Title: Magic Rises
Author: Ilona Andrews
Series: Kate Daniels, #5
Genre: urban fantasy
Release date: July 30, 2013 by Ace

Description:

Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost.

Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.

Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…

. . .

Here’s to beginnings, and to ends (and to middles?). More than a few new series crop up this week, including Why Dukes Say I Do; Indelible (ain’t that a purty cover?); The Devil of Clan Sinclaire, and Earthbound. Along with these are the few releases that bring beloved series to a close (for better or worse!). Kristen Painter brings her final House of Comarre release (called Last Blood), and Tiffany Reisz concludes the Red Years Quartet portion of her Original Sinners series.

One always wonders whether a series has a planned conclusion (a la Sookie Stackhouse) or no forseeable end (a la the In Death series). But those that show no signs of stopping anytime soon are in full force this week: Mythos Academy; Lords of the Underworld; Fool’s Gold; Marriage to a Billionaire (just how many more of them billionaire guys are out there, hanging around?); and The Lying Game. With a healthy smattering of standalone titles in the mix, this is actually one really well-rounded release week.

. . .

Something old, something new; anything you’ve gotta have this week?

You forgot Hellfire! And of course I want the new Ilona Andrews and Jennifer Estep book.

Seriously, were any books OTHER than the new Kate Daniels released this week?

    • Alisha July 30, 2013 at 10:17 pm

Whoa, I totally missed the boat on Hellfire. That whole series is looking so, so awesome…

It is. After Magic Rises, it’s the release of the week!

Really looking forward to Jami Alden’s “Guilty as Sin.”

Yeah, that does look good. Reviews looking promising, too. Hope you enjoy when you try it!

Desperate to get my hands on Magic Rises! Might have to swing past Forbidden Planet today to try to get a copy. (I’d really like the US version so it matches the others in cover style & size, but we’ll see if I can find it.)

Love the Fool’s Gold series, Three Little Words is no exception. The story of Isabel and Ford is wonderful. With the added romance of Consuelo and Kent makes this one hot romance book for the summer.

What a great list and I’m so glad it contained my favorite. It has been a great summer in Fools Gold and finishing up with Three little Words is the icing on the cake. Isabel and Ford discovering each other within the safety of their ‘fake relationship’ is priceless. And for me the 2 for 1 relationship just made my day. I love this book. Everyone should read it.

I loved Three Little Words! This summer’s FG books have been the best yet!
