Holy shit, it’s Sunday already? Where did my Saturday go?! Hell, where did my week go?

It is 28 degrees Fahrenheit as I type this, so in case there are any doubters out there….

Which means it is clearly time to stock up on books! Before the road is closed for avalanche blasting, or the internet is down due to storms, or I have a psychotic break in the coming darkness. (Yes, the singular is correct. There is one road.) This week we’re stockpiling….

Opposites attract… Even if he is the catch of the season, Charlotte Livingston has a low opinion of the wildly handsome Marquess of Camryn. Bookish Rant: Revisiting Re-Reads

Amongst all of us book lovin’ fiends around here, it’s no surprise that we all read every- and anything that looks and sounds promising. The first time you read a great book can be nearly indefinable in the emotion and excitement it engenders. But what about multiple readthroughs?

Lately, I’ve found myself reaching to the back of my bookshelves and rereading some beloved titles, from the early Kara Gillian books to the Chicagoland Vampires series and, most recently, the September BLI Book Club pick, The Iron Duke. In the middle of reading a new book recently, I even stopped suddenly, immediately grabbed up my well-loved copy of Beguiling the Beauty by Sherry Thomas, and proceeded to reread my favorite sections (read: more than 60% of the book) over the few hours that followed. A recent “Booking Through Thursday” topic got me thinking even more about rereads…namely, what’s the aim …

Adventures at WorldCon

Labor Day weekend, 2013. Two intrepid Book Lovers abandoned their posts at BLI, and headed to the Armpit of the U.S. for a festival occasionally know as “WorldCon.” Broiling temperatures so hot that iPads refused to function could not keep Book-Lovers from their Tribe.

These are their stories.

Marlene: I went to a lot of terrific panels. The “Just a Minute” panel on Thursday night with Paul Cornell, Connie Willis, Mur Lafferty, Emma Newman and Gary Wolfe was side-splittingly funny. There were a lot of others, as well as a whole bunch of times I really could have used a clone. Possibly two or three clones. Somebody needs to get right on that.

Cass: Are you INSANE?! Don’t you know what happens when you clone yourself? One of you always has to die. (Spoilers …

This last Labor Day weekend, two of your intrepid Book Lovers abandoned their posts here at BLI, and headed to the Scariest Place in the U.S. – commonly known as Texas – for WorldCon. Marlene: I have already blocked out my vacation for next year. We’re going to London! It had been too damn long since we’ve either taken a vacation or gone to Worldcon, and we’re not letting that happen again. This was too much fun and damn but we needed the break.

Last year at Dragon*Con we were both thinking we should have been at WorldCon instead. We were …

How was your weekend? Mine was super busy: it was my dad’s 60th birthday so on Friday I took a plane at 6am (meaning I had to get up at 3am to get in time to the airport) and spent the past 3 days with intense family events and nonstop celebrating! Now I would need at least 2 days to get some rest but work will resume tomorrow with another long week *sighs* Well until then here is this week’s winner:

Damn, guess that means I’ll have to pay off my massive WorldCon credit card debt after all.
