Congrats Blodeuedd! I really enjoyed it, but it did take a lot of time, and those pictures I was searching for are really tiny. Even with my screen on 200%. But where is the cover with the peenshroom?

  • blodeuedd October 1, 2012 at 11:42 am

    Yay 😀

Lol, so everyone went for Mercy, well she makes sense 😀

    *smacks head*
    gini Koch’s cover!

Teheee! Seriously sometimes it’s the covers we know best that we forget about.
Yep it seems everyone who entered had good taste in books! lol

  • draconismoi October 1, 2012 at 12:18 pm

See, now you know just how many old Tanith Lee paperbacks I have in my room. I probably could have answered every single challenge with one of her weird-ass book covers.

    Ahhh, vintage scifi randomness.

    • Caro The HEA Lover October 1, 2012 at 12:47 pm

LOL your answers were the HARDEST to count. Seriously LMAO
I’m pretty sure I didn’t know 80% of the covers you named LOL We sure had a laugh with the peenshroom one.

      • draconismoi October 1, 2012 at 1:28 pm

I KNEW there was something hinky about the point allotment. I assure you, I got full marks on every cover! At least, if you think the way I do.

For example: a clementine is a nasty holiday fruit that people put in the bottom of Christmas stocking to taunt you into thinking there is somthing worthwhile left in there.

As for not knowing my covers….well then I guess I could start cranking about a bunch of reviews of weird vintage scifi/fantasy. I’ve already read them and they CLEARLY need to be introduced to a wider market. Because a true book lover does not cringe when seen reading a peenshroom or vulvaship on public transit.

        • Caro The HEA Lover October 1, 2012 at 2:03 pm

OMG Clementine! Bwhahaahahah Indeed we didn’t see that at ALL LMAO
We looked at the cover and looked and looked and we were like O_O where in hell are the themes in this cover LOL Next time we’ll add a comment box for each so you can explain the reasoning!

          What about this one http://img1.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/n0/n4128.jpg
I found Woman, Flower, Red …what was the 4th?

And you got only 1 point for The Gate to Women’s Country by Sheri Tepper. Couldn’t find a cover that matched all 3 =P

Maybe you could have a special series of posts about these vintage books. I’m completely clueless when it comes to older sci-fi/fantasy books

          • draconismoi October 1, 2012 at 3:12 pm

There’s a tattoo on her arm! And if you are really creative, wine IS made from fruit….. 🙂

I’m trying to remember which entry Gate to Women’s Country was for. I actually have two versions of that book in my house. (one is signed by the author!) In one of them she’s standing on a castle looking down at the (off page) senseless slaughter of warmongering men. In the other she’s getting ready to make some wicked bad decisions outside the castle. Both are blue! So yes. Three points. Unless I was using it for a different one…..

I knew I should have googled to find covers on all of them. I only bothered with Tanith Lee ones because she is so obscure. It didn’t occur to me that everyone in the world wouldn’t be intimately familiar with one of the BEST SCIFI BOOKS EVER WRITTEN!!! In fact, I need to read it again. Right now. Damn job keeping me away from my reading.

        • Caro The HEA Lover October 1, 2012 at 3:25 pm

LMAO it IS a tattoo? We both saw a arm bracelet or a sort. and LOL indeed wine is made of fruit. You had us there!

Gate to Women’s Country was for Castle Blue Woman so it would have worked! Sorry! We searched and searched and couldn’t find it. *hang’s head in shame* Ok next time we’ll have a special mention that says ‘Cass must give us links and explain herself’ LOL

So it is a good book? Damn I feel completely ignorant.

          • draconismoi October 1, 2012 at 7:31 pm

The Gate to Women’s Country is an amazing book. It’s amazing in the way that 28 Days later is an amazing zombie movie – because it has all the trappings of a scifi thriller, but then sneaks in an sucker-punches you with some horrifyingly apt observations about society.

I keep thinking I should do reviews of newer books when I read them….but maybe not. Maybe I should start looking back at those awesome books that are out of print and can only be found through dedication at used book stores, my bookshelves, or ebay. The latter of which takes all the thrill out of a book quest.

Ahhh, I really want to play. But real life suuuucks! 🙁
    Congrats for Blodeudd 😀

Nice choice for Street Magic ‘s cover. I love see Paul Marron have brooding pose rather than he embrace some chicks (and why not me, lol!)

    • Caro The HEA Lover October 1, 2012 at 12:50 pm

*hugs* Next time I hope you can enter. It’ll be less time consuming too. (hopefully)

Yesss I actually like him Blond on this cover. And yes brooding *drools*

  • LSUReader October 1, 2012 at 5:07 pm

That was fun. Thanks Susi & Caro.

Congrats to Blodeuedd. I love The Dragon with the Girl Tattoo cover!
