Breaking Dawn news:
Casting rumours suggest that the producers have found the girl to play Renesmee although this is all rumoured right now but the movie will start shooting this Fall and will be split into two parts.

Producers have also said that the birth scene in Breaking Dawn will be visceral and intense but wont focus on the blood but on Bella’s point of view.

Sony has just announced its new ereaders, which will be available soon. All of the new models feature new Pearl screens and will have touch screens, however they wont be as cheap as the new Kindle which I think is pretty disappointing. Random House has annouced it has a reached an agreement with the Wylie Agency after they had stated they was going to offer their client’s books directly to Amazon. Random House will instead be distributing the books under their own name – whether this agreement has a higher royalty rate remains to be seen but it looks like it is very likely and this might lead to similar deals with other authors and publishers.

After making many of his publications, including The Times, Ruper Murdoch is starting up a new newspaper but only for ipads and android phones. This will also behind a paywall but the news offerings will be compatible for mobile devices, whether this will be a successful venture or not is up in the air, especially since Murdoch’s online publications have lost a large percentage of their readers since they went behind a paywall.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the leading children’s publisher has joined forces with Paramount Pictures, Participant Media and Walden Media to donate 100 thousand dollars worth of books to struggling libraries. This week it has been pretty quiet, but there has been quite a few long awaited book covers being released with blurbs and excerpts for the next year or so. So we will start with that this week. =)

First up – Shannon Delany has announced and posted the title of her followup to 13 to Life. Despite the fact there was no good reason why this happened the the library director used child porn as an excuse. The ACLU have found out that a rightwing conservative group contacted the Library director to remove all copies even though there was no formal challenge was filed to the library. The matter is now being investigated by the ACLU.

A followup to my last post the other week about rumours that Janet Evanovich was leaving St Martin. It was just announced that she has signed up to a 2 year deal with Random House – for two Stephanie Plum books and for two of her new spinoff series which features Diesel from the inbetween books.

Leeanna Renee Hieber announced the title for her third novel in her Strangely Beautiful Series: The Perilous Phrophecy of Guard and Goddess will be released in Spring 2011. 
Leanna will also be in London (hooray!) next week and she will have a signing at the Forbidden Planet at Shaftesbury Avenue. Signing starts at 6pm and should end 7pm – if any Uker’s cannot make it you can preorder a signed copy directly at their site.Full details of the signing and preorder info.

Dark Shadows, the classic vampire tv show is being made into a movie and the author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will be scripting it. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are attached to the project. I wonder if any Regency zombies will appear?

And more movie news:David Fincher is slated to direct the Hollywood version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He has a shortlist of potential actresses to play the lead role and will be filmed later this year.

Amazon has announced that Kindle books are outselling Hardbacks this week and it is another sign that ebooks are taking on with consumers.

Amazon has also announced an exclusive deal to publish 20 ebooks from the Wylie agency and its the first of its kind deal.
