL Okay, I’ll get serious. Yes, SheWolf is hot, but it also is a really good story. It introduces a world hidden beneath the surface of everything we know, shaking up our believe that only humans have souls. It addresses some of our deeper desires and behaviors that appear to be wolfish, but if you look between the lines, you’ll find that maybe… Just maybe… there’s a little wolven in all of us. And yep, because it’s HOT. Kieran is very sexy.

The Latin Lover: Could you give us a short presentation of the hero/heroine of She Wolf twitter style? (140 characters tops) (they can do the presentation themselves if you’d like ;-p)

Teresa:

@AnnaCalloway: I’m a scientist who needs evidence to believe I don’t back down to anyone and I don’t appreciate playing games. But I do love a hot male!

The Latin Lover: You are a paranormal romance author. What attracted you to this genre? What is your favourite thing about this genre?

Teresa: I tell people it’s because I spent my childhood watching Dark Shadows and Star Trek. LOL. It was just the next logical step.

Book #2

The Latin Lover: Do you remember how you discovered the paranormal universe/genre?

Teresa: My first paranormal as an adult that stood out for me was by Kay Hooper – It was mostly a thriller and mystery, but the author created an FBI team that had paranormal skills. That was it for me. I saved that book, and set it aside (I was busy moving at the time) and then came back to it afterward to read more of her work. Slowly I moved outward into paranormal romances where I discovered Sherilyn Kenyon and others and it was like coming home. Welcome home Dark Shadows. LOL

The Latin Lover: And now the eternal question/debate: werewolves or vampires? And why?

Teresa: Werewolves of course! Vampires live too long, and it makes them take life differently. They are cold emotionally, and in some cases physically. I want to read about hot, powerful emotion on an instinctive level! (Ok, most of the vampires in today’s books are leaning away from the cold physically, which makes them much hotter in my book). 😀

The Latin Lover: If you were a shapeshifter what kind would you like to be and why?

Teresa: A tiger. She’s powerful and not above protecting her own. She stalks her prey, and never forgets.

The Latin Lover: What is next on your schedule? What shall we look forward to?

Teresa: Blood Moon Betrayed, the third in the True Mates series and Leopard’s Key, an anthology from the True Mate’s world. Leopard’s key will be in the Dreams and Desires, Volume 4 from Freya’s Bower, and will be released in February. I don’t have a release date for Blood Moon Betrayed yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as I do.

The Latin Lover: If you could write under a pseudonym and try your hand at something completely different, what would you like to try to write?

Teresa: Probably mysteries. I love the idea of keeping a secret from the reader, in such a way that when they get to the end they think “How did I miss that?” and go back and read.

The Latin Lover: Could you tell our readers a little trivia about yourself, something that they wouldn’t know about you?

Teresa: I’m an open book. LOL. Secrets. Let me think. I didn’t start writing till about four years ago, but every night since I was a child, I’d create a story to tell myself to help me sleep. That’s where I do my best plotting, just before I doze off.

The Latin Lover: Thank you Teresa for answering all our questions!

You still have something you want to know?
Teresa will be here today to answer your questions. So keep the questions coming or any comment about the interview. =)

  • Sharon S. November 19, 2010 at 9:31 am

Hey, I live in NC too (the triad area). I like hot alpha-male shifters so I think this series might be something I would like 😉 Look forward to trying it out

  • Teresa D'Amario November 19, 2010 at 11:19 am

    Hey RK,

LOL NO I was not a pilot. I was a weather forecaster, so briefed the pilots before each mission.

Sharon, so we aren't that far from each other. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the True Mate's series. 🙂

And thanks both of you for stopping by! You guys were both up really early. Oh wait, you didn't stay up to go see Harry Potter last nite like I did. LOL>

    Victoria,

LOL Yep. But I try to keep up on what's going on by reading the day's tweets. Sometimes I tweet during the day job, but that depends on how busy we are. 🙂

And thank you so much for choosing SheWolf in hardcopy. 😀 I can't wait till I can see it out there for everyone to order!
