Guest Post: A Conversation (in Bed) with Andrew and Gemma by Maggie Robinson + Giveaway

Filed in featured , Giveaways , Guest Post , Maggie Robinson , The Latin Lover Posted on April 18, 2012 @ 7:00 am 36 comments

Today I am happy to welcome back to Book Lovers Inc. Maggie Robinson, author of the deliciously steamy historical romance Courtesan Court series. Until now the 3 previous books all depicted the story of a heroine living on the courtesan street, so it is interesting to see that for the fourth and final book in the series Maggie Robinson deviates and tells the story of a tortured hero who made an appearance in a previous book as an almost villain! *gasps* Yes! So you can imagine my surprise and curiosity regarding Master of Sin (my review will be posted tomorrow). Please give Maggie a warm welcome, read on for an exclusive previously unseen bed scene between the hero and heroine of Master of Sin and if you leave a comment you could even win a copy!

A Conversation (in Bed) with Andrew and Gemma

Andrew: You wouldn’t even tell me what your name was at first. Cheeky little monkey. *Tucks Gemma’s tangled brown hair behind her ears.*

Gemma: Well, I thought you might have killed your wife. I didn’t trust you, and you didn’t make it easy on me to do so. Glowering. Scowling. Drinking yourself into a stupor. What kind of hero are you anyway?

Andrew: Don’t blame me! It’s that idiotic writer woman. First she gives me the darkest past imaginable—I mean really, did she major in clinical psychology in college? Watch too many episodes of Dr. Drew? If I’d had half the baggage she gave me, I’d be locked away somewhere staring into a corner, not swiving my way through society.

Gemma: *bats long eyelashes* But she gave you me!

Andrew: Yes. A tiny brown scrap of female humanity whose mouth is bigger than her ti—

Gemma: *punches Andrew in his golden manly chest* (see book cover) Don’t you dare say it! I saved your soul and you know it.

Andrew: *smug* One kiss at a time, I think it says somewhere. But it took the longest time to get to that first kiss. All that sexual tension. I tell you, for a man of vast experience I was damn slow on the draw to get you into my bed.

Gemma: P. 143, and it was I who came to you, remember. If I’d waited, we’d still be celibate by the last page. How silly you were to try to totally reform—I mean what good is a hero who tries to be pure? People don’t read Brava books for purity. Andrew, make those people go away. We’re in bed, and I don’t want to waste time talking.

Andrew: *heavy sigh* You are a stern taskmaster, my dear. All right, as you wish. *shuts the book with a bang* (muffled) Now, where were we?

***
Idiotic writer woman: One expects a book titled Master of Sin to be pretty sinful, but I had a duty to Andrew to bring him from debauchery to honor. As the heroine realizes, “He had done everything with everybody” and more. I wanted their relationship to grow in a way that left Andrew’s sordid past firmly behind. Jennifer from Romance Novel News understands completely what I tried to do and says: “The intimate moments between Andrew and Gemma were rather tender and quite fitting.” There’s more sweet heat than scorching inferno, since Andrew needed that acceptance most of all. I hope readers will follow his journey to redemption and congratulate Gemma for a job well done!

Do you ever wonder what happens to characters once you close the book? Do you like bonus epilogues and extra chapters, or want to lock the hero and heroine in place at “The End?” I’ve got a signed copy of Master of Sin for one commenter!

Master of Sin by Maggie Robinson

Book #4 in the Courtesan Court series

Andrew Rossiter has used his gorgeous body and angelic face for all they’re worth—shocking the proper, seducing the willing, and pleasuring the wealthy. But with a young son depending on him for rescue, suddenly discretion is far more important than desire. He’ll have to quench his desires—fast. And he’ll have to find somewhere his scandalous reputation hasn’t yet reached…

Miss Gemma Peartree seems like a plain, virginal governess—or so she hopes. No matter how many sparks fly between them, she has too much to hide to catch Andrew’s eye. But with a stormy Scottish winter driving them together, it will be hard to keep her secrets. Especially when Andrew feels he has found the woman who can restore his soul—one kiss at a time…

There are some stories that I wonder about and others that I am so happy with the ending that no more is needed. Loved the interview with the characters.

  • miki April 18, 2012 at 10:33 am

it’s depends on the stories, some are perfect where it ends and i don’t think more about it and others where i really would like more so no general answers here

    great interview

    all the best

  • Michelle V April 18, 2012 at 11:39 am

If I really enjoy a book and the characters, then I often find myself thinking about it for days after I’ve finished the book and wondering what might happen next. I do like when the author includes an epilogue or sometimes bonus chapters on their blog or website. I loved the interview. I haven’t read any of her books yet, but I really want to!

  • erinf1 April 18, 2012 at 12:27 pm

Thanks for a fun post and giveaway! If I fall in love with a book, I love bonus chapters and epilogues! Whatever continues the story (in an organic way of course). I especially love when we get glimpses of the characters enjoying their HEAs.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the guestpost, and a fun interview, I enjoyed reading it. I really like reading about what happens when the book ends, but I prefer if the couple makes an appearance in the rest of the series 🙂 all friends, or family or neighbours.

  • maria April 18, 2012 at 2:03 pm

I like when its the end because i want to believe they ended up with a happy ending

  • Sheree April 18, 2012 at 3:50 pm

That’s what sequels are for, right? To peek at the couple after the end of their book?

  • Maggie Robinson April 18, 2012 at 3:52 pm

Hi, everyone! Thanks BookLoversInc for having me as a guest today. I loved “waking up” Andrew and Gemma for their interview. I was interested in Julia Quinn’s “extra” chapters when they came out a few years ago, but never read them. I’m happy to close the book and assume everyone has their HEA. 🙂

  • June April 18, 2012 at 4:36 pm

I love any type of update on the hero & heroine. That is one of the things that I love the most about series, you often get updates on previous characters. There are many characters that I have read that I would love to read more about, what happens after the HEA.

  • StacieD April 18, 2012 at 4:46 pm

I LOVE epilogues. I like to catch up with the couple after the HEA. It is a great way to see the couple a few months or years later. They usually have kids by that point which is lovely to see. That is also why I love spinoff series. You sometimes get a glimpse of characters in the first series.

  • Tin April 18, 2012 at 6:21 pm

    Always! And I love epilogues!

I have read 2 different series, which focuses on the same hero and heroine. I loved being able to follow their story after the first HEA. ^_^

  • Kim April 18, 2012 at 7:55 pm

I enjoy epilogues and series for the same reason: In both cases, we get another glimpse at the hero & heoine’s HEA.

I always want an epilogue! I have invested all my time into this couple and have to see how perfect there HEA is. Thanks so much for Maggie Robinson including that cute “bed scene” between Andrew and Gemma. I have all of the books in the Courtesan series and Andrew is the one I have been most anticipating!!!

  • Barbara Elness April 18, 2012 at 10:30 pm

I always wonder what happens to characters after the end of the story. That’s why I enjoy series, where characters from previous books come back and I get to see how they’re doing. I enjoy epilogues and extra material as well, it’s nice to see that the happily ever after is really ever after.

  • JenM April 18, 2012 at 11:44 pm

I love all of the extras. If I love the characters, of course I want to see more of them.

  • Margaret Murray -Evans April 19, 2012 at 12:29 am

Always, always give me an epilogue, otherwise I feel the story isn’t resolved.
I.e.the most recent Jane Eyre movie was a big disappointment. They left off Jane explaining in a letter Edward regains his eyesight in one eye and is able to see his first born..a son. GEEZZZ..what a let down! I don’t think Charlotte Bronte would have been happy.

  • JessS April 19, 2012 at 2:26 am

I do wonder what happens to the characters, but usually I prefer it to be left at that because sometimes epilogues or extra stuff end up feeling cliche, or like the characters are just boring. I like being able to imagine whatever I want for the characters. Thanks!

  • bn100 April 19, 2012 at 3:02 am

Sometimes I wonder what happens to the characters. I like bonus epilogues and extra chapters.

  • Mary Preston April 19, 2012 at 4:03 am

I do wonder, if I have a vested interest in the characters. The characters you love, or love to loathe, do stay with you & a little more is always appreciated.

  • Filia Oktarina April 19, 2012 at 5:56 am

I never wonder what happen next to character one i’m close book, because i always think their story was happy ending. And I enjoy series, where characters from previous books come back, usually they make story fun. I love bonus epiloque and extra chapters.

I do sometimes wonder what happens to some characters in the story. I try to let it go but some books you can’t help but wonder. This book sounds great I enjoy books about ghosts, demons etc… thanks for the giveaway.

Ooops disregard last sentence. LOL! That is what I get for doing two things at once. Master of Sin sounds really great and I would love to read it.

  • JOYE April 19, 2012 at 10:26 am

There are a couple of books I would have liked for them to last longer but there are so many books to read, I just move on. a few have stayed with me.

  • Tamsyn April 19, 2012 at 11:14 am

I try never to read a book without a happy ending so I assume that when I close a book, the couple will continue to be happy. Which is why I sometimes avoid series which has the same main characters because the book is more like a chapter than a complete book until you finish the series. But I do read them if they are good. Most of my keeper books are those whose endings are happy and leave me with a warm feeling.

  • Diane Sallans April 19, 2012 at 1:17 pm

I do hate to see the last of a character I’ve smiled & cried about, so I do love epilogues – probably as a confirmation of their continuing HEA. It’s also why I love series – so I can catch up on what’s going on with the characters from the earlier books.

  • ladymilano April 19, 2012 at 7:14 pm

ABsolutely! ANd it comes more curious about what happened in my favourite heroes n heroines life after the book is finished!
Yes, I’m kinda happy when I read the word “epilogue” at the end of the book! 😀
Those covers are so eye-catchy! ;D

  • Lexi April 19, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Oh I love the epilogue, if I am really into a book and fall in love with the characters I want to know what happens to them after The End. Nice to see Gemma can hold her own, or at least punch Andrew if he is out of line =)

  • Victoria Zumbrum April 19, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Yes I wonder about the characters at the end of the book and wonder what happens to them. I like extra chapters and books. Please enter me in contest.

  • Yadira A. April 19, 2012 at 9:30 pm

I LOVE the bonus epilogues and extra chapters… even it’s on the author’s website and I have to hunt them down:) I usually end up having to write my own epilogue in my head for the characters. I love how you did this character interview… very cool!

  • resh April 21, 2012 at 1:35 am

i certainly like xtra chapters and the bonus epilogues
most of the times i keep wondering about the characters and how would they be manging if the story continued
my favorite book is breaking dawn i have read it soo many times so many times i wish the story would contiue and we would know what happens to nessie and jacob

  • Lynn K April 22, 2012 at 9:19 am

Hmmm, most of the time, I do…though occasionally the ending is already ‘perfect’ as it is (usually for those open ended ones) and I’d rather the author leave the ‘afters’ to our imaginations. 🙂

  • Na S. April 23, 2012 at 11:46 am

Often with a great book characters do stay with me and I am curious as to what their life is like after the HEA. I don’t mind a few chapters on their life. It gives me a chance to re-visit them.

  • Ren Puspita April 27, 2012 at 4:23 am

I love after story, and know more about characters that I love after the book hit “The End”
I want to know what happen after their HEA, esp if the ending seems abrupt

  • Joanne B April 27, 2012 at 9:34 am

I always wonder what happened to the characters and appreciate any updates the authors will give us, from finding extras after the book to finding something on the author’s website.
This book sounds amazing. Can’t wait to read it.
