Book blurb:

The Oedipal Complex has never been so sexy…

Alex Carradine can’t believe his father wants to come and visit his ski resort. Could it be that after so many stormy years, “slick Mitch” Carridine wants to offer an olive branch? Maybe the old man is mellowing, settling down with the new lover he’s bringing along.

Then Alex realizes the acid truth. This is no warm family visit. His father’s latest conquest is none other than the woman of Alex’s sexual fantasies, meant only to dangle tauntingly in front of his face. At least an unexpected blizzard has frozen his father out of the picture entirely.

Angeline Kastakis was looking forward to taking the next step in her relationship with Mitch. Too late she realizes she’s been led into a familial battle zone. Now it’s Christmas and she’s marooned in a blizzard with an insolent, gorgeous hunk of man whose blazing blue eyes tell her loud and clear he wants her in his bed. Preferably tied to it with a bow.

There’s no escape in sight. But as Alex stirs her secret longing to be mastered by a man, escape is the last thing on her mind.

My thoughts:  I thought with Christmas creeping closer and closer it was time for me to start reading some festive novels and get into the holiday spirit. I saw Holiday Bound recommended by Amazon in their free Kindle ebooks section and thought it would be perfect to start my Christmas reading.

I found the premise interesting but unfortunately due to length issues Beth Kery did not explore the subject as thoroughly as I would have liked.

Alex is an interesting and layered character (as layered as one can be in such a short novella), thankfully Beth Kery spends enough time to give us details about his background with his father so that the reader understands the complexity and problemacy of their relationship.

However, somehow Beth Kery forgot about Angeline along the way and left her standing there without giving us some depth into how a woman who has been going out for 2 months with a man can after only spending a couple of hours together with that man’s son sleep with him based on physical, sexual attraction. And even later, once her hormones subside, we don’t get too much of a glimpse into the workings of Angeline’s mind and feelings .

My other complaint is the ending of the novel, I found it too improbable and a cliché, and I missed that after the big showdown between Mitch, Alex and Angeline nothing was resolved: neither Mitch and Alex, or Alex and Angeline or Angeline and Mitch spoke about the problem and what to do about the situation!

Verdict: But overall the attraction between Alex and Angeline is sizzling, and the dominating yet protective alpha maleness of Alex will make anyone feel hot and bothered. A nice short book to read by the fire on a cold winter night.

The cover is a great representation of the book, so you know what to expect when starting it: Holiday Bound is a sparkly festive, sexy and saucy story 🙂

I give Holiday Bound 3.5 bookies!
