Book Blurb:

Dashing Lord Harry Traemore is perfectly content to live out his days in the pursuit of pleasure. But when he’s named by the Prince regent as one of society’s ‘Impossible bachelors’, Harry is drafted into a ribald romantic wager. The rules of engagement are scandalously simple: the bachelor whose mistress wins the title of ‘Most Delectable Companion’ gets to remain unmarried. Harry is utterly unconcerned about his status…until his latest lightskirt abandons him. Enter Lady Molly Fairbanks. Harry’s childhood friend – actually, ‘foe’ is more like it – is the most unlikely companion of all. She’s attractive but hot-headed, and in no mood for games. Besides, what could the self-indulgent Harry possibly know about what makes a woman delectable? It’s time for Molly to teach him a lesson once and for all…but will it lead to happily ever after?

My Thoughts:

What a wonderful book! I’m not sure I’ll find the right words to express my feelings toward this wonderful novel. I have to say that I was in a sad need of lightness when I picked this book up. I had just finished a pretty depressing books (or it’s just me being too sensitive lol). When Harry Met Molly was just exactly what I needed. This is the 1st book in the Impossible Bachelors series. If you’re like me, after reading the blurb you’ll be wondering…What the heck is this about??  Ok maybe I’m just too blond.

The prologue sets the mood for the whole book. Poor 13 years old Molly is infatuated with her sister’s fiancé and decides to ‘subtly’ declare her love in a poem at a Christmas party. She also, at the same time, reveals that she saw her sister kiss her fiancé’s brother, Harry. Sadly, this ends very badly for her and Harry. The consequences of that poem will  completely change their lives. I really loved that Molly and Harry have been enemies for years. They make pranks on each other at each family reunion. This was very cute and made me smile a lot.

The Prince regent decides one drunken night, that Harry and 3 other Impossible bachelors should marry. He then comes up with a competition, where the winner will win the right to be FREE from matching mamas and families nagging him to marry for a year. The winner will be able to stay a bachelor. One of the looser will have to marry a woman chosen for him. As you can see, you can’t take this story too seriously. This year’s competition is simple. The man with the ‘Most Delectable Companion’, aka best mistress will win.

Molly ends up being Harry’s false mistress for a week after his old mistress abandoned him on the way to the competition. I’m not telling you how it happened but it’s very funny. During the competition, the mistresses will be judged on their beauty, talents, behavior…Molly has to pretend to be a mistress and that she likes Harry which is pretty difficult for both of them. After reading what I’ve just written you must be thinking the story is a bit over the top, but no! It’s not. Molly is an amazing person,  she’s very young and impulsive but she’s very likable. She slowly wins everyone over, including Harry. I have a thing for heroes named Harry, and THIS Harry is a great addition to my collection. He is intelligent and funny and he slowly stole my heart away. This book is also filled with great secondary characters like the mistresses! How I adore Bunny!

I’ve always loved the ‘hate turning into love’ theme and hate each other they did. All because of this poem Molly wrote 10 years earlier. I laughed a lot with this book, but what made it special is the quality of the story. I’m not sure how to explain it but it felt intelligent…yes that’s it! Intelligent writing! I enjoyed every page of this book. Ah and I should say something about the smex…or rather the ‘inventive’ non-smexing *waggles eyebrows*.  Ok actually I won’t say a thing and leave you to find out by yourself *g*.

All in all, When Harry Met Molly is a wonderful book that will make you laugh and smile and wish it would never end. I already started the 2nd book in the series Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right. I can already tell you you’ll want to read it too!

I give When Harry Met Molly 5 Bookies

It does sound really cute and fun, but I am somewhat on the fence about those games they later play when she pretends to be his mistress

@Blodeuedd I know it sounds a bit much, said like that but when you start reading the story just flows. The games are really interesting to read about because Molly doesn't really try to be someone else, she shines through by being herself. And they all learn something from this experience. Loved it.
