Book Blurb:

Olivia Bishop is no fun. That’s what her ex-husband said. And that’s what her smart bob and glasses imply. So with her trademark determination, Olivia sets out to remake her life. She’s going to spend time with her girlfriends and not throw it all away for some man. But when an outing with her book club leads her to a brewery taproom, the dark-haired beauty realizes that trouble—in the form of sexy Jamie Donovan—may be too tempting to avoid.

Jamie Donovan doesn’t mean to be bad. Sure, the wild streak in his wicked green eyes has lured the ladies before. Now it’s time to grow up. He’s even ready for a serious romance. But how can that be when Olivia, the only right woman he has ever met, already has him pegged as wrong?

The Review:
My expectations for Bad Boys Do were pretty high after I finished Good Girls Don’t, book 1 in Dahl’s new Donovan Brothers Brewery series. Jamie already caught my attention in the first instalment but oh my did I judge him wrong. I expected a fun and flirty guy with tons of experience and even though I knew he wanted to be seen as more I didn’t expect such a deep and emotional plot wrapped around him as a character. Wow ladies, you sure ask the most strange questions. And so difficult to answer, as I have never been to something that could be called “a holiday party”. I am not a funny person, more a quiet, leave me alone in my corner with my book kind of person. So, after some thinking, I really have no answer for you.

  • Birgit December 16, 2011 at 6:32 am

Well, I never go to any “wild” parties or at least I don’t recall ever doing anything “funny” … unless throwing tinsel around like confetti counts!

  • ClaudiaGC December 16, 2011 at 10:46 am

I’m ususally a more quiet and reserved person but under the influence of some alcohol (like mulled wine) I’m getting way more talkative. Makes for some funny surprises at Christmas parties. 🙂

  • erinf1 December 16, 2011 at 10:57 am

I’ve been wanting to read this book/author forever!!! She’s at the top of my wishlist.

I’m not a very wild and crazy fun person, so I’m usually the one taking pics/notes for blackmail at parties 🙂 The only “Christmas” party I attend each year is the one that my best friend’s parents hold every Christmas Eve and it tends to be more dignified and quiet.

Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Holidays!

I’m really really sorry (or not *g*) but at parties I’m not the one doing funny things, I’m the one observing and laughing 😉

  • Andrea December 16, 2011 at 12:23 pm

We decided to do a get-together with about 20 of our closest friends right before Christmas. We all went out to a restaurant, we were having a great time and my husband was driving so I was enjoying the wine that night. We were all getting ready to leave and most of the ladies decided they needed to use the restroom on the way out. I was still gathering my coat and purse so I told them to go ahead and I would catch up with them.

A few minutes later I’m sitting in the stall wondering how I managed to miss all my friends. I look over and see some pretty masculine shoes under the stall next to me but in my inebriated state don’t think much of it. When I exited the stall, I looked up and caught the eye of my male friend in the mirror above the urinal. We aren’t that close so I bolted out the bathroom door and slammed right into an old man on his way into the bathroom. The male friend followed close behind me laughing so hard he was crying.

Of course, the entire group was waiting in the entrance and saw the whole thing. They thought it was hilarious. 🙂

I usually just sit there and listen. Unless its a party I end up drinking at, then after a couple Im pretty talkative. But I dont think its really funny.

  • Mary Kirkland December 16, 2011 at 4:14 pm

Usually I’m quiet and reserved but one year my family went to my Uncle’s house for the holiday party and my brother was making mixed drinks for me to try because I don’t usually drink and he was trying to find one I would like. so I was sampling them all. Yep, I drank too much and so did my brother. We went out on the patio where the pool is and he bumped into me..it made me mad that I almost fell in the pool and before I thought about what I was doing…I pushed him into the pool.

My family doesn’t expect me to do things like that so they thought it was really funny…my brother didn’t though..lol

That would be me probably trying to sing!

  • Karen C December 16, 2011 at 5:04 pm

I’m basically a very shy and reserved individual – the wall flower type. No one really pays attention to me either, so I’ve never done anything outlandish at a holiday party. I haven’t been to a party five years.

I’ve never done anything weird or embarrassing at these parties. I try to lay low.

I got nothing. Generally, all the parties have been tame as have I.

Love Ms. Dahl’s books and whoever wins will get a wonderful treat but know this is the 2nd book in a 3.5 book series. Novella, book 1 (Good Girls Don’t), book 2 – this one, and book 3 – Real Men Will (my favorite in the series).

I don’t actaully attend holiday parties but I did go to a work function once where the men at the party kept trying to ply me with alcohol. I ended up having to explain that I don’t drink and why. It is funny looking back now because these men were all at least 20 years my senior and I shouldn’t have been forced to justify myself!

I just attended a holiday party today, and the funniest thing I did was paint some ornaments badly, eat a lot, and dance with a bunch of people that were way better dancers than me. That’s about normal for me at holiday parties.

Trying tequila for the first time (cheap tequila). I’m told the look on my face was hilarious.
    Never touched tequila since.

I’m not sure this counts as funny, but certainly the oddest thing I ever did at a Christmas party was put out a fire. At a family party years ago, the smoke alarm went off. Our house was crowded with folks who absolutely ignored the alarm. Mom and I met in the guest bath, where we put out a small fire set by a candle arrangement. She and I were the only ones who followed up on the alarm.

I hosted a work party. The dullest affair on the planet. To get rid of everyone I started to vacuum & take down decorations. They eventually got the point. They never asked me to host again – YAY!!

I am what they call a “wall flower” so no funny antics for me at any party! I eat, drink and watch people do their funny things.

I try to avoid holiday parties, but if I do have to go, I’m yet another person who tends to hide in the corners. If I happen to drink too much alcohol, I don’t tend to do anything silly or funny, instead, I usually just start giggling at everyone else and then I can’t stop.

probably the funniest thing was when a group of us tried to sing karaoke – and the picked a rather difficult song too. Fortunately, we had had a bit of wine, so we were all loose & just had a good time with it.

Is it lame that I’ve never been to a ‘Holiday party’? Is it lame that I’m still saying lame? Ah well 😉
This series by Victoria Dahl sounds fabulous!

  • Victoria Zumbrum December 17, 2011 at 8:03 pm

I have never done anything funny at holiday parties. I don’t like a lot of people and I am very quiet. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com

I wore this very short spangly, sparkly silver dress to our company Christmas party and one of the guys I work with took me out on the dance floor for a swing dance. Now, he’s a great dancer but I had never danced like that in my life! At some point he swung me around – and down I went, legs up in the air, short dress hiked up. And, of course, someone managed to catch it on film and the photo got posted on the bulletin board in our lunch room. Luckily not a whole lot showed! 😉 I did take dance lessons after that!

I have never been to a wild party. I am a quiet person so that makes sense. LOL.

  • Maureen December 19, 2011 at 5:18 pm

I don’t really have any funny stories, the worst I have ever done is eat too many cookies.

  • JessS December 26, 2011 at 1:31 am

I haven’t really been to many holiday parties, let alone done really funny stuff at them. That’s more a thing that happens in movies and stuff.
