Book Blurb:

Man’s best…matchmaker?

Montana Hendrix has found her calling—working with therapy dogs. With a career she loves in a hometown she adores, she’s finally ready to look for her own happily ever after. Could one of her dogs help her find Mr. Right…or maybe Dr. Right?

Surgeon Simon Bradley prefers the sterility of the hospital to the messiness of real life, especially when real life includes an accident-prone mutt and a woman whose kisses make him want what he knows he can’t have.

Scarred since childhood, he avoids emotional entanglement by moving from place to place to heal children who need his skillful touch. Can his growing feelings for Montana lead him to find a home in Fool’s Gold, or will he walk away, taking her broken heart with him?

My Thoughts:

After reading Only Mine all I wanted was to get the next book so I could plunge right back in Fool’s Gold. Only Yours focuses this time on Montana’s story. I can already tell you it was a cute and funny story! Not that  I doubted it would be anything but. *wink*
Montana has a job she loves, training dogs so they would help people. I have to say I envied her job. Who wouldn’t like training puppies into being serviceable dogs! I love how Susan Mallery characterized Montana’s dogs. They are so cute and I’m sure if you have a dog it’ll make you want to reach out and pet it. I’m a sucker for cute pets in books (yes I’m easy like that). And what did you know that one of Montana’s puppy landed her right into the arms of a very sexy man. I couldn’t help but laugh at how it happened.
Cue dark and sexy hero, aka Simon.  Ladies, prepare the fan because this hero is one tough cookie. I do have a thing for jerk/dark/brooding/scarred/sexy heroes…well isn’t that my luck! Here we are with the perfect candidate. *g* Simon is tortured and no, I didn’t always understand him, but sometimes people are weird that way and they don’t always make sense. At least he had the good sense to realize it ;).
We could say that Montana didn’t really make a good first impression, but the same could be said for Simon. They got off on a rocky start but I loved the sexual tension between them. Simon is…intense…and it was very interesting to see how unsettle he was around Montana.
Only Yours is a sexy and cute story. I’m dying to read the next book to read more about the triplet’s mother. She has one really fascinating story and I cannot waiiiiiiit to see where this go *g*. My only complaint about the story is that it felt a bit like a dejà-vu. Well maybe it is on purpose but some things were a bit too much like the first book. The story is predictable but it doesn’t take any fun from reading it, I’d even go as far as to say that it was reassuring to know I could predict how it would end (I don’t do well with suspense).
I can say it with all my heart this book was a very good Summer read. If you’re not already addicted to Fool’s Gold you should definitely give this series a try.

I give Only Yours 4 Bookies

@Blodeuedd It's exactly what this series does to me. Make-me-feel-good books. I'm excited about the 3rd book!!!!

I love a good "feel good" romance and I'm just starting to read this one. Fools Gold, what not to like?

  • pattepoilue August 20, 2011 at 2:20 pm

@Marilyn Oh I hope you'll enjoy it too! *g* Next on my list of feel good romance I have the next Kristan Higgins *happy sigh*.

You make it sound lovely, I can't wait to read it! 😀 And I loooove the cover it is so sunny and wonderful, reminds me of summer days :-)) *dreamy sighs* Can't wait to start reading Only Yours, Simon sounds like an interesting hero (and yep, I'm so excited about the new Kristan Higgins novel!!) 🙂

This is just another great Susan Mallery book. I found Simon to be the most compelling of all of Susan's heroes and he made me not want to put the book down or have it end!

I cannot wait to get my copy! I've read the excerpts (at http://foolsgoldca.susanmallery.com/bookstore.html) and was hooked! I can really identify with the glimpse I got of Montana – not always successful, but with a big heart.

I have a serious soft spot for those dark tortured types myself and Simon fit that bill! I was a little tense towards the end though, to me, it wasn't as predictable as Only Mine.

  • pattepoilue August 24, 2011 at 1:57 pm

@Stella Yes that cover is just perfect for the summer days indeed. *g* Simon is so broken and brooding I couldn't resist him. I hope you'll enjoy him too!
And squee about the Kristan book. It's on my 'very soon' tbr list.

@Stacey *g* I think what I loved about him was that his way of thinking was wrong and he mend amends and realized he'd be wrong (in a way) I'm excited to read her backlist. So far I've been very pleased by her books.

@Kelly I hope you get it soon! And I hope you'll enjoy what you'll read *g* .Those excerpts can be torture when you're waiting for your copy. Montana was a very easy to love character.

@Jenn Me too! He's got everything I like about brooding/scarred heroes.NOM! I think it tells a lot about a book if I don't mind too much the bit of predictability in the story. Aren't you excited about next book now? *g*

I thought Only Mine was my favorite of the Fool's Gold series until i read Only Yours!!

  • CHA-CHA August 26, 2011 at 7:26 pm

Only Yours really did a number on me…Simon had me drooling thru the whole book; made myself read it so slowly I set a new record for slowest book ever read! Hope everyone enjoys as much as I did!!!

I love the tag line… Let the book talk begin!! Great book! Lots to talk about. Susan creates dreamy characters that hook you into their stories and make you want to know more about their lives. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • pattepoilue August 29, 2011 at 12:46 am

@Beccie Same happened for me! LOL I hope it'll be the same for Only His *g*

    @CHA-CHA *g* He's definitely drool-worthy. I loved when he got angry. NOM

@Tiffany Exactly! When I finished these books I wanted to soak into Gold's Fool , wanted to jump back in. Such a fantastic town and characters. *happy sigh*

I always enjoy visiting Fool's Gold…it keeps getting better and better! Simon's dark moody side and Montana's heart of gold kept me hooked, but the dogs…I LOVED THE DOGS! Only Yours is on my MUST re-read list!
