Please give a warm to welcome Dawn Miller today! Her latest book, The Prophecy was released earlier this month.

The Monster Lover: Can you tell us about The Prophecy?

Dawn Miller: The Prophecy is the story of five unlikely heroes that are thrown into the middle of an angelic war breaking out across the planet…that no one else can see. The problem is, while they aren’t aware that they are the five prophesied about, the fallen know and put a bounty on their heads to take them out before they can become a threat to their plan. Thrown into a deadly race against time, the five are forced to search for the key to their past that unlocks the power to fight the fallen as they move into position for the final strike against mankind.

The Monster Lover: What was your inspiration for writing this series?

Dawn Miller: My inspiration came from seeing the deluge of supernatural stories; books, TV series, movies and I couldn’t help wondering what if: What if we could really see what is going on around us in the supernatural realm–how would we react? I took it several steps further by creating characters with checkered backgrounds and very little belief in the supernatural but to me, that is what makes their journey all the more believable.

The Monster Lover: In the book, the main characters are born with a special ability to ‘see’ things others don’t which could help save the world. Do you believe in destiny?

Dawn Miller: I do. I believe we have all been given gifts that can affect the world–that God planted a a greatness in each of us. That doesn’t mean that we are all meant to be Watchers and fight fallen angels but I think each of us, no matter who or what we are can make a difference in the lives of others.

The Monster Lover: All five main characters seemed to have struggles throughout their lives, more then the average person. They are also followed by both angels and fallen angles. Why did the angels not step in to stop all the bad things from happening?

Dawn Miller: I have found a reoccurring theme: many people who achieve great things did so by overcoming great odds. I think the struggles in life–if we press through them–can create a strength in us that we never imagine possible.

The angels allowed the five Watchers to go through what they did so that they could see the truth clearly. Sometimes our vision is so distorted by the problem, we can’t see the truth of how we got there until we are on the other side of the struggle. If the angels had merely stopped the bad things from happening, the five would never have searched their hearts and minds to remember how they got to where they were–or the gifts they had implanted in them since they were small children that would ultimately help save the world.

The Monster Lover: This is book one of a series, how many are planned & can you give us a sneak peak into book #2?

Dawn Miller: I have four more books planned for this series, each told in the point of view of one of the Watchers. The next book, DELUSION, will be from Carly’s perspective in the midst of the battle. Exciting stuff ahead! I will be more than happy to give you a sneak peak in the very near future!

About the book:

In this intense, emotionally charged supernatural thriller for young adults by author Dawn Miller, the angelic forces of heaven and hell wage battle over mankind, placing five gifted teenagers in the middle of a war only they can end. Each of the five has struggled since a terrifying night in their childhood, and as memories of that evening’s events come rushing back, and the dark angels make themselves known, they discover that what was meant to destroy them has instead opened their eyes to a world otherwise hidden from humankind.

About the author:
Dawn Miller is an award-winning filmmaker and author who has written and produced several books, a music video and an urban teen drama. She lives in St. Louis with her teenage son and is currently at work on the graphic novel and feature film version of “The Watcher Chronicles”.
