Sealed with a Curse (Weird Girls #1)
by Cecy Robson

Genre: urban fantasy
Release date: December 31, 2012 by Signet Eclipse

Description:

Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they’re products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird…

The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region—until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense. Everyone knows vampires aren’t aggressive, and killing one is punishable by death. But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders: are the vampires of Tahoe cursed with a plague?

Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha’s family to keep the region safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and oh yeah, not lose her heart to the wrong guy—or die a miserable death. Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, it’s coming for her and her sisters. This Wird girl has never had it so tough.

. . .

We’ve finally reached it: the end of 2012 (incorrect end-of-world predictions notwithstanding!) This is a good time to reflect upon some of the highs and lows of the past year… why not include books in these ruminations? This week’s list, an admittedly long one, includes many series titles, some of which are followups to books released earlier this year.

I tend to not include reissued books (unless the original release has been out of print for some time), and generally graphic novels don’t make the list when there are many novels already vying for space. (Sorry, comic book fans!) But it’s worth noting that this week will see the release of a Special Edition of Ilona Andrews’s Magic Bites, featuring a prequel story, some Curran scenes, FAQs, and other Kate Daniels treats. Also out this week is the graphic novelization of Charlaine Harris’s Grave Sight, first in the Harper Connelly mysteries.

Did you read Katie Ashley’s The Proposition and get caught up in it’s wild cliffhanger? Well the followup, The Proposal, is finally here…drink it up! Same with sequel Up to Me by M. Leighton, which follows the very popular Down to You. And I know for certain that there is a whole gaggle of people eagerly awaiting the newest Kara Gillian series book by Diana Rowland. Aside from the fact that Touch of the Demon has cover art by one of the best artists in the biz, it sounds like it’s going to be a superb installment.

The new series opener selected as the featured title this week, Sealed with a Curse, is going to be a popular one, I can already tell. It’s got humor, a magnetic band of sisters, and a world full of a cornucopia of paranormal creatures. And it’s set in Lake Tahoe… full of win right there. ^_^

. . .

Plan on kicking off 2013 with any newly released books? What were a some of your absolute favorites from 2012?

OOoo, another dragon book. And since the guy looks fully clothed on the cover, probably not dragon porn….. Dragons are an EXCELLENT way to start the new year.

I’ve read several blogs about the Sealed with a Curse so I’m going to check it out. I finished Shadow Woman by Linda Howard, good book, but then her books usually are! And a third one that has peaked my interest: a Taste of Ice.
