Infamous (Chronicles of Nick #3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

The world has fallen in love with Nick Gautier and the Dark-Hunters. Now Nick’s saga continues in the next eagerly anticipated volume…

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.

He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive such a difficulty? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.

And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.

Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.

Even himself.

So, this week is a bit lighter on the new releases. And you know what? It’s kind of nice. There was a two week period in which it felt like the number of exciting book releases was almost overwhelming. So it’s a welcome change to have the opportunity to sit back and reflect on past, current, and future new releases. For my part, I’m intrigued by the premise of Gentlemen Prefer Nerds (because who doesn’t like a good ole’ Pygmalion trope?), and Queen of Swords looks pretty interesting with its sci-fi romance premise. And you’ll notice that quite a few of the picks above are big-name YA titles. Cooincidence? A case of “when the cat (adult titles) is away, the mice (YA titles) will play? ^_^

How about you? Anything from this week strike your fancy? Something expected, something new? How do you feel about YA–love it, not your thing, or does it depend on the book?

None of those books are on my must-read list, but I admit, some series will probably end up on my wishlist.
I don’t read YA, it is totally not my thing. Though very rarely I try it, when a favourite author spins of in YA, like Jennifer Estep or Lynn Viehl. But that is more the glommer in me.

I feel ya re: YA. The ones written by authors who also right adult fiction tend to have more accesible, less YA-feeling YAs. ^_^

Most looking forward to Gail Carriger’s forthcoming YA series. If it’s got even a fraction of the humor and wit of her Parasol Protectorate books, it’s going to be a knockout.

    I concur, needed a less financially-stressful week.

Got another one coming up next week. Then, the week after that, it’s back to coveting more books than is possible to read. (Damn you J.R. Ward!)

The only one I would possibly think about buying this week is the Vivian Arend. Not much else takes my fancy.

Haven’t read this series/author before, but Rocky Mountain Desire sounds like it’d be fun (and Lea’s review was 5 stars and effusive; can’t beat that!).

Have you read the books that precede Rocky Mountain Desire? If so, what are your thoughts on ’em?

Hmmm, The Gods of Gotham piqued my interest so I checked it out on Amazon. The reviews are really positive, so it may have to go on my wish list. And maybe her previous book, too. Thanks for the tip.

yeah, Gods of Gotham sounds really interesting. Hope Faye did her research, because it looks like the book weaves in several historical events.

I hope you enjoy this one!
