Welcome to this week’s news post! This week have some updates and news on Kelley Armstrong (although belatedly), Carina Press’ expansion in the UK and Ireland and more.

First up, Kelley Armstrong’s Bitten which is the first book in her Women of the Otherworld series, has been picked up by the Canadian Space channel for a 13 episode series which will focus on Elena and Clay and the rest of the pack. This was announced earlier in the year but I missed this and this took me by surprised when I stumbled across a mention that the series was being adapted for television. Space also announced that they will commence filming later this Spring, although no news on casting, but it looks like Urban Fantasy is becoming a rich source for television and movies for adapations at the moment.

Scholastic has declared that they will be launching their first Fantasy multi-platform series called Spirit Animals which will be penned by various authors as well as an online game linked to the books. Scholastic has already has several multi-platform series like 39 Clues and Infinity Ring series but this will be their venture into fantasy and along with Brandon Mull who has created the story arc for the middle grade series.

Harlequin will be launching a Carina UK imprint in the hopes to publish UK and Irish authors, as well as those residing in South Africa and in India. Carina UK will be a digital first imprint and will follow the same approach as their US based counterpart.

News in Brief:

C.L Wilson has posted a surprise snippet on her Facebook page from her upcoming book – The Winter King.

Julianna Baggott’s dystopian YA  Pure has been picked up by James Ponsoldt (Smashed) for the big screen treatment.

THe Kitcheies Award lshortlist has been announced – titles include Serephina and The City’s Son.

And now books to watch out for!

Julie James’ 4th FBI/US Attorney series –  Love Irresistibly  looks just as fun and sexy as the previous books!

HE’S USED TO GETTING WHAT HE WANTS…

A former football star and one of Chicago’s top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan will do anything to nail a corrupt state senator, which means he needs Brooke Parker’s help. As general counsel for a restaurant company, she can get a bug to the senator’s table at one of her five-star restaurants so the FBI can eavesdrop on him. All Cade has to do is convince Brooke to cooperate—and he’s not afraid to use a little charm, or the power of his office, to do just that.

AND WHAT HE WANTS IS HER.

A savvy businesswoman, Brooke knows she needs to play ball with the U.S. Attorney’s office—even if it means working with Cade. No doubt there’s a sizzling attraction beneath all their sarcastic quips, but Brooke is determined to keep things casual. Cade agrees—until a surprising turn of events throws his life into turmoil, and he realizes that he wants more than just a good time from the one woman with whom he could fall terrifyingly, irresistibly in love . . .

Cold Steel by Kate Elliott – is the 3rd Spiritwalker book and  this looks like things are hotting up for Cat and Bee.

Trouble, treachery, and magic just won’t stop plaguing Cat Barahal. The Master of the Wild Hunt has stolen her husband Andevai. The ruler of the Taino kingdom blames her for his mother’s murder. The infamous General Camjiata insists she join his army to help defeat the cold mages who rule Europa. An enraged fire mage wants to kill her. And Cat, her cousin Bee, and her half-brother Rory, aren’t even back in Europa yet, where revolution is burning up the streets.

Revolutions to plot. Enemies to crush. Handsome men to rescue.

Cat and Bee have their work cut out for them.

And finally we have  the cover and the blurb for the 2nd book in the His Grave Assassin series – Dark Triumph. I really enjoyed the first book and I am definitely looking forward to this one which promises to have a fun heroine!

Sybella arrives at the convent’s doorstep half mad with grief and despair. Those that serve Death are only too happy to offer her refuge—but at a price. Naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, the convent views Sybella as one of their most dangerous weapons.

But those assassin’s skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to a life that nearly drove her mad. Her father’s rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother’s love is equally monstrous. And while Sybella is a weapon of justice wrought by the god of Death himself, He must give her a reason to live. When she discovers an unexpected ally imprisoned in the dungeons, will a daughter of Death find something other than vengeance to live for?

This heart-pounding sequel to Grave Mercy serves betrayal, treachery, and danger in equal measure, bringing readers back to fifteenth century Brittany and will keep them on the edge of their seats.

So what do you think of the Bitten series being picked up? What other UF series would you like to see adapted?

I totally missed this! But it made my day! 😀

I always figured Women of the Otherworld would be good for an HBO/Showtime type series pickup. It has even more excuses for gratuitous nudity than the Sookie books.

It could be awesome. But it could also be terrible. Remember what Lifetime did to Tanya Huff’s Blood books? SO AWFUL.

I love it that UF books are turned into tv shows. Hope I will be able to see it here in Holland though.

I’m so excited about Cade’s book. I think Julie will have some excerpts in her upcoming newsletter.

I see that people are impatiently waiting for The Winter King (and me too even I’m not finish Wilson’s Tairen Soul yet), so when she posted the snippet , I’m so happy.
See at amazon, the publication is January, while in bookdepository is November. I wonder which one is right
