Title: Throne of Oak
Author: Dana Marie Bell
Series: Maggie’s Grove, #2
Genre: paranormal romance
Release date: June 11, 2013 by Carina Press

Description:

Vampire Dragos Ibanescu, Mayor of Maggie’s Grove, is about to lose his mind. His mate, the dryad queen Mina Chainey, refuses to have anything to do with him after her ordeal at the hands of an evil witch. If he doesn’t mate with her soon, he may lose control of the beast within him—a force far more dangerous than anyone in town knows…

Mina’s nightmares of her time with the witch haunt her. The Queen of the Forest can’t muster the strength needed to fight her terror. Unable to leave the Throne, she vows she will not accept Dragos until she can stand at his side as an equal. But the nightmares are only growing in strength, and soon she realizes that there’s more to her pain than simple fear.

Dark forces are converging on Maggie’s Grove, and a horde of hunters stalk supernaturals from the shadows. Only by uniting in body and mind will Mina and Dragos find the strength to defend their home.

. . .

Hm. Many YA titles, as expected during the mid-month. Interesting premises both new and familiar, including Linked by Imogen Howson (about a young woman who sees through someone else’s eyes–literally); My Chemical Mountain (about teens and their local industrial wasteland); and Rush (a Hunger Games-style adventure–with aliens!).

If the YA is not your thing this week, there are a few adult titles, mostly themed romances. Contemporary (Playing the Part), romantica (Being Me, the follow-up to the popular If I Were You); western (One Heart to Win); and paranormal (Throne of Oak, follow-up to Blood of the Maple).

Throw in the unusual–Bad Monkey looks like like a wild, weird ride (the title alone suggests it)–and this week presents a bit of a varied set of releases.

. . .

Anything in this set of new releases to sink your teeth into?

Throne of Oak has such a beautiful cover and captures the dryad queen aspect of the blurb quite well. The title is quite good too.
