Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward

Ever since the death of his shellan, Tohrment is a heartbroken shadow of the vampire leader he once was. Brought back to the Brotherhood by a self-serving fallen angel, he fights again with ruthless vengeance- and is unprepared for a new tragedy. Seeing his beloved in dreams—trapped in a cold, desolate netherworld—he turns to the angel to save his former mate, only to despair at the path he himself must take to set her free.

As war with the lessers rages, and a new clan of vampires vies for the Blind King’s throne, Tohr struggles between an unforgettable past, and a future that he doesn’t know he can live with… but can’t seem to turn away from.

This week’s New Release list was compiled via the following method:

  1. Compile list of the most exciting, intriguing, promising releases.
  2. Cower in fear of said list’s magnitude.
  3. Run for help; enlist ruthless list-cutting agents.
  4. Cut list in half.
  5. Breath a sigh of relief for TBR piles everywhere, both yours and mine.

There are so many wonderful new books out this week–from the NY pubbies, from e-pubbies, from boutique pubbies, etc. (and I just love calling publishers “pubbies”). New series, old series, standalones. Consider the list above just a sampling (not a “best of”, because that’d be impossible for a New Release list; book tastes differ). So whether your existing TBR pile rejoices in the potential addition of new friends or weeps at its ever-increased burden, I hope you find something you’ll like.

For my part, I’ve been awaiting Amanda Stevens’s The Kingdom since this time last year (look out for a review of it next week). The latest J.R. Ward’s a given (especially for those patiently awaiting Tohr’s story), and a new series opener that looks might intriguing is Wicked as They Come by Delilah Dawson. All perfect for the rainy springtime weather.

How about you? Anything you’ve been awaiting eagerly for ages? Something brand new catch your eye this week?

There are 3 on your list I purchased yesterday and 2 more I will purchase soon.

      Ooooooh…which ones? ^__^

I really do despair of ever being able to read all the books I want to read. Especially with those huge lists of new books. So, I scrolled a little bit fast through it. Two of those has been pre-ordered many months ago: The JR WARD book and Suzanne Enoch. Many hours of reading pleasure ahead 🙂

    • Alisha March 31, 2012 at 2:11 am

Indeed. Every so often, it seems almost overwhelming, the number of great book releases. This week was definitely one of them. ^_^

I need to get in on Suzanne Enoch’s series. Thanks for the heads up!

I really enjoyed Amanda Steven’s The restorer last year so good news about The Kingdom.
I don’t think the Bloodhound files gets enough publicity for such a interesting series – really looking forward to Back from the Undead!! 🙂

yay, then this is a good release week for you! i hope you enjoy the reads. gonna read either of those books soon, or is there a TBR pile that needs pruning first?

  • Sullivan McPig March 27, 2012 at 4:03 pm

I pre-ordered Wicked as They Come, Sins of the Son and Sacrificial Magic. Now I hope they get here soon.

    • Alisha March 31, 2012 at 2:13 am

Solid choices. From, a new series, a new-ish series, and an established one, no less.

Which one are you gonna jump into first?

If you ever need a ruthless list-cutting agent, I am the woman for you. I recently employed such ruthless tendencies in my relocation to the Tundra. I had weight limits. SO MANY BOOKS had to go. I can be ruthless.

    Though admittedly arbitrary and capricious.

    • Alisha March 31, 2012 at 2:15 am

Yes. You’s and me gotta coordinate, dude. I am *the worst* when it comes to pruning things. List-cutting, though necessary, hurts my heart. ^_^

  • LSUReader March 27, 2012 at 11:04 pm

I pre-ordered The Kingdom and A Week to be Wicked. I’m planning to read a few more off this list, too. Should be a good reading week.

    • Alisha March 31, 2012 at 2:16 am

Yes, a very good reading week! Gonna read any of this week’s picks soon?

  • Susan March 28, 2012 at 10:05 pm

I had already pre-ordered a number of these but, as usual, you found some I didn’t have (Fair Coin, Wicked as They Come, Alchemist of Souls, etc.) that I had to clickety-click. Sigh.

I also thought I had already ordered Bear Meets Girl but when I checked and saw that I hadn’t I had to immediately rectify that situation. The Shelly Laurenston shifter books are my guilty pleasure. They’re silly, but they really do make me laugh aloud.

What do the two asterisks after some of the books mean?

I didn’t see the latest Adrian Phoenix book on Amazon. Odd. I wonder if it got delayed.

It may just be me, but I think the price of the Maggie Robinson book is outrageous. I’ve read the first 3 books and now, with the 4th book in the series, they suddenly jack up the price? Really burns me. No thanks.

I also don’t understand the pricing on the Jillian Stone book. I bought the first one (in my TBR pile), but this one’s priced higher. Then, oddly enough, the price for the 3rd and 4th books (available for pre-order) goes down again. I’m holding off on #2.

    • Alisha March 31, 2012 at 2:24 am

Oh my wow, Susan. You rock so many different ways to Sunday! Thank you for your awesome catches. The asterisks were for my own use. ^_^ I’d never heard of a few of those releases, but they looked like “must check this out!” candidates. And check em out, I shall!

Thank you for pointing out the Phoenix release. As it turns out, the book as been pushed back to early 2013. Unfortunate circumstances (the author had some serious injury recovery to deal with, which put her off her writing schedule big-time), but it’ll come. Eventually! ^_^ Replaced the book with “Blood on the Bayou” by Stacey Jay.

Hm. I hope that new Maggie Robinson sell price is for a trade paperback. It does indeed look a smidge steep for mass market.

Oh, crazy pricing schemes. Would be neat to get the behind-the-scenes skinny on what causes the pricing to fluctuate so.

Looks like you’ve picked up a mighty nice group of books this week. Me? Jealous, much. ^_^

Sacrificial Magic by Stacia Kane!!! Yaaay! I preordered it and it arrived on the 28 and now I’m nearly done. It is amazing! And Downside Ghosts is totally one of my fave series now 🙂

    • Alisha March 31, 2012 at 2:26 am

Rock on. Have you read the short story that Stacia Kane put up on her website? (Home, I believe it’s called)
