Book Blurb:

Bestselling author Judith McNaught masterfully portrays a remarkable heroine, and an unforgettable passion, in this powerfully moving love story — one of her most beloved novels of all time!

The tempestuous marriage of Alexandra Lawrence, an innocent country girl, and Jordan Townsende, the rich and powerful Duke of Hawthorne, is about to face its ultimate test of tender loyalty. Swept into the endlessly fascinating world of London society, free-spirited Alexandra becomes ensnared in a tangled web of jealousy and revenge, stormy pride and overwhelming passion. But behind her husband’s cold, arrogant mask, there lives a tender, vital, sensual man…the man Alexandra married. Now, she will fight for his very life…and the rapturous bond they alone can share.

My Thoughts:
Oh well! What can I possibly say about Something Wonderful that will do this book justice? Honestly, this book is so much better than words can possibly describe, so good that I’m staring dreamy eyed even while I’m writing this review and think about it all over again!

Something Wonderful is maybe the best Historical Romance I have read to this day! Yeah, that good! It’s so sweet, so well written, so incredible, that I urge everyone to read it, if you haven’t already! You gather by now, that I really loved this book and then some more!

I won’t say anything about the plot of this book. Believe me not knowing anything, just made me love it even more, so I don’t want to spoil things for anyone. All I’m going to say is, that Judith McNaught is one incredible writer and this book just has the same beautiful writing style as her other books. The plot is engaging and you can’t possibly put the book down, even for a single minute. As soon as you start reading it, there is no stop! Believe me! I skipped sleep to finish this one, I even skipped meals!

Alexandra is the most honourable and true heroine I have ever read, so kind, so good, that I just loved her to pieces! Jordan, is incredible, swoon worthy and all! A couple whose story will just stick to my mind for long since I finished this book.

All in all, Something Wonderful is indeed a wonderful story as the title proclaims, a very touching and sensitive story that will melt you! Just pick this book. You won’t regret it, especially if you are a fan of the genre!

PhotobucketI give Something Wonderful 5 stars!

I really recommend this book to everyone! Yeah, that’s how much I liked it. Don’t read it if you really don’t like romantic books though. It might not be your thing. But if you love romance in your books, definitely try it! Who knows, you might end up changing your mind about the genre 🙂

Hmm…I will think about it. Thanks for your answer.

Ohhhhh now I’m curious and interested!!! I’ve only read 1 book by this author and I loved it to pieces!

You say it’s book 2 , which one is book 1? Was it good? Should I read it in order?
You got my all excited about it now. Happy?! 😉

Caro you should definitely read this book 🙂
Book one is Once and Always and I haven’t read it yet. I usually read them in order but this time a friend of mine recommended this book so strongly that I thought of starting this series from book 2. They aren’t sequels per se, they have different protagonists, so I don’t think you’ll have a problem. I didn’t. Which other book of McNaught have you read?

      • pattepoilue March 8, 2012 at 6:49 am

I read a Kingdom of Dreams and it was sooo good *g*

Ohhhhhh, that was my first novel by the author as well, but believe me this one so much better 🙂 I just finished reading the sequel to Kingdom, Whitney, My Love and I’m sad to say it was really bad… At least I didn’t like it all, contrary to everyone… It was such a let down…

Lol Anna, that sure is a passionate review. But when you say: the best historical romance I have ever read, I do wonder how many you have actually read? Just a gues 😉
I like this author, it has been decades since I read her books though.

Well, there might no be that much, sth like 30 or so, but this book will always hold a special part in my heart. The heroes, the story and the incredibly amazing writing did that to me 🙂

Give it a try Caro, cause it is the favorite book of many of my friends, it just didn’t work for me as I thought it would. It’s a matter of taste, so you should give it a try.

a friend of mine loan me her entire collection of judith mcnaught, and it was a complete collection. but since i’m not in a mood to read a completely romance book, i just pile it up without opening any of them than after a long while, i returned it to her and say i’ll borrow the books again when i’m in the mood to read any full romance book. but, maybe i’ll give another shot..

is it okay to read this one directly or should i read once and always first?

I always try to read the books in order, but in this case I didn’t encounter any problems with following the story. To be honest I don’t even think that there are any recurrent characters. But I always think it’s better to read the books of a series in order.

  • Jan March 8, 2012 at 10:43 pm

I started this series with ‘Whitney, my love’. There are recurrent characters but each book is stand alone and doesn’t need to be read in order.
There is a short story or two to watch out for set in this world.

Off to dig my McNaught’s out for a reread.
