Welcome to this week’s news post! This week we have some fun updates as well as the big news that J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers are returning to the world of HARRY POTTER!

I think most people know by now when news broke earlier this week that J.K. Rowling announcing that she will be writing the screenplay based on HARRY POTTER’S text book, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM which is also a book she released in 2009 for charity.   Warner Brothers will be also producing, who also are producing the miniseries for her adult book, THE CASUAL VACENCY which is due for release next year.  This marks Rowling’s first foray in writing a screenplay and actually approached the studio to embark on the adaption. Rowling also stated in her facebook  page that this movie will be a standalone and although it ties in with HARRY POTTER world it is not regarded as a prequel or a sequel even though it is set 70 years prior the events in the main series.

I think this is pretty interesting news about Amazon which according to one report claims that the big retailer has captured 79% of the market share  in the UK which is quite surprising, because I thought that Apple and Kobo would have claimed more, but they share a very tiny percentage of the market each. But the report also goes on to state that 61% of ebooks read in the UK were free – some illegally downloaded, which highlights the issue of piracy. It is also interesting to note that almost half of books sold were ebooks which is a huge jump from previous years, which shows how much Amazon has grown during the past few years in the UK.

And talking about Amazon they have also released pictures of their upcoming tablets which replace their current crop of Kindle Fires and Kindle HD which are already out of stock with some retailers or heavily discounted to make room for the new devices. News in Brief:

Ron Moore’s casting for Claire has been found! Irish actress, Catriona Balfe, filming is to start next spring with an autumn premiere for Starz.

And on more casting news, Julianne Moore has signed up for MOCKINJAY parts one and two for the role of Alma Coin!

Fans of the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES series can rejoice! Authors, Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl are teaming up again for another entry for the series.

And I am going to leave you with this, a GAME OF THRONES fan has mapped out his heart graph when watching the infamous Red Wedding scene from the series. You can check out what death really affected him, although I have to say, I hope he does one for the upcoming Purple Wedding!

Now for books to watch out for!

THE GOLDEN CITY by J. Kathleen has definitely perked my interest! And I am sucker for this premise!

For two years, Oriana Paredes has been a spy among the social elite of the Golden City, reporting back to her people, the sereia, sea folk banned from the city’s shores….

When her employer and only confidante decides to elope, Oriana agrees to accompany her to Paris. But before they can depart, the two women are abducted and left to drown. Trapped beneath the waves, Oriana’s heritage allows her to survive while she is forced to watch her only friend die.

Vowing vengeance, Oriana crosses paths with Duilio Ferreira—a police consultant who has been investigating the disappearance of a string of servants from the city’s wealthiest homes. Duilio also has a secret: He is a seer and his gifts have led him to Oriana.

Bound by their secrets, not trusting each other completely yet having no choice but to work together, Oriana and Duilio must expose a twisted plot of magic so dark that it could cause the very fabric of history to come undone….

Seanan McGuire has a new UF coming out at the end of the year which looks really interesting!

“Never underestimate the power of a good story.”

Good advice…especially when a story can kill you.

For most people, the story of their lives is just that: the accumulation of time, encounters, and actions into a cohesive whole. But for an unfortunate few, that day-to-day existence is affected—perhaps infected is a better word—by memetic incursion: where narratives the rest of the world considers fairy tales becomes reality, often with disastrous results.

That’s where the ATI Management Bureau steps in. A motley team struggling with their own unfolding narratives, they are tasked with identifying potential outbreaks using Aarne-Thompson Indexing and making sure the story doesn’t reach “ever after”…because if it does, usually someone is insane, dead—or worse. Because with the ATI, it goes without saying that neither a Cinderalla, a Snow White, nor any other character-type on the Index is going to have a happy ending for anyone involved.

Indexing is bestselling author Seanan McGuire’s new urban fantasy where everything you thought you knew about fairy tales gets turned on its head.

And finally we have ROGUE’S POSSESSION by Jeffe Kennedy. I loved the first book, which was a trippy, sexy and imaginative paranormal fantasy and I cant wait to get stuck in this installment in the trilogy.

18428749

A human trapped in the world of Faerie, in possession of magic I could not control, I made a bargain for my life: to let the dangerously sensual fae noble known as Rogue sire my firstborn. And one does not break an oath with a fae. But no matter how greatly I desire him, I will not succumb. Not until I know what will happen to the child.

Though unable—or unwilling—to reveal the fate of human-fae offspring himself, Rogue accompanies me on my quest for answers. Along the way he agrees to teach me to harness my power, in exchange for a single kiss each day and sleeping by my side each night. Just as I am about to yield to temptation, I find myself in a deadly game of cat and mouse with an insane goddess. Now my search for the truth will lead me to the darkest of all Faerie secrets.

Indexing is actually an on-going serial. I think they are up to Chapter 8 right now. But it’ll be finished by the end of the year.
