My Wishlist: The Series (Re-) Read Edition

I received an email from Audible with a great offer for ‘Book One’s’ of a bunch of series’ and it got me thinking about the ones I haven’t read yet…and also the ones I’d love to re-read, if time were available. There are just so many!

First, Anne Rice has a new book due out next week (which I will be reading ASAP), but in the news yesterday was the possibility of Tale of the Body Thief being made into a film. This would mean casting a new Lestat, which is an exciting prospect, I think. This got me thinking about how much and why I loved the Lestat books, fueling my desire to experience them again. Anne Rice was probably the first (and perhaps the best) author that worked history into her stories in such a convincing way. From working on a master piece in Italy, to a monk’s …

Around the Bookish World : News Week-in-Review

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving last week and as you can see we have moved to WordPress and with a new look!

The major news this week, has to be the death of Anne McCaffery who died earlier last week. I LOVED her Pern and Hive series books, and I am totally gutted by this news but she has left a great legacy of books, which I highly recommend you check out because they are truly wonderful!

WH Smiths has announced that they will be offering the Kobo Colour tablet, which will be offered at £169.99. I think this will capture an audience who may be wavering on getting an ereading device but will check this out because it is a cheaper alternative to the ipad and similar tablets. I think this will give an edge on the Kindle Fire which isn’t available in the UK at the moment.

Explore This! New Orleans, Louisiana

Recently, I’ve been reading Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series, which features Meghan Chase, a half fey princess that hails from some unknown place in Lousiana. On her way to saving both faery and human worlds, she makes a stop in New Orleans. This is one place that has always been on the top of my must see list! I romanticize about the cajun food, the French Quarter, and the langurous sounds of jazz playing somewhere n the background. Though weather has treated this city poorly, especially in the last ten years, it is a place where I think you would feel like time has stood still…or at least there’s no need to rush it.

New Orleans site towards the end if the Mississipps River,
lends itself to beauty as well as …

Keta: And thank you for agreeing to host my blog tour for Where The Rain Is Made.

BLI: When did you seriously sit down, and say to yourself, I’m going to write a novel?

Keta: I really never sat down and said, “I’m going to write a novel.” I wrote a sensual historical romance based on a family history story, one slow chapter at a time. When I was finished, a few friends encouraged me to submit. I knew very little about the craft when I wrote it, but submitted to a very small press. With a lot of help from one of their editors, the book was eventually ready for publication. And …
