Bookish Rants or Raves: Getting To Meet Your Favorite Authors in Person!

Filed in Bookish Rant or Raves , The Crazy Lover Posted on November 18, 2010 @ 12:00 pm 8 comments
When my reading addition started, meeting one of the authors I so loved to read was something I never even considered within my realm of possibilities.
Then, when I started book blogging, I was well aware how hard and almost impossible it would be to meet my literary idols, but I started to get the craving for it.
Difficulty with meeting authors I love and attending signings and conferences is just one of the obstacles we face as international book bloggers. However, September this year I got the chance to go to a Book Conference in The U.S. (I talked about it HERE) and since my 10-day trip turned into a 3-month one, I had the chance to go to The New York Comic Con in NYC and meet some of my favorite authors ever!
It was so much fun adn unbelievably surreal to talk to Jeaniene Frost, Jocelynn Drake, Caitlin Kittredge, Seanan McGuire and more, the most amazing thig for me was that they actually knew my blog! SQUEEEE! =D

Here are some pictures of me and these authors:

Me and Senan McGuire!

Me and Caitlin Kittredge!
Funny story…
At her publisher’s booth I heard she was around so I was sticking close by and try to see her, then my friend that had gone to the restroom called and told me to run there LOL

Me and Jocelynn Drake!

Me and Jeaniene Frost!
I am planning on coming next year again and attending the Authors After Dark Conference, let’s hope it will all work out!
How about you guys? Any authors you’re dying to meet?
Any authors you have met?
Any funny/interesting signing stories??

I am so jealous that you got to meet Jeaniene Frost!!!! I cannot wait for AAD 2011. I did meet Jennifer Armintrout at AAD 2010 and swooned.

Really what author wouldn't I want to meet!?

Oh, Gosh, I am so jealous!!
I live in Greece and have never traveled abroad.
I doubt I will ever do anytime soon with this economy but anyways! lol

I am always so eager and excited to read about meetings with authors and conventions and get a feel of what they are like as a person.
It's so awesome that you have that chance!XDD

    Love the pics!

I met quite a few of them at RT this past year! And I LOVED it. Totally bummed I can't make it next year to LA, so I plan on going in 2012 when RT will be in New Orleans! Hoping all my authors are there as well!

I even got to talk with some of my fave authors at RT. I chatted with Rachel Vincent for awhile along with Devon Monk, Jenna Black, and Jocelynn Drake as well! Then I even had lunch with them!! That's my fave story to tell about RT as well!!!! My second greatest trip I ever took!

**First was an international trip overseas and I put Disney World in its own category because it's Disney!

I've been fortunate enough to meet a few over the years and it is fun. I've met Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs, Morgan Ashbury, Seleste deLaney, Ian O'Neill, Raina James, Lynn Flewelling and Paul Stookey. Someday I would love to attend a major conference like RT or AAD. That woudl be so cool!

I have never been to a signing before b/c a favorite author has never been to where I live, but OMG. Richelle Mead author of theVampire Academy Series will be coming in a few weeks and I am so excited and nervous to go meet her.

I don't know what to expect at a signing. Still deciding what 3 VA books I want to get signed.
