Book Blurb:

After years of ho-hum dating, Noelle Gregory is tired of fooling around. There’s only ever been one guy for her—Jake Conroy, her best friend’s older brother. Now that Jake’s back in town, she’s headed to his sister’s New Year’s Eve party to make her move. Purse full of condoms? Check. Sparkly dress guaranteed to show Jake the sexy woman she’s become? Check.

Carjacker that makes off with both two hours before the party? Check.

When Jake finds Noelle stranded on the side of the road—looking sexier than ever in her striped socks and silly holiday shirt, damn it—he’s glad for the snowstorm that cancels his sister’s party. His and Noelle’s friendship has tormented him for years, and now, Jake wonders if he should dare to sample what he’s always wanted…and if he’ll be able to walk away when it’s over.

My Thoughts:

The synopsis of No Dress Required gives an excellent overview of this short, fun, quirky romance. As noted heroine Noelle is the victim of a carjacking on New Year’s Eve and the beautiful new slinky gold dress she planned to use to seduce the object of her desire is taken along with her shiny new car. As well, she loses something even more precious. A good Samaritan helps Noelle but hero Jake happens along and is distraught to discover what has happened. Jake has watched out for Noelle for years, she is after all, his little sister’s best friend. His little sister’s very hot best friend, who he can’t touch, even though he wants to. Jake has gone through a rough time following his break-up with the former girlfriend. He wasn’t jilted per se but the reason she left him was a blow to his masculinity.

Noelle has other plans for Jake now that the girlfriend is no longer in the picture and she isn’t about to let Jake coddle her or treat her like his “baby sister’s friend” any longer. The quips and witty banter zing between these two and Jake is surprised to learn that Noelle wants him as much as he wants her. When Jake’s sister gets stranded out of town because of a storm he and Noelle end up celebrating a very special New Year’s Eve at his sister’s house and there is certainly no fancy dress required. 😉

I really enjoyed No Dress Required, and thought Cari Quinn penned a fast paced, cohesive friends to lovers story with characters who came alive on the page. As well, the plot has a couple of surprises in store. Noelle always imagined that her New Year’s Eve with Jake would be a special night. However, what happens when she finds her one night with sexy Jake is far better then she ever dreamed? Will Jake be able to get past his misgivings about becoming involved with his little sister’s best friend?

If you enjoy a quick, humorous, sexy love story with endearing characters you may like to give No Dress Required a try. 😉

I give No Dress Required 4 Stars

Hi LSU Reader! Thank you! I love contemporary novellas, they make for such a relaxing read in-between the full novels that are often more intense. 😉 This one is a real “Feel good” read. 🙂
