Explore This! Malta

I seem to be in a vicious cycle of revisiting past locations in any of the books I’ve been reading lately, so I thought I would take a different route today. I’m currently reading I Am Half-Sick of Shadows by Alan Bradley. The book takes place somewhere in the English country side, but I thought it would be much more interesting to see where the author lives.

In fact, Mr. Bradley grew up in a town not 20 minutes from where I live now, but he has since moved to the lovely island of Malta. I have to be honest here, I had no idea where Malta was and (forgive me, anyone who resides there) at times mistake it for Madagascar (it might be time for me to bone up on my geography lessons :p ).

Anyway, I hope you’ve packed your bathing suit, as I whisk you away to the island of Malta, situated in the Mediterranean Sea:

It looks as though Malta simply arose out of the water.

Most of the images I found make it look like the entire place was carved from stone.

What a view!

This makes me wistful about becoming a beach bum.

Everything seems to have waterfront property!

Temple Ggantija

This looks like a perfect place for a trapped princess to while away her time 😉

Nature at its best

Beautiful architecture.

Fisherman's Cove

The turquoise water makes this area look very exotic.

More stunning views.

So, who wants to tease me with their escapades in Malta? It was never really a place I thought much about but seeing these images, I would love to visit!

That turquoise water is so pretty. I love pictures like that. it’s so pretty to even believe it’s real. I was born and grew up in Redondo Beach, California and I miss being around the Ocean so much. Pictures like this are just great.

I’ve only been there once, many years ago. Fab place. Great little horse and buggy rides around the city. And the leather goods were CHEAP! Things that stick in my mind about Malta… Umm…

The boat trip to Gozo was amazing and the water’s around there really are turquoise, the movie Popeye (that dud starring Robin Williams) was filmed in parts at Fisherman’s cove (that pic of it in your post takes me right back), and finally, the hotel we were staying in was top of the range (so they say) and fell into the sea 2 weeks after we left. 😀

Not guilty, we didn’t touch a thing and it was just fine, last we saw it 😀

Malta’s been on my must visit list for a while – ever since a friend came back raving about the place. I must say those pictures do make me want to head straight to the airport! 🙂
