Book Blurb:

HE’S USED TO GETTING WHAT HE WANTS…

A former football star and one of Chicago’s top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan will do anything to nail a corrupt state senator, which means he needs Brooke Parker’s help. As general counsel for a restaurant company, she can get a bug to the senator’s table at one of her five-star restaurants so the FBI can eavesdrop on him. All Cade has to do is convince Brooke to cooperate—and he’s not afraid to use a little charm, or the power of his office, to do just that.

AND WHAT HE WANTS IS HER.

A savvy businesswoman, Brooke knows she needs to play ball with the U.S. Attorney’s office—even if it means working with Cade. No doubt there’s a sizzling attraction beneath all their sarcastic quips, but Brooke is determined to keep things casual. Cade agrees—until a surprising turn of events throws his life into turmoil, and he realizes that he wants more than just a good time from the one woman with whom he could fall terrifyingly, irresistibly in love . . .

My Thoughts:
Julie James is one of my favorite contemporary romance authors and for a very good reason! Have you ever read one of her stories? If not, just do so immediately! You’re in for a very big treat! So, it’s only logical that Love Irresistibly was one of my most anticipated releases for this year and let me tell you, once more, Julie James managed to make me fall in love with yet another couple of hers!

I don’t know what exactly it is that makes this author’s stories stand apart from any other similar romantic stories out there. Surely, they are exceptionally well written. And the characters are always well-developed and with a solid background. So, those are two very good reasons that make the FBI/US Attorney series stand out. But in addition, Julie James gives to her stories an amazing humorous tone. Her secondary characters are always interesting and fascinating so much that I find myself wanting to read their story sometime. So, to put it simply, Julie James is one of the best romantic authors out there. And for many reasons.

Love Irresistibly is the story of Cade Morgan (we all know him from previous books!) and Brooke Parker a lawyer and general counsel of Sterling Restaurants. Both of them have issues of their own, issues that make them feel reluctant towards a real relationship despite the sizzling hot chemistry between them. Cade has some issues with an absent father while Brooke is focused more than she should on her career. Despite all that, they start a casual fling and before they even realize it, things between them get complicated. Because both of them are afraid to move to the next step even if they want it.
Love Irresistibly is a little bit different from the previous books in the series, because in this novel, the action is minimum. Considering how the previous books had some action in them or some bad guy to catch, I was a little bit afraid that I might not like this one so much. I was so wrong and I couldn’t be more happy about it! Love Irresistibly is one of my favorite books in the series, because it made laugh, cry and  fall in love with both Cade and Brooke.

Both main characters are incredibly well written and realistic. The reader can totally understand their actions and what motivates them, their feelings and their fears. They’re not perfect, but they’re real. For a change, in this novel we actually get to know a lot better the guy rather than the heroine and that’s another one of my favorite parts of this novel. Not that Brooke isn’t an interesting character or we don’t get to know her, but Cade has the juiciest past. And I loved seeing him get over his fear of rejection and become a better man (not that he wasn’t perfect as he was, but anyway, until the end of the story he managed to become even more perfect!).
Another favorite part of the book are the secondary characers and the dialogues. I mean I absolutely loved Ford (Brooke’s best friend) and Zach (Cade’s brother) and Ian (Brooke’s boss). And Huxley and Vaughn (Cade’s partners) and I don’t know am I missing any of the important secondary characters here? You get the picture! Every single character of this book was just plainly amazing and some of the dialogues between Brooke and Ford or Cade and Zach were just precious and made me laugh my ass off! I even enjoyed those dialogues more than I actually enjoyed Cade and Brooke’s sarcastic banter and we’re talking about some great dialogues there too!

Anyway, Love Irresistibly is one of my favorite novels for this year and for many reasons. Written in a sweet and realistic way, with characters that are perfect in their own messed up way, Julie James delivers yet another successful novel in her FBI/US Attorney series.

One of my favorite books this year. I’m guessing the next book will feature either Vaughn or Ford.
