Reckless by Cornelia Funke

For years, Jacob Reckless has been secretly disappearing to another world, a world behind a mirror, a world for which his father abandoned his family. The mirror world is Jacob’s escape from reality. It’s a place for treasure hunts and magnificent quests. A world where witches haunt the forests and giants and dwarfs roam. A world locked in a deadly war.

Jacob’s secret seems safe, until one day his younger brother Will follows him, with disastrous consequence. Faced with a curse that is quickly turning Will to stone, the Reckless brothers are thrust into a race against time to find a cure before Will is lost forever.

Inspired by the Brothers Grimm, master storyteller Cornelia Funke introduces a lush, enchanting world where fantasy meets reality. Reckless is a thrilling adventure, a tale of heroism and loyalty, filled with danger, mystery, and magic–with fairy tales and legends re-imagined as never before.

Oh Jackie, you are ruining my book budget every week with this post. 😉 I absolutely love the cover for Reckless. I think I had to buy a book just for the cover this would be it. Thanks again for the great post.

@Melissa – I'm so sorry, lol. It is a wicked cover. I haven't read any Funke but may have to in the future….the distant future, at this point :-p

I haven't even heard of Funke until now. But by that cover, it should sell off the shelves in no time. 🙂 Yeah, I know the feeling of distant future. Thanks for again for the books heads up.

Cornelia Funke is really famous German author. And her Inkworld books are awesome. They already made a movie out of them with Brendan Fraser.

@Melissa – I've heard of Funke's Inkheart etc. books. I've always been interested but haven't read them yet.

@Susi – I didn't know she was German! I <3 her name. I caught a bit of the movie, it looked cute but I'm sure I'll check out the books one of these days (books are always better, right?)lol.

I didn't realize that was the authors name of Inkheart. Thanks! I saw the movie with my son and he wanted to read the book with me…until he saw the length of it (it scared him). But in a few more years maybe he wont be so scare of a large book. 🙂 He's aways afraid he will forget what happens as he reads and not get done with it.

@Melissa – It's neat to see the kids progress in their reading abilities. I offered my daughter Twilight (she's 8) but she said no way. Maybe in a couple of years. Also, I just got an offer to review Reckless, so I'm giddy!
