Romance and Me: New Year’s Eve Romances

Hey Everyone!

In my last rant post I told you how I hated New Year’s Eve, well guess what: in the past 2 weeks, novels set around that time of the year kept coming my way.

I read two of Entangled Publishing’s latest releases: Melting the Millionaire’s Heart by Linda Morris and Yours at Midnight by Robin Bielman, which are both true, 100% New Year’s Eve romances: the hero and heroine share a memorable and crucial moment during those famous countdowns before we ring in the New Year.

And despite not being a fan of the holiday (cough, understatement of the year…), I very much enjoyed these stories, which I believe is due much more to the captivating stories and the great writing, than the time they are set in.

Until now I can’t recall having ever read any story set around that day, stories taking place around Christmas and Valentine’s Day, sure, but never on New Year’s Eve, so I was wondering,

is this a new trend you see emerging?

Have you ever read any other stories set around this time of the year?

Did you find the holiday suited the story or felt the big resolution of the problem/kiss forced to coincide with the countdown?

Do you have any good New Year’s Eve stories to recommend?

ps. after much internet research I found this list of New Year romances (scroll down there are some recommendations for different genres and for adults at the bottom ;-))

Lol Stella, lately you really are immersed in Entangled contemporary romances it seems. Don’t you miss paranormals? I can’t remember if I have ever read a book with New Year as the focal point though. I do enjoy other holiday reads, so why not those.

Yes, with all the work I have I’ve seen my attention span and reading time get quite limited so these shorter and lighter stories are great to keep me interested and entertained. (as for PNR it has been some time since I got excited to read a paranormal romance… the ones I’ve read for last were so full of cliché- and weird that clichés don’t irritate me as much in contemporaries as in PNR, weird I know…). Now a New Year’s Eve PNR that would be quite the combo 😀 lol

I didn’t realise New Year’s romances were a thing. But honestly I still haven’t really read any holiday themed books at all so probably aren’t the best judge of this.

Oh My! O_O no holiday book has ever crossed your way? You should def change that next year, I discovered them about 2 years ago and I never knew how much I would enjoy them 😀 But yes, NYE stories seem like a new thing to me as well…
