Blogtour: Tara Taylor Quinn – The Chapman File Book Launch and Charity Skate

Filed in Guest Post , Tara Taylor Quinn Posted on November 26, 2010 @ 7:00 am 5 comments
We are very happy to welcome quthor Tara Taylor Quinn here at Book Lovers Inc today. Actually not she’s posting here today, rather the heroine of her popular Champan Files series, Kelly Chapman. She’s here today to talk a bit about Black Friday and to bring attention to her charity skate against domestic abuse on December 4th in Phoenix, Arizona. There’s also a chance to win books and perhaps even a Kobo reader. Please  give Kelly and Tara a warm welcome.

Happy Friday!! Expert Witness Psychologist Kelly Chapman here today, freed from the imagination of Tara Taylor Quinn. I specifically asked for this day to blog because today is the day that my story is officially released. I find it no mistake that this takes place on a day called Black Friday. It isn’t the story I imagined when Tara told me that, along with writing stories from my files as I’d asked her to do, she was also going to tell my story. But I learned a long time ago to trust in the powers that are stronger and more wise than I am. I learned that there are many things I cannot control and that my job is to leave whatever mark I can on each moment as I live it.

I’m about to learn this lesson again – on a scale I would never have imagined. (Which is why ttq is the writer and I am merely the sharer of the files.) I am a psychologist. I listen to other people talk about their lives. When I’m doing my job right, I help other people live happier more productive lives. I stay under the radar. So you can imagine what a shock it’s going to be for me to have my face suddenly plastered on national news, over the AP wire, and in the national registry for missing persons. The FBI in Washington is even going to be notified!
Today is Black Friday – and what I have to tell you is that I will soon be in utter blackness. I’m going to wake up from…I’m not sure what…in a place…I don’t know where…and the area around me is in total blackness. It won’t take me long to discover the stone beneath me, or to figure out that I’m being held captive. My arms will be twisted behind me with my wrists bound. My ankles will be similarly bound and I’m not going to be able to do anything about it. I’m going to fight for a day or more. I won’t be sure of time passage. I’ll rub at my bindings until my skin is raw and bleeding. But I won’t be able to get myself free. Eventually I’m going to give up and accept that the inevitability of death is a peaceful thing. I sit here today, writing to you all, fully knowing what is going to happen to me. And I can’t do a thing to prevent it. I can’t even warn myself. If I could, I wouldn’t go skating on that fateful day – a Friday just like this one.

You can help, though. Today, Black Friday, while you’re out frantically shopping, or on your computers frantically shopping, if you’d pick up a copy of my book, The Fourth Victim, if you read it, you’ll release me from this state of beforehand knowing into the peace I now crave. Don’t leave me hanging here in limbo. I promise, I’ll take you on a journey that you’ll be glad you took. I won’t waste your time. I’ll give you more than the value you expect. I just need you to release me. Please.
I’m Kelly Chapman. I don’t beg. I accept. But I will be eternally grateful to anyone who will help get me out of here.
This post is brought to you as part of The Chapman Files International Blog Tour. Please join us in our fight against domestic abuse. We’re hosting a charity skate/walkathon on December 4th in Phoenix, Arizona. If you can join us, we’d love to have you. Tim and ttq are skating and we’re going to have a blast. If you aren’t going to be in the area, you can still sponsor us. Please. In our downed economy domestic abuse has risen and the monies to help have dwindled. To register for the skate, or to donate any amount to the cause, click here: http://www.predatorspeed.org/, or go to http://www.tarataylorquinn.com/ and click donate.
