I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

Well, now. This is a really, really quiet week as far as book releases go. (Many of what is coming out is in the Young Adult realm, though. I wonder why that is.) But there’s a new release from Sophie Kinsella that looks like a winner (although really, that’s just how Kinsella rolls). Also, how pretty is that cover for Arcadia Awakens? It’s a young adult urban fantasy, one that was originally published in German. Looks like fun! Lastly, I’ve very intrigued by the new Anne Rice release. This book is all about the werewolves–guess she’s over writing about vamps! ^_^

How’s your book week shaping up? Got your new reads already purchased and ready to go? Are you planning on reading anything Valentine’s Day (either pro- or anti-) themed?

Ooooo, When We Were Executioners! Just in time for my birthday! Well, assuming I get my usual gift (book gift certificates) and not a bunch of Tundra-wear. Damnit, people are totally going to get me stupid Tundra-related items. This is most unfortunate.

Aww Happpy Birthday, m’dear!!!! You should tell your peeps to buy you Tundra-related *books*, as those will indeed keep you warm (on the inside, but still).

Ain’t that cover for Executioners just cool? Love the dirty, distressed style. I look forward to your thoughts on that one.

I’m not reading anything Valentine’s Day themed, but it looks like I will finish up Water for Elephants today, which is definitely a romantic story 🙂

Aw, cool! Have you seen the film, or do you plan to see it once you finish the book?

Alisha, I LOVE your new releases posts. I always find something I wouldn’t have stumbled across otherwise. Several this week, including the McDermott book (and I picked up the first one, too). Thanks!

Yay, I’m so glad ya like! I hope your TBR pile isn’t becoming a gigantic monster, though. (Or maybe that’s a good thing? I dunno. ^_^) Indeed, there are so many great books coming out every week that it’s hard to keep track of them all!

Lemme know what you think of When We Were Executioners!

    Ann Rice + werewolves = can’t wait.

I know, right? ^_^ She’s long been the queen of paranormal, so I’m sure she won’t have a problem keeping the crown.

Wow nothing on your list to tempt me this week, my TBR sighs with relief 🙂

    • Alisha February 16, 2012 at 3:46 pm

hehehe…. Yeah, sometime the TBR pile does need a little bit of a breather. Otherwise it turns into this ever-growing blob that demands all of your time and attention.

Next week, however: be afraid. Be very afraid. ^_^

Oh I’ve started looking at Alex Flinn’s books and have become very curious about them. They sound so good. 🙂 And I need to get to Caitlin Kittredge’s YA series too! Ga! To many great books on the horizon, er behind me too. ;D Thank you!
