City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) by Cassandra Clare

(Non-spoilery book description ^_^)

The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues—and so do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon.

Can the lost be reclaimed? What price is too high to pay for love? Who can be trusted when sin and salvation collide?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

Fan of YA books? This is a good week to check out some new, promising series and standalones. Most people will be aware that the latest Cassandra Clare book is being released in the Mortal Instruments series. But outside of that biggie, there are a couple lesser-known but intriguing titles coming out. From early reviews, it seems Andrew Fukuda’s The Hunt is pretty twisted and gritty…not words one is used to hearing to describe YA. (I’m on board! ^_^) Revived is about a young lady who’s been brought back from the dead multiple times. o.O Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock (awesome name, by the way) seems to be getting great early reviews, and looks to be all about werewolves and bloodlust. Yummy!

Of course, there’s no ignoring the latest Laurell K. Hamilton release, Beauty, which is a short story that derives from a scene that was cut from her forthcoming Anita Blake full-length novel. An intriguing choice for a “.5” series release. I wonder if the scene is meant to be outside of the general universe of the book, or if it’s been rewritten as having occured between book timelines. Curious.

Anything strike your fancy this week? Are you a regular reader of YA? If so, what draws you to it? If not, what stays your hand?

I put a couple of books on my wish list, but I’m holding off for now since I have to work on my ridiculous TBR pile. And besides, there are a number of books coming out on May 29 that I want to be ready for. (I hate when good stuff hits all at once and I don’t know what to reach for first!)

I also wanted to note that the 1st books in both the Ava March and Amy Plum series are on sale–really good prices.

Nothing on the list for me this week. I want to read Beauty but I’m not paying £1.99 for something that short!
