Interview with Erin Nicholas and the Bradford Boys! + Giveaway

Some of you may know that I wasn’t a fan of contemporary romances. Then I read Erin Nicholas‘ Bradford series and everything changed. So I dare you to read this series and not to fall for the guys and girl and Erin’s witty and sexy writing! And you are in luck because not only you can get a first taste as Erin brings the Bradford guys here for an exclusive interview, but also because you could win one of the first 3 Bradford books! So please give Erin and the boys a warm welcome!

It’s been two years since the first Bradford books were written. In those books we got to know Jessica, Ben, Sam, Danika, Sara and Mac. And Kevin and Dooley. Those two guys were a huge part of those books and yet, we didn’t get to really know them. Not like we wanted to. We know that they’re funny, can give as good as they get when the guys are joking around, and also have big hearts—they help at the Bradford Youth Center, help take care of Katherine and her friends, and are part of the best paramedic crew in the city—just like the others. But they’re a bit of a mystery aren’t they? We know Dooley is a goof-off and Kevin goes to church every Sunday, but who are they really?

Well, I’m happy to report that these boys finally found the right girls. Not that it was easy. But I had the pleasure of getting to know them both a lot better… and ended up totally charmed.

Recently, I told Dooley that there are a lot of women out there who’d like to know what makes him tick. Being Dooley, he was intrigued and agreed to sit down with me and answer some questions. Which was great. But, of course, it didn’t go exactly according to plan…

Dooley agreed to meet me in one of the conference rooms at St. Anthony’s hospital for a few minutes before his shift on the paramedic crew starts. But just as we were getting started, the other guys joined us…

Mac: Oh, ask me a question about sexual positions or something. Please.

Sam frowns at him.

Sam: No talk about sex with Mac.

Mac: Well she can’t talk about sex with the good Christian boy there.

He gestures to Kevin. Kevin shrugs, but doesn’t look too upset as he chews.

Me: Guess that leaves you, Sam.

Sam’s a well-known playboy. He’s not shy about much.

Sam: Any question about sex gets the same answer from me: Butter.

Yeah, I know this story and how Sam can turn even the most basic food into something naughty.

Me: Well, let’s talk romance then, not sex. What was the first thing you noticed about Danika?

He grins that naughty, charming grin.

Sam: That she dressed like a kindergarten teacher… and that I couldn’t wait to see her in a leopard print bustier.

Mac: Ah, bustiers. What a great invention. Ow!

After Sam kicks him again, Mac gathers up his food and moves down two seats at the conference table where Sam can’t reach him. He glares at Sam.

Mac: Ask me something, Erin. Anything.

Well, I can’t pass that up.

Me: Okay, tell us about the first time you realized that you thought of Sara as more than a friend.

I know too well that Mac, and the rest of the guys, thought of Sara as a little sister for a long time. It was as much a surprise to me as to everyone else to find out that Mac had actually been fighting some stronger feelings for awhile.

Actually blushing a little if I’m not mistaken, avoids eye contact with Sam.

Mac: She started it.

Uh, huh. We all know that Sara made her feelings clear to Mac first… by climbing on his lap and kissing him at Sam and Dani’s wedding, but I’m not so sure that was the first time he thought of her as more than his best friend’s little sister.

Me: So, you never noticed how she looked when she was dressed up and you never had the urge to kiss her on more than the forehead?

It’s interesting to see Mac squirming. Sam’s sitting forward in his seat, his eyes on Mac. Mac clears his throat.

Mac: Um, well, that’s…

He glances at Sam.

No, of course not. I mean…

Then he glances at Dooley. And he grins.

I never noticed her at all. Except when we played sand volleyball and she wore those really short shorts.

Sam scowls.

Sam: We’ve played sand volleyball a ton of times.

Mac and Dooley both chuckle.

Mac: Exactly.

Sam: She was like twelve!

Mac rolls his eyes.

Mac: She was eighteen the first time, Sam.

Sam: And you were thirty!

Mac: I’m still twelve years older than her.

Sam: And I still hate that.

Mac: Get over it. Besides, I never did anything about it before she was twenty-five. Swear to God.

I’m not sure if I should step in here or not. I look around but Dooley’s just grinning and Kevin is finishing off a bag of chips. Yeah, if Kevin—the ex-pro-football player—isn’t stepping in, I’m sure not doing it.

Sam: Well, you frickin’ better not have.

He glances around the table.

These guys would have told me.

But suddenly Dooley is very interested in pen in front of him and Kevin don’t make eye contact either.

Right, guys? You would have told me if you knew anything about Mac and Sara.

Dooley turns to me.

Dooley: So, Erin, what can I tell you about me and Morgan?

This is very interesting. Do I want to push for more from Mac? I’d love to know some of his impure thoughts about princess Sara, but I don’t want Sam to have an aneurysm. I decide to let Dooley change the subject.

Me: Yes, definitely. Tell us about the night you met. What did you first say to her?

Sam: Oh, dammit.

He rewraps his sandwich and slides it down the table to Mac.

This one has jalapeños on it. Yuck.

Mac lifts edge of the bread on the sandwich he had in front of him.

Mac: Yeah, this one’s got the sweet onion sauce.

He pushes it to Kevin.

Kevin shrugs.

Kevin: Mine tasted fine.

He wads up the empty wrapper.

Sam: Hey, that one was mine.

I’m definitely distracted by all of this.

Me: What kind do you like?

Sam: I like a little bit of everything.

He winks.

Just like with women.

Mac chuckles.

Mac: And like I like things spicy and Kevin likes things sweet.

Kevin: I can handle jalapenos.

Now he even winks at me.

Trust me.

Um, wow.

Mac: Yeah, Kev, Dooley mentioned that you might have a little jalapeno in your past.

He picks one off the sandwich and pops it in his mouth.

Wanna tell us about her?

Kevin shifts on his seat and clears his throat.

Kevin: It was a long time ago, man.

Sam: But she was definitely jalapeno-level?

Now they’re all leaning in, watching Kevin. He gives a little smile.

Kevin: Oh, yeah. But more like jalapeno-strawberry jam—sweet with just enough kick to keep things interesting.

His eyes are on his soda can, like he’s seeing something entirely different—or someone.

Actually, it was even more like when you think you’re picking up straight strawberry jam and then you take a big mouthful and get a hot surprise with it.

I look around at the guys and they’re all staring at Kevin, mouths open.

To be continued…

There’s more to come from these guys (of course)! There’s just too much to fit into one day! Join us for the rest of the interview today here!

You can also get to know these guys and their girls— or if you’ve met them already—you can catch up with them in Just the Way I Like It, the Bradford short story… now available for FREE!

Just the Way I Like It by Erin Nicholas

With friends like these…they may never date again!

A Bradfords series short story.

Out of their entire group of friends, Kevin Campbell and Doug “Dooley” Miller are the last bachelors standing. And if their friends’ wives have anything to say about it, they’re both going down—the sooner the better.

Sure, sometimes it’s torture to stand by and watch their friends enjoy true love. But all that touching, teasing, and goo-goo eyes? It gets old. Plus, Kevin and Dooley have their reasons for staying single, and a trio of meddling women can’t change that.

Or can they?

That’s the question that’s making them nervous. Very nervous…

Warning: This Bradfords series epilogue contains six meddling friends, two sworn bachelors and a bunch of crazy set-ups. It’s also a sneak peek at the next two books where Kevin and Dooley do find true love…without any help from their friends.

And you can find Dooley’s story, Just For Fun, which got released Tuesday!

Just For Fun by Erin Nicholas

There’s having fun… And then there’s falling in love.

The Bradfords, Book 4

It was a chance meeting, a spontaneous, hot moment, a never-to-be-repeated encounter. So when the gorgeous redhead he knows only as Sugar walks into the bar and heads straight for him, Doug “Dooley” Miller knows he’s in trouble. But he’s sure not going to mind.

She needs a date to some swanky something-or-other. He’s a fish-sticks-and-denim guy, but for a woman who’s not afraid to get naughty in an elevator, he can stand a couple days of smoked salmon and Armani.
Morgan James admits she doesn’t really know Doug, but she needs him to keep her mind—and hands—off her ex. A man who, despite the fact he stole her ideas, she’s afraid could charm her into repeating her mistakes. Only Doug can make her forget the weasel exists. Besides, it’s just this one time.

What started as not even a one-night stand has Dooley feeling things that he’s never felt before. And that’s outside of the bedroom. Don’t even get him started on what’s happening between the sheets. Why does he have a feeling that, as far as flings go, they’re doing something wrong? Then again, if they’re falling in love, they might just be getting that right.

Warning: Contains a woman who knows what she wants, a man who knows what he doesn’t want, and a proposition that shows them both that they’ve never really wanted anything like this before..

  • Erin Nicholas August 2, 2012 at 4:45 pm

Hi, everyone! I’ve been traveling with my family and disconnected from the internet– which is killing me– and just now finally able to really check in! Thanks for stopping by!

It’s a little late 🙂 but I’ll answer a few questions. I don’t remember when I *didn’t* want to be a writer. I do remember when I decided to actually try to get published though! I’d finally finished grad school and my daughter was a baby. My husband was working nights and so I had some extra alone time on my hands and thought “maybe now’s a good time to try”. And yes, Aurian, Sam’s tricky 😉 As for my favorite show (TV I assume?) I have many. I love TV 🙂 I like many of the original shows on USA (White Collar, Burn Notice, Covert Affairs…) and I can’t wait for Smash and Castle to come back in the fall!

    Thanks again for stopping by!
