Today I am very happy to welcome back to the blog the wonderful Lila DiPasqua‘s whose steamy fairy tale inspired historical romances are hot enough to set the pages on fire and romantic enough to make you sigh with pleasure. The 4th book in Lila’s Fiery Tales series Undone was just released and if the gorgeous cover is not enough to tempt you I can tell you the story is extraordinary as well! (Don’t believe me? Read my review.) So it is with great pleasure that I interviewed her (poor Lila had to go through dozens of questions and she did them all with grace and a smile), this time we discover which fairy tale is her personal favourite and how she choreographs her steamy love scenes. So read on to discover more about Lila DiPasqua and her wonderful novels! (and of course there is a Fantastic giveaway at the end waiting for you ;-))

Stella: Hi Lila, welcome back to Book Lovers Inc! Can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

Lila: I’m thrilled to be back for another visit! I write scorching historical romances for Penguin/Berkley as well as self-published works under the brand name, Rock*it Reads. This brand is made up of a group of New York published authors who have created the brand, Rock*it Reads our self-published books. We’re passionate about self-publishing and we’re putting RiR logo on our book covers to reassure readers that these books will have the same professional quality as our traditionally published novels.

We’re really excited about it! And we’ve partnered with Barnes & Noble to write a regular column to highlight other self-published books (not our own!). Our column is called LOVE ROCKS and we’re all about giving love to self-published works and helping readers discover new and wonderful reads from the self-pub world.

Stella: Describe a typical day of writing? Are you a planner or pantser?

Lila: I’d say I’m a little of both. I write a general outline before I start a book, and then I begin to research—if it’s a new area of history for me. Before I start the book, I’ll know the characters, and I’ll have some scenes drafted out. That’s when I dive in and let the muse take me where it wants. It’s a little scary and exciting at the same time.

A typical writing day will start after I grab my coffee from Starbucks. I write mostly during the day. Depending on the deadline, I may write in the evening, too. I try to write a certain number of pages per day, but some days the muse abandons me. (She’s so evil). I visit Facebook or Twitter until she returns. 🙂

Stella: What do you think is the difference between a reader and a real Book Lover?

Lila: A real book lover is generally a lot poorer in the wallet. LOL I think a real book lover wants to be surrounded by books. Own them. Lots of them. They’re the ones who will lend out their books only on the sworn promise that they will be returned. Or else. lol A real book lover will buy more books, even though they have a TBR pile as tall as Mt. Everest. 😉

Stella: You are a historical romance author, and to be precise a fairy tale-historical romance author. Why did this subgenre appeal to you, what attracted you to HR? Why do you prefer it to others, like contemporary romance? Do you think you’ll want to write contemporary stories some day?

Lila: Who knows? I may write a contemporary romance one day. Or a paranormal. But my pull to historical romance probably comes from the fact that I fell in love with fairy tales as a child (the first romance I ever read was probably Cinderella), and the first full-length romance novel I ever read happened to be a historical romance, when I was a teen. I’ve been hooked on romance novels ever since. I love sweeping readers back in history. For now, I’ll stick to writing steamy historicals with delicious rakes and the heroines who make them lose their hearts.

Stella: You pen the Fiery Tales steamy historical romance series, which are all based on a classic fairy tale and can be read as standalones. Would you like to tell our readers about it a bit?

Lila: The term Fiery Tales is something my husband thought up and Berkley liked it so much, they kept it. It was a fitting name for the series as the series is all about scorching retellings of those fairy tales we all know and love. And though the love scenes are hot, the romance/emotions are just as passionate between the hero and heroine in these books. I love writing passionate love stories!

AWAKENED BY A KISS and THE PRINCESS IN HIS BED are each anthologies (three classic fairy tales retold in each of these books)

A MIDNIGHT DANCE – is my fresh and different spin on Cinderella. You see, our cinder-girl is determined to find her prince charming—and make him pay. 🙂 This is a fun, steamy story with a wonderfully strong, smart heroine and a delicious hero who will melt your socks off. 😉

UNDONE—This is my latest release. My retelling of Rapunzel. UNDONE is the most emotional book I’ve ever written. I’ve received many emails from readers about how much they loved the book—and how it made them cry. But no worries! There is definitely a happily ever after for our hero Simon and his beloved, Angelica.

Stella: Your latest novel Undone (the 4th book in your Fiery Tales series) was released this month, congratulations! Can you tell our readers what they can expect of it?

Lila: Simon, born a commoner, is entangled in a serious, deadly web of intrigue and court politics. He’s a privateer for his country and has always wanted to rise from his station of birth and become a titled gentleman and an officer in the King’s official navy. Until now. When the story starts, he just realized he’s got to walk away from his lifelong dream and the powerful man who has a hold on him and his men. If only the mysterious beauty Simon thinks he’s rescued wasn’t such a distraction. The desire that burns between them is untamable and irresistible.

Stella: Would you like to introduce the hero and heroine to our readers?

Lila: Once upon a time there was a commoner who was anything but common. Tall, dark and dangerous, and at last wealthy, Simon Boulenger lives like an aristocrat, but has a troubled past. And even more trouble in his future.

Especially the day he meets a damsel in distress—Angelica. But our Angelica is a mysterious beauty. And this woman born into the aristocracy, posing as a commoner, intends to keep her secrets to herself.

Let the games begin! 😉

Stella: Can you tell us any behind the scenes secret related to Undone? (either to the writing process, or some tidbit about the characters that didn’t end up in the final version)

Lila: When researching UNDONE, I needed information on a beautiful palace named Vaux-le-Vicomte. This 17th c architectural marvel is in my book and still stands today. When I emailed my questions to the staff at Vaux, I never expected that I’d get a response from Count Patrice de Vogüé! Who’s he, you ask? He’s the man who currently calls Vaux-le-Vicomte his home. 🙂 What a delightful man! He personally answered every question I had.

Stella: Can you summarize Undone for us twitterstyle (140 characters or less)?

Lila: What happens after the hero rescues the beauty from the tower? See @LilaDiPasqua steamy Rapunzel retelling UNDONE!

Stella: Now can you tell us 3 reasons why people should read Undone?

Lila:

1. There’s a carnally-gifted, delicious hero, Simon
2. There’s a smart heroine who will pull at your heart.
3. There’s a touching love story with real issues and sigh-worthy ending and love scenes that will burn up the pages.

Stella: Undone is your first self-published novel. Why did you decide to go this way? And how was the experience so far? Are you considering going this way in the future?

Lila: Publishing has been changing, and I’m evolving with it. I love the control self-publishing gives me. From cover, to content, to release date—it’s all up to me. Plus, I can control the price. And I like that very much. So many other authors have turned to self-publishing. I didn’t want to miss out on this exciting new frontier. I’m not sure what the future holds, but I am sure I’m loving self-publishing UNDONE immensely.

Stella: What shall we expect from you, what is next on your schedule? Will there be more Fiery Tales in the future?

Lila: I’m working on Luc’s Fiery Tale, Jules’s brother (Jules, the hero in A MIDNIGHT DANCE). I’m also working on a novella and new series set in Victorian England. It’s time to scandalize a new time period. LOL

Stella: Your novels were inspired by fairy tales, how do you choose which one to retell? Does inspiration strike or do you decide to retell a specific fairy tale and then try to work out the details on how you could do that?

Lila: I decide on the fairy tale first, then let my imagination go. I start to form the characters and the conflict they will face, while keeping those elements of the fairy tale we’re all familiar with.

Stella: And I know it’s a mean question, but do you have a favourite fairy tale?

Lila: I love so many different fairy tales, but I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Cinderella.

Stella: Your historical romances besides being wonderfully told stories full of pomp and glitter have heart-wraming (and heart-squeezing) romance and scorching love scenes. Are these steamy scenes easy for you to write or do they prove to be challenging at times?

Lila: The love scenes do take some extra care, I will admit. I sort of have to choreograph it first. You don’t want your hero to have three hands. LOL Then I apply all the sensations and emotions.

Stella: Quick questions, quicker answers:

Grimm or Disney? Grimm

Snow White or Cinderella? Cinderella

Which would you prefer to have a fairy godmother or glass slippers and dressmaker mice? A fairy godmother

Ugly Duckling or The Beauty and the Beast? The Ugly Duckling.

Who were you rooting for in Little Red Riding Hood: LRRH, the wolf, grandma or the hunter? Little Red. 🙂

Little Mermaid: with a happy ending or the original touching one? I’m a sucker for a happy ending.

Favourite Grimm story? Rapunzel

Favourite Andersen story? The Ugly Duckling.

Stella: Can you share with us some little secret trivia, something that not many people know about you?

Lila: Actually, there’s a secret in the dedication in UNDONE, which I had to put in the back of the book because it contained a spoiler. You’ll have to check it out if you want to know that secret.

UNDONE
A Fiery Tale
Lila DiPasqua
HISTORICAL ROMANCE
April, 2012

Inspired by the tale of Rapunzel, Lila DiPasqua offers a new steamy, emotionally charged historical romance in the acclaimed Fiery Tales Series . . . Rescuing this beauty from the ‘tower’ is only the beginning . . .

Maintaining her ruse as a commoner, and trusting no one has kept Angelica safe. But a chance encounter with a handsome stranger lands her right where danger lies. Now, this sinfully handsome man with arresting blue eyes and a polished manner thinks he’s saved her life, when in fact he’s placed her in great peril. She’s intent on keeping him and everyone else at arm’s length. Yet, the smoldering attraction between them is difficult to deny. And impossible to ignore . . .

As commander of a number of privateer ships, Simon Boulenger dresses and speaks like an aristocrat, and has obtained wealth. But he is still not a noble. Or an officer in the King’s Navy. His lifelong dream to elevate himself from his station of birth and attain a respectable place in society is dead. Worse, he’s ensnared in a deadly scheme, and must get out. But how is he to stay focused on his dangerous mission when the mysterious beauty has him utterly intrigued? He can’t afford the distraction any more than he can resist the carnal hunger she stirs. Simon soon discovers that she’s not only a passionate soul mate, but a woman born into privilege. A woman he can never have. But they’re in too deep. Their hearts are at risk . . . as well as their lives.

my favorite type of hero is not the typical superhero with superpowers, is a simple and legal person who believe strongly in his ideals, for example, v for vendetta is a character who remains a hero and being a little crazy, he’s nice to the people because struggle for what he believes is right

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:31 pm

Sounds good to me! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  • Lynne May 4, 2012 at 12:01 pm

Really enjoyed your interview and love your books! I love heroes that are strong and protective -very alpha but have the completely opposite side with the one they love. For them to become totally undone by their love makes for some great reading!

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:32 pm

Oh, well said, Lynne! I couldn’t agree more. 🙂

  • Annette jenkins May 4, 2012 at 12:03 pm

I like a very rich he-man hero–rich in character, courage, intelligenc & love–it would not hurt anything if he was rich & handsome!!!LOL!

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:34 pm

LOL!! I can’t argue with your hero list. 😉

  • Michelle May 4, 2012 at 12:09 pm

I do agree with your review on book lovers! I do actually find myself buying more books! My rate of reading is slower than my rate of book buying. I also have a soft spot for historical romance and can be very picky when it comes to choosing a book from the genre. I would really like to read Undone as it is the kind of story I love.

My favorite kind of hero would be super protective but will be very sweet to the girl of his liking (me? 😀 ) and is not afraid to show it to everyone else. *dreamy sigh* Probably with a touch of some sordid past (eg bad experience with woman to make him distrust the gender) to make the hero more interesting to read as he progresses in the story to find that he’s in love with a girl. *dreamy sigh again* (I think I can actually write an essay on this.) That’s the general gist of it. 🙂

Thanks for granting us a chance to read such great books!

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:37 pm

What a lovely answer! Thank you for your interest in UNDONE. Glad you stopped by to share. 🙂

  • Jessika Z May 4, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Thanks for the blog. That is so neat the Count answered questions for you! What great stories you have, I love fairy tales. I’m a book lover, and have been unwilling to transfer to Ereader. I love my library, and am a little fanantic when I lend books out. They better not come back with Cheeto stains (happens often) or bent back (I hand out bookmarks with them now).

My favorite hero is one who is loyal to friends and family. And is there to protect his love, is compasionate, able to stand beside not always in front, and has a good sense of humor to deal with the crazy situations. I’m also a sucker for a guy with a dark past.

Thanks for the blog & giveaway!

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Oh I so seriously love your answer! I think we’re kindred spirits. LOL I feel the same about my books—and heroes. Thanks for the lovely comment on the review and the Count.

  • Arely Zimmermann May 4, 2012 at 12:23 pm

My favorite kind of hero is one that is tough on the outside but soft and caring on the inside. The guy that only shows his true self to those he cares about. I like others, but this kind is my favorite!

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:40 pm

That’s a wonderful hero! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  • Lory Lee May 4, 2012 at 12:26 pm

Great interview! Enjoyed reading it immensely now I can consider myself as a book lover (bought 4 more books despite the fact that I still have 5 more books TBR :P)
My favorite hero would be someone who is strong, fearless, you know the soldier-type in short a rogue but gets utterly flustered, clueless and senseless in dealing with his heroine. I find it really amusing when a tough man doesn’t know how to handle his newly found emotions (like Jason Fielding of “Once and Always, sorry for the mention :D) but when he realizes how he loves that particularly woman, he will do anything and everything just to have her (except using by force).

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:42 pm

You definitely described a great hero. Glad you stopped by to share. 🙂

  • jennifer bernard May 4, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Thank you for your writing…you transport me to a time that I feel most comfortable in. You make me feel as though I am actually in the story living every detail….My favorite hero is one that maynot be the most beautiful on the outside but, is a knight in shining armor. He loves and protects his woman fiercely and also supports her…no milk and water lass for him! He supports his woman mind, body and soul…….

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:43 pm

Thank you for the lovely comment, Jennifer! I’m so happy you stopped by to chat with me. 🙂

  • Mary Doherty May 4, 2012 at 12:45 pm

My very favorite kind of hero is the wounded kind (emotionally that is ). The more wounded the better for me. lol. Great interview!

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Oh, yes! I love a wounded hero. Glad you enjoyed the interview! 🙂

  • sienny May 4, 2012 at 12:49 pm

    Hi!

My fave kind of hero is a down to earth. I don’t need a super power man, a regular man will do. He must be brave and strong enough to admit his weakness and conquer it. He must love his woman whole heartedly, dedicated everything he is to her and willing to chance his life for her. Well, i think i just described my book boyfried.. :))

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:45 pm

LOL…Sounds like you’ve got a great guy. Thank you for stopping by to chat with me. 🙂

Hmmm.. My fav hero is should be, first: tall. Next, he must be sexy, good looking, has a deepest character or having a dark secret, i like tht. N 1 thing tht he should have, a sexy eyes :D.
The mysterious hero would be great, it could makes the story more interesting

    • Lila DiPasqua May 4, 2012 at 10:47 pm

David Guintolli is definitely a good looking man. 🙂 Oh, and sexy eyes….*melts* Yes, I’m a sucker for a man with sexy eyes.

  • Filia Oktarina May 4, 2012 at 12:50 pm

Great interview. I can’t wait to have Lila books in my hand. My favorite kind of hero is tall, dark, brave, have sense of humour and have a little dangerous aura. I like when he’s have alpha male character.

  • jamie heustess May 4, 2012 at 12:52 pm

I think my fav hero is a guy that is sexy, smart, doesn’t take himself too seriously. He can’t be intimidated that a woman is smart and sassy too. It would be nice to see more that actually have a fetish for that sort of stuff 😉 . He needs to be self assured, know exactly who he is, but also his place in the world. Besides being passionat about his woman, he needs to be passionate about a cause or belief. A shallow self absorbed hero is a turn off. I think these were all my criteria for my hubby….lol…he has good taste!

BTW- Just bought Undone and the previous Faery Tales serie books….I love the Cinderella autographed copy you sent me! It is a struggle to read them in order…but I am working on it 😉

    • Lila DiPasqua May 5, 2012 at 12:43 am

Hi Jamie! I like your description of a hero. I’m so delighted by your interested in the Fiery Tales. Each book is a standalone. You don’t have to read them in any particular order. But I would suggest you read A MIDNIGHT DANCE before UNDONE. Glad you stopped by!

  • erinf1 May 4, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Thanks for such a fun interview and giveaway! I’ve read such awesome reviews for Lila’s books and they are at the top of my wish list 🙂

“A real book lover is generally a lot poorer in the wallet. LOL I think a real book lover wants to be surrounded by books. Own them. Lots of them. Amen sister. That is it *exactly*. And as someone who fits this description perfectly, It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one.

My kind of hero is… whatever the author gives me 🙂 I’m not stuck on any one particular “type”. I love ’em all! I go more for the story than the stereotype.

    • Lila DiPasqua May 5, 2012 at 12:49 am

Thank you for your wonderful comment! Glad to hear we’re kindred spirits. 🙂

Love this. I love Rapunzel! When I was little I wanted to have long her just like her & my mom always had me wear it really short so now I can’t even grow it :/ lol
anyways, my favorite kind of hero is: flawed! He’s got scras or something like that but it’s still very nice 🙂 Yes, my favorite fairy tale has always been The Beauty and The Best ;D lol
    Thanks Lila :*

I didn’t know A Midnight Dance was a Cinderella story 😀 that’s really cool, I want to read it!

    My fave kind of hero:
-conflicted – someone who has inner turmoil and won’t let anyone in except for that one special woman.
-arrogant with a lot of sex appeal – shall I say more?

My favorite type of hero is the strong Alpha who is a little dark and mysterious. I also want him to have a sense of humor and be honorable, loyal, protective, sexy and family orientated.

I loved this review and excerpt of Lila’s “Undone”. She’s an amazing Author, whose books I love. 🙂

    • Lila DiPasqua May 5, 2012 at 1:27 am

I think you’d like Simon. He’s the hero in UNDONE and a lot like the description you gave. Glad you stopped by. 🙂

  • Ren Puspita May 4, 2012 at 2:11 pm

Congrats for the release of Undone, Lila! 😀
To answer the question, well I like my hero tall, dark and dangerous. Too usual perhaps? Add it with sense of humor, he must have honor, love children/family man (so he will make a good father), responsible and see his partner with equality :). Have a good appetite, not just for food, but confident in and out of bed is a plus 😉

Out of topic, how much books you plan to write in this Fiery Tales series? Thanks!

Hi Ren, I like your comment! To answer your question, I have one more book in the series. I felt Luc should get his own story. 🙂 I think you’ll like him–given your description.

  • gamistress66 May 4, 2012 at 2:14 pm

oh no, it’s confirmed I’m a book lover — way too many books waiting for me to read & it grows as fast or faster than I can read & lots of faves in the keeper pile too, alas happy & no desire to change so book lover I’ll just have to stay 😉 congrats on the release and the venture into self publishing. your book sounds delightful — particular the hero description & after those 3 reasons to read, how could I not add it to the wish list 🙂

  • Jenn H May 4, 2012 at 2:15 pm

Ah, my favourite hero …. there are so many who rank rght up there, but for now I seem to be drawn to the unexpected hero. That’s the average guy-next-door type, who is a decent guy and who does unexpectedly sweet things, like clearing the drive of the elderly neighbour next door, or changing the tire on the heroine’s car. He usually has a dog, is great with kids (nieces? nephews?), was a bit of a player when he was younger but now he’s just a great guy who hangs out and drinks beer with his buddies and enjoys a good time. Of course, he’s usually baffled by the heroine, but genuinely wants to be with her, and is totally focused on her in and out of bed. He’s the one that she looks at with different eyes after a long time of only seeing him one way… sigh.Love those moments when she realizes that HE’s her hero after all.

So – anyone have anyone like that hanging around??? 🙂

    Thanks,
    Jenn

I like those heartwrenching damaged heroes, but I have to admit that my favorite ones are the cool, suave, debonair types. There’s nothing they can’t handle, and they view the world and its inhabitants with a raised eyebrow and the slightest of smiles. It probably started with my girlhood crush on Percy Blakeney/the Scarlet Pimpernel. 🙂

I love the story of Beauty and the Beast, so I was momentarily crushed (yes, crushed) when you picked The Ugly Duckling over it. But, TUD’s a great tale, too, so I’ve recovered now.

  • May May 4, 2012 at 3:15 pm

I like the alpha-ish hero who is also sweet and loving. So a bit of alpha-ish and beta-ish, I guess.

    Sounds like a great book!

  • Carrie Lim May 4, 2012 at 3:27 pm

How was I unaware of this series? The Fiery Tales seem to be a must read and yay for stumbling upon this interview and author! I must read this now!

I can’t really choose a favorite type of hero. I’m so indecisive XD However, I seem to always be drawn to rakes with or without a cause or those tragic unsung heroes. Alpha heroes are also a favorite. Gah, I can’t decide!

  • catslady May 4, 2012 at 3:32 pm

I too like the alpha males. Strong on the outside but a softy in the inside. A hero that is literally willing to die for you! Love your cover and the story sounds like something I would enjoy.

I loved your answer to the difference between a reader and a book lover. I have over 600 in my TBR pile and I STILL buy books. One day I will get them all read. Some go back 10 and 15 years ago that I bought in used book stores. I try to go between those and newly published. I love the feel of a book in my hands and the older ones usually even have a smell to them. I call them “My Precious” in a Gollum voice.

My favorite kind of hero is of a bad boy type with a hint of something hidden in his past that he fights and conquerors. Whether he is a knight, a Scottish laird, a lord, he must be strong and handsome and can even have a few facial scars. He has to have humor and tease his lady love much to her frustration.

I love when the hero has to learn the trust of other before, he has to be loyal and persistent, protective but not too possessive ( a good alpha) but he must also be gentle

thanks you for the international giveaway

    all the best

  • Lisa H May 4, 2012 at 4:30 pm

“There’s a carnally-gifted, delicious hero, Simon” 🙂 Favorite ever hero description! LOL Cannot wait to read this book. I love Lila and her take on things. Her perception of fairy tales! 🙂

  • Shannon May 4, 2012 at 5:33 pm

Congratulations on your first – of many more I’m sure to come – self-published work!

My favorite kind of a hero is not some uber-masculine book cover model (although seeing them doesn’t hurt) but close. I like strong, confident heroes but not disrespectful. I like the heroes to have a bit of a sensitive side – even if they only show it behind closed doors.

  • MicheAnn Oboyle May 4, 2012 at 5:49 pm

i loved the part of the interview about the tv shows grimm and such. my favorite heros are the ones that would risk their lifes for another firemena and such and enjoyed the whole intewview angelwolfmystic@yahoo.com

  • Amy Medeiros May 4, 2012 at 5:55 pm

My favorite kind of hero is basically like Batman or the Beast in Beauty and the Beast where they’re tormented and serious but is really kind when around the people he loves 🙂 Love a man in uniform, but then again i like a bad boy and cowboy, so it depends on my mood i guess lol

    Hi everyone!

I’ve been a little under the weather today, but I’ve been enjoying your comments so much! I’ll be by a little later to respond to each of you. Please keep talking about heroes. 🙂

  • Gwen May 4, 2012 at 6:32 pm

My favorite kind of hero is the nerdy but hot guy.

  • StacieD May 4, 2012 at 7:11 pm

I definitely have a “type” when it comes to romance heroes. I like a dark, tortured hero who can be a little gruff. He might be a self-made man with a chip on his shoulder. He must be protective of the heroine. When he meets her he is finally able to open up emotionally. I’m a sucker for that kind of hero.

  • June May 4, 2012 at 8:04 pm

Congrats on the release of UNDONE! 🙂
I love an alpha, somewhat cocky hero. One who is intelligent, strong, protective of others, refuses to give up, dependable, and who will do whatever it takes to win his heroine. If they have a secret heart of gold, a sweet side that they only show the heroine it is even better.

  • Ann/alba May 4, 2012 at 9:53 pm

Waving Hi Lila , Man we could be twins all your fast answers were the same as mine <3
Stella great interview I love Lila’s Fiery Tales they are a must read I can't wait to get undone, Don't you just love the cover? I have to say Joseph d’Alumbert is my kind of hero able to look deeper that whats in front of him,
out of all the stories of Lila I have read Ugly duckling was my all time favorite.
    Have a good one Ann/alba

Very fun and enjoyable interview. I like heroes that are alpha and protective.

  • ladymilano May 5, 2012 at 3:35 am

I’m always in love with your book covers, it’s so awesome! 😀
    Great topic for sharing.
I still confuse about whether an alpha or beta hero which I prefer.
Because in 1 book I love the alpha, but the other book I love the beta.
But when I analyse the similarity of my fave heroes, they always fall too much for the heroine, so much adore, and change into a different guy.
I think love is just like that, could change us into a better person.
Currently, I love Lisa Kleypas’ Harry Rutledge and Sebastian Vincent ^^

I have first 2 books of your fairytales series, still wait for my time. 😉
Wish to get the another books in series.

  • Evie May 5, 2012 at 8:15 am

Great interview! “A real book lover is generally a lot poorer in the wallet” I so agree with this 🙂
My favorite kind of hero is brave, selfless and funny.
Thanks a lot for this amazing giveaway!

  • SoftFuzzySweater May 5, 2012 at 8:50 am

I hate myself for saying this but my favorite hero is the “Alpha Male” type. No sensitivity for me–at least in my romance novel.

Have you ever thought that the classic fairy tale has some basis in fact? That they are true stories that have changed into the magical after generations of retellings?

Please enter me on the giveaway. Thank you.

    Lila,

    congrats on the release 🙂

hem…the most hero i like is a handsome, mysterious, a bit possesive, protective and sometimes harsh but have a tender heart. i hope this is not too perfect *grin

  • Jeanne Miro May 5, 2012 at 3:08 pm

    Lila,

I loved the interview and love that with every interview of your’s that I’ve read I’ve understand more about the soul that writes the tales!

I love your “fairy tales” because they never fail to bring the hope of a child back to me and makes me sit back and think about the true wonders and the “hero” in own life. Sometimes in times with the turmoil and trouble of our own lives happening around us we forgot to notice the little wonders like a kiss on a check by our own alpha male or a friendly hello from a stranger that also fill out days.

With every book of yours I read I am brought back to my childhood and made aware once again how wonderful my own personal prince actually is and for that I thank you!

  • Diane Sallans May 5, 2012 at 4:56 pm

I like a hero that is physically tall & strong; I like him to have self-confidence, but be willing to listen to others (especially his significant other); I like him to have a sense of humor & related well to children & animals; I like him to be honest, with himself & others, particularly about his feelings & emotions … not too much to ask, is it?

  • JOYE May 5, 2012 at 7:50 pm

My favorite kind of hero has honor and a purpose in life. He is usually tall and handsome and probably flawed so that the heroine can “unflaw” him

  • Victoria Zumbrum May 5, 2012 at 8:11 pm

My favorite kind of hero is someone who is full of honor, loves unconditionally, will sacrifice his life for the ones he loves and fights for what he wants.

  • JessS May 5, 2012 at 9:34 pm

I’m not sure I have a favourite kind of hero, because mostly if a story is good than I can get behind any “type”. Though I do have a bit of a soft spot for the sweet, protective types. Or anyone who’s geeky. Or sometimes bad boys…
Thanks for the giveaway! I really, really want to read one of your books.
And your definition of a real book lover is me exactly! I love buying books, have a massive tbr, and whenever I lend books to my friends (which is only rarely with people I REALLT trust) it comes with a threat of death if any damage comes to the book.

  • aurian May 6, 2012 at 5:24 am

Thanks for the lovely interview, I enjoyed reading it. And I really admire you for going the road to selfpublishing. I really believe that the author should get all the proceeds of her hard work.
My favourite kind of hero? Tall, dark and handsome, kind but fierce, loyal and passionate and with a sense of humor.

  • Tamsyn May 6, 2012 at 6:57 am

Can a hero be both alpha and a geek? Like Superman and Clark Kent. My fav hero would be alpha, strong, with bedroom eyes but also a geek ‘cos I love that combination!

  • C. Lani May 9, 2012 at 7:47 pm

hi Lila, wow thats a great interview, i have your book ( Awakened by a kiss) thats awesome.. Cant wait to have this giveaway too. My typical of heroes are like strong, brave, tall, a little naughty, alpha of course!! 😀

  • Na S. May 10, 2012 at 12:10 am

I like heroes that are multi-layered. They are smart, loyal, brave and funny! The ones I tend to like are also complicated. They may not be easy to love but that doesn’t mean they can’t redeemed. Their jaded views on love can be a good thing when they do find it.

  • Marlene Breakfield May 10, 2012 at 1:10 am

I like a hero, who is intelligent, loyal, protective, strong, honorable, and giving with a wicked sense of humor.
    marlenebreakfield(at)yahoo(dot)com

  • Joy Gifford May 12, 2012 at 10:29 pm

My kind of hero is a man, who has his own convictions and is honorable. A man who is strong yet gentle, intelligent but not bookish, values friends, loved ones, can be serious or not, and good looks and a hot bod can’t hurt……

  • juliana May 17, 2012 at 6:05 am

My hero is a typical of alpha male but he has a soft heart if it concerns to te heroine. Of course, he must be smart, brave, loyal and a little bit arrogant as well as a possesive man. He isn’t afraid to show his vulnerability to the one he loved.
I think BDB’s men are typical of alpha men.
