Book Blurb:
After twelve years of secret training, Atticus O’Sullivan is finally ready to bind his apprentice, Granuaile, to the earth and double the number of Druids in the world. But on the eve of the ritual, the world that thought he was dead abruptly discovers that he’s still alive, and they would much rather he return to the grave.

Having no other choice, Atticus, his trusted Irish wolfhound, Oberon, and Granuaile travel to the base of Mount Olympus, where the Roman god Bacchus is anxious to take his sworn revenge—but he’ll have to get in line behind an ancient vampire, a band of dark elves, and an old god of mischief, who all seem to have KILL THE DRUID at the top of their to-do lists.

Warning: This review contains tiny spoilers from the previous books in the series. So if you haven’t read them yet be careful.

My Thoughts:

There are very few series I love which feature a male hero, Harry Dresden anyone? *g* But now, Atticus has won my heart and it looks like he’s going to stay there a while.  Trapped is the 5th book in the Iron Druid series. What a fun and addictive series!

I admit Trapped is the first book in the series that I READ. Because even though I have all the print books, I also bought all the audiobooks *g*. If I could give you one piece of  advice it would be to try these audiobooks. The narrator is amazing and his Oberon voice is just priceless. So I read Trapped and it took some effort on my part because after listening to all the previous books I had NO idea how most of the weird names/places etc. actually looked like when written down.  I’d never realized how easy the audiobook narrator had made it for me! lol

Anyway I digress. Trapped is set 12 years after the events from Tricked (Book #4)  and 6 years after the events from the Two Ravens and One Crow novella (#4.5).  I usually don’t like it when years have passed between two books but in this case it’s just perfect.   Atticus has had time to successfully train his apprentice, Granuaile and she’s now ready to be bound to the Earth to become a real druid. I just love Atticus, he’s spent years trying to be professional with his apprentice and denying his attraction to her. That says a lot about his character. Atticus  hasn’t survived all these years (*snort* centuries!) by being careless, he has a good sense of morals and knows his priorities.

One of the main appeals of this book  is that there’s no drama between the main characters, no pity-party, no angst.  I mean, when the world is against you the last thing you need is an existential crisis.  I love Atticus and his philosophy of life. He never tries to impose his beliefs on Granuaile.

Trapped was just awesome in so many aspects… Atticus  has made difficult choices in the past (He should have listened to Jesus! *wink*)  and now he finally has to suffer the consequences and make amends. It was interesting to see how  not only  his actions, but some of the things he’d  casually said in the past,  would now come back to bite him in the ass. It seems poor Atticus will never be left alone anymore. Gods, Elves, Dwarves and Vampires,  they all seem to want a piece of this druid.

I kept this for the end because this is my favorite thing about Trapped….Oberon! Atticus’ hound is just hilarious. I highlighted many passages in the book and 80% of them are things Oberon said.  But  Oberon isn’t the only one with a great sense of humor, Atticus had me laughing my ass off quite a few times. How can you not love a book with references to Daleks, Yoda  or even  StarTrek!

I didn’t want this book to end. It was just pure pleasure from start to finish and now I’m craving the next book.  When you finish reading Trapped you can already see why the title of the next book  is Hunted.  If you haven’t read this series yet you don’t know what you’re missing! Trapped is a great installment in the series. It’s funny and full of action, it’s highly original and it has a full set of amazing characters that you can’t help but love. And well, there’s Oberon..if you only need one reason to read it it should be Oberon the hound!

I give Trapped 5 Stars

CANNOT WAIT FOR TRAPPED!! Sorry for shouting but I’m so excited.

I confess that I’ve never listened to an audiobook, but you’ve tempted me to try it with this series.

And I so agree with you: Oberon is wonderful. One of the best characters in any book/series around. He’s smart, loyal, funny, but has a childlike naivete.

I wish I could marry these audiobooks…well the narrator at least lol. You should listen to an excerpt on Audible.
