HE’S MY TEACHER. I SHOULDN’T BE ALONE WITH HIM. BUT I CAN’T HELP THAT HE’S IRRESISTIBLE.I let the door silently close at my back. He stared at me, and a taut quiet stretched between us.“I like hearing you play,” I said, moving toward him.He turned, in sync with my slow approach. He looked up at me but didn’t say anything. When I think of my favourite couples in YA, it’s not because of their hotness, kick-ass status or sheer awesomeness. The perfect couple in YA is a mature one, and one that betters both parties. One sidedness in anything doesn’t work for me, and lack of growth or change doesn’t work either.

Which is why I have picked the following couples, they went in either broken or lost and came out whole with a partner that not only complimented them, but helped them to become a better person.

Alex and Brittany – Perfect Chemistry

A perfect example, and …

Sookie Stackhouse is a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. She’s quiet, keeps to herself, and doesn’t get out much. Not because she’s not pretty. She is. It’s just that, well, Sookie has this sort of ‘disability’. She can read minds. And that doesn’t make her too dateable. And then along comes Bill. He’s tall, dark, handsome – and Sookie can’t ‘hear’ a word he’s thinking. He’s exactly the kind of guy she’s been waiting for all her life.

But Bill has a disability of his own: He’s a vampire. Worse than that, hangs with a seriously creepy crowd, …

All YA Love: Why I love the Vampire Academy Series

Now I will be honest with you, I never really pictured myself as a YA reader, sure, I read Twilight a couple of years ago and it was ok with its whole high school love thing, but it was a little too teenagery for my tastes.
I was put off not only by YA but by reading after that, not Twilight but The Host (which isn’t YA, I know), I hadn’t picked up a book in 10 months and I was going through a pretty rough patch life wise until one relatively normal day, I was on a holiday in north Queensland for a few weeks and I walked into their smaller of only two newsagencies. This newsagency was a reseller for Angus and Robertson (Australia’s version of Barnes and Noble) and there on the shelf was a set of three …

I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

I’d been warned about Strays – werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.
This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back… for my own protection. Yeah, right. But …
