You may have noticed over the last few months that BLI has been slowing down. Unfortunately, our International Book Congress has been hit with a series of time-sucking life commitments and are running out of time to consistently blog. In October 2013, Book Lovers Inc. will be closing our doors.
Marlene: It’s incredibly hard to say goodbye. I’ve been part of Book Lovers Inc. for two years, since I started as a guest blogger. For the past 18 months, I’ve been one of the regulars. It’s been an absolute blast. We’ve been part of something amazing, managing an international enterprise, and doing absolutely everything online. This has been a special part of my life, and I’m going to miss everyone tremendously. But I’ll still be blogging. If you are looking for someplace to fill that bookish hole in your life, I’m at Reading Reality (Escape Reality, Read Fiction!) seven days a week, with reviews, author features, and book giveaways. And since Cass and I had such a blast when we met at WorldCon last month, I’ve invited her to come and join me at Reading Reality to share in the bookish fun. My universe will just not be the same without having someone to share my bookish ways, and life just needs more snark. So stop by Reading Reality and see what we’re up to! There might be dragons! This just in! I’ve just been accepted as one of The BookPushers! So I’ll also be joining Has (and Cass) in more group book blogging madness in addition to my regular daily insanity at Reading Reality. YAY!
Cass: I’m the newest Book Lover, though I’ve been haunting the comments since sometime in 2009? 2010? (That whole studying-and-passing the Bar period in my life is a blur.) It has been wonderful to be a part of this community and have an outlet for all my book-related snark and obsession. It may be hard to believe, but spending 60 hours a week representing victims can be a wee-bit hard on mental stability. Basically, you’ve all been keeping me sane.
Thankfully, some of my fellow Book Lovers were concerned that I’d have a psychotic break without their support (Can’t imagine where they got that impression. Pennywise is a totally legitimate medium through which to bid farewell.) Thus, Marlene and Has have generously offered to host me on their sites from time-to-time. Once my mourning period is over, you’ll be able to find me at Reading Reality and BookPushers. I hope to see you all there! Even if you continue recommending Dragon Porn and driving me to drink. I am a lawyer after all. Gotta build up that alcohol tolerance.
Stella: Hey Everyone! This is indeed a sad event and believe us, it is a decision that wasn’t easy to make, but real life has become way too busy for many of us: in the past weeks/months some of us organized their weddings and got hitched (congrats Anna, Amanda and Susi! ), some of us went apartement hunting and moved (good luck Caro!), then some of us changed jobs (Alisha and I did, finally found the right one, the lucky 3rd in the past 6 months *fingers crossed* )and even found love (once again guilty ). So as you could easily see it on the blog due to the slower and fewer posts, with all the new changes in our lives blogging had to take a step back It’s hard to say goodbye to BLI, the blog, our community, my team members girl friends, and you, our loyal readers. I’ve been part of the Book Lovers Inc. team for about 4 years and I loved every minute of it. I met and befriended so many of you across the globe and it was so much fun working on the blog with the Gals. We had a hoot planning the weekly posts and special events and discussing the latest news happening in the blogosphere. I will miss those weekly schedule e-mails and all the planning and just chatting. *tears up* So let’s not say ’goodbye’ just ‘see you soon’, ok? I won’t disappear from the blogosphere, you can find me at my own blog Ex Libris, with many author stops, reviews, giveaways and bookish discussions. And since this is the time for announcements to not end it on a sad note, I’ll share a great one with you: my fellow Book Lover team member, the Coffee Lover and Greek baklawa loving friend (well I am a huge baklawa lover, I have no idea if Anna tolerates the stuff ) but anyway: so the lovely Anna will be joining me at Ex Libris, where we’ll be doing our own small book lover blogging in duo!! (Can you tell I’m excited to have a girl friend over blogging? It’s like a slumber party! ) So for more duelling dual reviews and passionate bookish discussions come by and visit us at Ex Libris, we’d love to have you over!
Anna: Well, there’s no easy way to say goodbye. And leaving BLI wasn’t an easy decision for me. I mean Book Lovers have been and always be like a second home for me. The place where I could talk one of the things I love most in this life: books. And it’s not just that. It’s the fact that from the moment all the wonderful ladies already part of this really fun team welcomed me, they made me feel that Book Lovers was my home. Even if I was then the newest member of the team. But it’s not just the team. Everyone of you made me feel welcome with your comments and your thoughts and support. Because after all, what would be this blog without you? You made it happen and you made it such a fun experience for me and for all of us. So I seriously hope that this isn’t a goodbye exactly. Well, I really don’t want to think of it that way. I can only think of it as a temporary pause until we all meet again somewhere else. We may be parting ways but some of us will still remain active So, I want to thank all of our readers, for their love and support all this time and I really want to take this moment and thank all my fellow Book Lovers for honoring me and making me part of this wonderful team. You mean the world to me ladies and I hope you all the best in the world And like Stella said, to not end things on a completely black mood, I’m very excited to join her over at Ex Libris! After all the companionship and fun I had all this time here at BLI I couldn’t possibly keep blogging alone. It would be too lonely. So the Latin Lover and the Coffee Lover will join their forces and their mutual love for books and all kinds of sweet treats ( Yeah I’m a huge baklava lover myself too!!!). So, feel free to join us at Ex Libris to read our latest reviews and bookish news!
Alisha: On a beautiful, fateful day two years ago, I was lucky enough to have officially joined the crew of my absolute favorite blog crew in the book blogosphere, as The Needy Lover. (Shout out to Anna The Coffee Lover–”born” as Book Lovers at the same time, woot!) There was something about the energy, the fun personalities, the camaraderie, the humor, the great content, the knowledge of genre fiction, the deep love of reading, and the awesome(!!!) visitors and regulars to the blog (Susan, aurian, blodeuedd, LSUReader, Sullivan McPig, Erin, Maureen, Victoria, Diane, Ren, JenM, Laura, Mary, Melissa…the list goes on, you guys are so amazing)! I’m feelin’ so absolutely privileged to have been a part of this amazing BLI team, and as a huge fan of the blog before that–many thanks to the authors, BLI crew past and present (I love you gals, I do), and YOU the readers and lifeblood of it all. Thanks for the forever memories and the good times, for making this a real readerly refuge! As the ladies are saying here, this isn’t a total goodbye–we’ll still be around on various parts of the blogosphere…(we’re like amoeba! or spores!). You’ll find me book chatting away on Goodreads (or BookLikes, if you’ve moved on from GR!), Twitter, and perhaps occasionally navel-gazing on My Need to Read…and, of course, making the comment rounds at the other blogs listed here! See you there!!!
Has: It is really hard for me to say goodbye to a great site and the friendships I made over the years. And while I was hopeful that the site could continue in some way, This was not meant to be, sadly – But I would like to give a huge THANKS and*HUGS* to all the authors, readers and most especially for my fellow Book Lovers Inc team for being a part of a fantastic place where we could share our love of books. I don’t see this as a real goodbye because we have other sites and we will be around in the blogosphere and social media. I am so going to miss this place – I love you all! *HUGS*
Jackie: I’m with everyone here in saying that goodbyes are just such terrible things. This is a big part of why I haven’t been able to actually do this before now, though life has become so full that blogging has taken a back burner…like way back there…for me. This lovely group of ladies have been a blast to work with and not having our weekly emails, sometimes running into the high double digits for replies, really feels like losing a best friend (or two or three…etc.) But it isn’t just about saying goodbye from me, it’s about losing this awesome blog (which I hope is only a temporary thing, you never know, I guess.) It’s been the place to be for great reviews, guest posts, giveaways, and so much more, for so long now that it will be strange to say the least. I wish all the best to my “co-workers” and friends here on the blog, though I will stay in touch as often as I can. I will still be around, on Goodreads or Twitter, though even those venues are sporadically visited by me as well right now. My blog, The Novel Nation, is also up and running (neglected at this point, but with the intention of breathing new life into it soon) and you can also find me over on Heroes and Heartbreakers. I want to say thank you to all the readers for great bookish conversations and leave you all with great big, squishy *hugs*. Goodbye…for now.
Caro: I never thought it would be so hard to say goodbye so I’ll try to make it short. BLI has been my home for so long it’s hard to imagine my life without it, was it 5 years ago it all started? I can’t even remember. I was there when it was just a mad plan in our book -loving minds and I am proud of what we made of it. I’ve met so many fantastic people thanks to BLI, members of the staff (ladies you rock!!) but also fantastic other bloggers and AMAZING authors (I’m totally talking about Suzanne MacLeod!).
I will always be thankful to BLI for bringing me Susi who has been the best friend I could ever find! I remember the first time she approached me with this crazy idea of starting an international blog, she wanted me to be part of it! How crazy was that?!! Now I just couldn’t do without her!
It’s very difficult to let go and admit defeat but life happens (new job, new apartment). I want to remember BLI as the fantastic experience it was for me. I gave it 100% and I got so much in exchange. I will NEVER forget the awesome people I met through BLI. I’m not blogging anymore (for now, who knows what the future holds for us) but you can still find me on twitter or goodreads.
Thank you all for the awesome memories.
Susi: As all the others said I never thought this adventure of Book Lovers Inc. would end. From the start BLI was something special for all of us. We were full of ideas and wishes- making book blogging international. Giving everyone the same chance at winning things. It wasn’t always easy and sometimes it was a pain but we did it. It was a fun ride and we met so many great people in the blogosphere. Sadly real life caught up on us. Many changes and new situations kept making it harder and harder to keep up with alll the background work and well the fun stuff as reading.
Book Lovers Inc. wasn’t only my “baby” it also brought some extraordinary people into my life. I’m unbelievable thankful for that. I won’t be blogging anywhere for now but will still be around on twitter or goodreads. Thanks to all of you for these years as much fun as they were. You are what made Book Lovers Inc what it was. DANKESCHÖN!
