Title: Taken
Author: Erin Bowman
Series: Taken, #1
Genre: urban fantasy (YA)
Release date: April 16, 2013 by HarperTeen

Description:

There are no men in Claysoot. There are boys—but every one of them vanishes at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. The ground shakes, the wind howls, a blinding light descends…and he’s gone.

They call it the Heist.

Gray Weathersby’s eighteenth birthday is mere months away, and he’s prepared to meet his fate–until he finds a strange note from his mother and starts to question everything he’s been raised to accept: the Council leaders and their obvious secrets. The Heist itself. And what lies beyond the Wall that surrounds Claysoot–a structure that no one can cross and survive.

Climbing the Wall is suicide, but what comes after the Heist could be worse. Should he sit back and wait to be taken–or risk everything on the hope of the other side??

. . .

A more easygoing release week than most, this go around. But some intriguing-sounding titles nonetheless…and of course, a release week would be a release week without an obligatory YA dystopian (Taken, in this case…. not at all to be mistaken with the action movie startting Liam Neeson!!)… The latest from Cassandra Clare is a spinoff series that has just an awesomely utilitarian yet also too-cool-for-school title (What Really Happened in Peru). And Paul Cornell’s London Falling (released in UK market late last year) is now out and promises to be a must read for many.

. . .

Anything new to add to the TBR list this week??

Yeah for the new short Jennifer Ashley story! One of the best shape shifter/Fae series out there.

No new releases for me this week. I am curious, though: Does anyone out there still read the Iris Johansen Eve books? They all started to run together to me, but…I know they’re still best sellers.

I’m thrilled to say that, with the exception of the Ashley book (she’s an autobuy for me under all her names), there’s nothing on the list I own/want. Whew!
