Wizards are dying, and something—or someone—from the Beyond is poisoning the waters of the mighty Mississippi, threatening the humans who live and work along the river. DJ and Alex must figure out what unearthly source is contaminating the water and who—or what—is killing the wizards. Is it a malcontented merman, the naughty nymph, or some other critter altogether? After all, DJ’s undead suitor, the pirate Jean Lafitte, knows his way around a body or two.
It’s anything but smooth sailing on the bayou as the Sentinels of New Orleans series continues.

Talk about unintended thematic connections! Despite the cold weather that’s coming upon many in the northern hemisphere, it seems there are quite a few fire-, light-, and and heat-related book titles this week. Speed of Light; Phoenix Legacy; Into the Fire; Ashes of Twilight; Once Burned; and Luminosity. I wonder if the powers that be planned it all that way. 🙂
If you’re feeling up to some YA, this is a nice week for you to check out the new release offerings; there are books from authors newly published and longtime successes. For example… YA horror master R.L. Stine released a new book a few weeks ago; now the other major name in YA thrillers/horror drops a brand new novel to the masses. (Witch World, that is. This time, witches are the creatures to watch out for!) And on the other end, we’ve debut author Chloe Jacobs’s novel Greta and the Goblin King (which looks like fun and has a neat cover, I must say).
So, take this week to either get in some YA purchases (fire-themed or not), or save your pennies for later this month (after thanksgiving); there are going to be a fair share of must-haves coming out all at once.

Back before I had my Kindle and had to wait to hit $25 for that free Super Saver shipping from Amazon, I’d buy several books at once to hit that limit. I’m also a streaker (in the reading sense, haha), so I’d buy series. Biggest haul was probably 10 books. Now books magically appear on my Kindle on release day– I think I’ve maxed out at 3 or 4 being released on the same day 🙂
I’ve got a couple of these on my wish list. I’ll probably break down and buy the Priest book sooner rather than later. I’m trying to hold off on Penguin books due to price, tho.
As far as your other question, I don’t want to incriminate myself but did you know that 100 is the maximum number of items you can order from Amazon on a single order? If you want to exceed that number, you need to submit multiple orders. 🙂
River Road looks good! I still need to read the first book though.
I want River Road! And that title, Greta and the Goblin King, there is only one Goblin King, and that is David Bowie in Labyrinth.
You really want to know how many books I can buy? Okay, they were secondhand, 2 euro’s each, … If I remember correctly, 168. In pristine condition. But don’t ask me how many of those I have read by now, because sadly, I guess under 30. Bookaddict you ask?
Not really any new releases I’m likely to buy this week, but my preorder of Double Time by Olivia Cunning arrived yesterday!! Really quick seeing as Amazon’s estimated arrival wasn’t until December.
And while I tend to only buy one or two books at once, I have at times bough 4 or 5.
