Today we have some highly anticipated novels and their covers in tow. After religiously stalking author websites, we were so excited about some of them that we just had to bring them up to your attention. The ohhhhhing, awwwwing and squeeing unnerved most of the people around us so we had to find another outlet. 😉 It’s a varied mix of genres but well you know how these book addictions work. So take a drink and join the discussion.

Caro: Alright so I read the Mortal Instruments series a few years back and I have to admit I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t relate the books if I read them now. But I can’t help but want to read City of Lost Souls. I mean come ON!!! Jace and Clary embracing on the cover? YAY They both look AWESOME! It looks romantic. *sigh*.
Same thing with The Taken. I have been traumatized by Vicki Pettersson’s books. They are great but way way WAY too dark for me. I had to stop the Zodiac series because it was just too dark. But the Taken cover is pretty awesome. First the girl’s outfit is so damn cool. (and well I love Red) And the guy’s smoky wings? Perfect! I’m completely intrigued by this cover. I’m guessing it’s set in the 50’s but who knows 😉
*squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* I am SOOOOOO excited about Tart. I already knew I’d be reading it but I didn’t know it would be a Ménage story *squeeeee* I am pretty much in love with this cover. It’s so colorful. I love love love that. I couldn’t be more happy about it. *squee*

Susi: I never read the Clare books but well the cover looks intriguing. I don’t like the rays from their skin though. Her hair is awesome- I do like the color and well the dress. *g*
I so can’t wait for the new Pettersson series. The cover looks awesome. The woman looks mysterious and I love her pose and dress. And as you said the guy in the back with his smoky wings- want like now.
I so can’t wait for Tart either. The cover looks sweet, cute and also rather daring with the too guys. And yum it has sweets. I adore how colorful it is even though there is so much pink. It just all fits perfectly. Really great cover. All thumbs up.

Susi: Well the Tricked cover is a shock to me. I adore all three previous novels in this series and the covers weren’t bad either but this dude looks like he has a drug problem and well he looks gay. His hair is all weird and in his face. *shudders* The magic he throws around is too much for the cover- perhaps a bit less on this one would have been better.

Even though it isn’t the final cover for The Iron Wyrm Affair I already need to read it. It does look awesome- a bit steampunky and the look on that girls face scream no bullshit heroine. Ms Saintcrow does know how to write a kick ass heroine so I’m really looking forward to this one.
The Boyfriend from Hell cover is really nice. Yes, yes the girl looks like a sexbomb and is thin and stuff but well it still is sexy. I do like the bike and that she has that iron thingie in her hand. Well talk about kick ass. Will keep my eyes open for the first reviews of that one.

Caro: *sob* Why, God Whyyyyyyy did they have to ruined the Iron Druid cover? *sob* The first 3 covers were so awesome, I bought the paperbacks even though I had the audiobooks because I loved the covers. But this…this is fugly. First way too much colors and swirly thingies. Then WTF is this face? O_o. No I just can’t bare to look at it. I’m pretty sure I’ll just get the Audiobook 😉 ⇐ (Yes I’m shallow like that)
Now the Lilith Saintcrow cover is very well done. It’s interesting and mysterious and I have nothing to say on the technique. I love the models attitudes. 2 thumbs up.
Can I say Ewwww? Boyfriend from Hell could have been really nice but I can’t stop starring at the unrealistic woman. I’ll give them that, the hair does look like Devil horns. But meh.

Susi: Bwahahhaahha I didn’t notice the horns before. Now it does look ridiculous.

Caro: Nom now onto the yummilicious covers! *g* While the Molly Harper cover isn’t the most sexy we’ve ever seen, I still can’t help but think of Eric Northman every time I see the cover. *drools* I wish they’d refrained from adding the obligatory fake blood on his face. I mean, Yes we get it, he drinks blood.*rolls eyes* As if the fangs and the title weren’t enough of a clue! Still I like that it stays in the line of Molly Harper’s previous Vampire book covers.
I will admit at first when I saw Succubi are Forever I when all O_O Wtf is that? Then I looked closer and I fell under its charm. g* I really love the models’ pose and it’s sexy and tender at the same time. The Black and white is awesome and well her hair is like a beacon. I love this cover. It’s the best in the series so far. I approve *g*
NOM. Wicked Nights is pretty hot. For once we have a muscled man that doesn’t look like he was on steroids. The colors are muted and I love it. I love how she’s holding him. I love how sweaty they look. Nom. Seriously I have nothing to say against it. It’s just awesome!

Susi: The Harper cover is kind of weird. My first thought was: do they know that the blood will denature if they make it hot? Pretty much useless blood then. The title color is kind of off for me too and well it does scream cliché.
I complete agree about the Succubi cover. At first I was shocked that it is so different from the rest but now I do really like it. And well I didn’t much care for the other 3 covers. Her hair is such a great contrast and it’s way sexier than the previous man titties.
The Wicked Nights cover is delicious. I adore it. Seriously makes me consider restarting this series. It is one of the Lord books, no? There skin looks awesome and all the sweatiness makes it even hotter. Yum yum yum. So wanna touch that dude. LOL

Caro’s favorite: Hard to choose! Tart, Succubi are Forever and Wicked Nights (yes I’m cheating *g*)
Least Favorite: Easy…Tricked.

Susi’s favorite: Tart for the win.
Least Favorite: I do agree here- Tricked

None of these catch my fancy I will admit.
I do love the Stalking the Others cover (Jess Haines) and of course the awesome D. dos Santos cover for Alien Diplomacy (Gini Koch)

    • Susi January 16, 2012 at 1:32 pm

Ohhh I have to say I was positively surprised by the Haines cover and well Santos is my hero. *g*

    • pattepoilue January 16, 2012 at 2:34 pm

I’ll agree with you about Dos Santos of course. He’s our cover god!

  • LSUReader January 16, 2012 at 2:26 pm

Least Fav: Boyfriend from Hell. That model looks as real as a Barbie doll and why does she need a tire iron if she’s on a motorcycle?

Favs: Iron Wyrm Affair and City of Lost Souls both look interesting.

    • pattepoilue January 16, 2012 at 2:35 pm

I know!! This cover rubs me off the wrong way. *sigh* I can’t wait to hear moe about the Lilith Saintcrow book though!

    • Susi January 17, 2012 at 4:50 am

It seems alone with that cover. LOL

  • blodeuedd January 16, 2012 at 3:53 pm

    • Susi January 17, 2012 at 4:51 am

I do agree about Wicked Nights. Yum!

    • pattepoilue January 17, 2012 at 11:25 am

Ahh finally someone else see the awfulness of that cover!!!

  • Lesley D January 16, 2012 at 6:58 pm

I was sad about the Iron Druid cover too. The first few covers were awesome, and now this. 🙁

    • Susi January 17, 2012 at 4:52 am

Yes it it pretty sad but well I’m sure the book will still rock and as Caro I will just get the audiobook so I don’t have to see the cover LOL

    • pattepoilue January 17, 2012 at 11:26 am

Hehe I’ve never been happier to have the Audiobooks LOL

  • Jan January 17, 2012 at 12:39 am

None of the covers scream ‘read me’.
Some of the authors do though.

    • Susi January 17, 2012 at 4:53 am

Well and actually the latter is what counts. I so can’t wait for the Dane. *jumps up and down*

    • pattepoilue January 17, 2012 at 11:27 am

A good cover is just a plus. I would still read the books from authors I love even if they were saddled with an ugly as ass cover (but prolly ebook *wink)

  • draconismoi January 17, 2012 at 1:44 am

I’ve never read anything by Saintcrow…..but that cover is calling to me. I hope that the final version manages to hold on to the awesome.

    • Susi January 17, 2012 at 4:54 am

You haven’t? Okay I only read her Dante Valentine books- pretty dark uf. Well the heroine is a bit whiny at times but I liked them and read them all in a week. LOL

    • pattepoilue January 17, 2012 at 11:28 am

*whispers* I haven’t read any of her books yet either! Welcome to the club

  • aurian January 17, 2012 at 3:06 am

I also hate the Kevin Hearne cover, and the Boyfriend from hell one. But I do like the Lilith Saintcrow cover, and Succubi are forever.

I am glad that I am not the only one who stopped reading the Vicki Petterson books.

    • Susi January 17, 2012 at 4:55 am

You did? Well as I told Caro the end is good- I swear. Better than I hoped actually. LOL

    • pattepoilue January 17, 2012 at 11:30 am

It really pained me to stop but yeah I couldn’t bear it anymore. Now I had Susi told me how it ended so I don’t feel so left out LMAO

  • Mary Kirkland January 17, 2012 at 9:54 am

I love the cover for The Taken…gotta love those smokey wings.

    • pattepoilue January 17, 2012 at 11:30 am

Yes!!!! For once the wings aren’t cheesy!

  • Tamsyn January 17, 2012 at 10:08 am

I love The Taken and City of Lost Souls covers. Brilliant!

    • pattepoilue January 17, 2012 at 11:31 am

I think it’s the best cover in the Clare series *g*
