Dark Shadows, the classic vampire tv show is being made into a movie and the author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will be scripting it. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are attached to the project. I wonder if any Regency zombies will appear?

And more movie news:
David Fincher is slated to direct the Hollywood version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He has a shortlist of potential actresses to play the lead role and will be filmed later this year.

Amazon has announced that Kindle books are outselling Hardbacks this week and it is another sign that ebooks are taking on with consumers.

Amazon has also announced an exclusive deal to publish 20 ebooks from the Wylie agency and its the first of its kind deal.

John Sargent from Macmillan has responded to this to new move and is not happy with the exclusive deal. I think that things are going to get very interesting in the world of ebooks, Rights and royalties. It’s also pretty ironic that this is an Agency model approach selling these rights and at a set price to Amazon. The question remains is that will other authors/agents follow in Wylie’s footsteps.

Also Sony has stated that their sales will triple at years end, while the Ipad has topped 3 million sales so far this year.

Melissa Marr announces a new series about a young girl who is an assassin and will feature a demon with a soul. It is described ‘where myth meets science’ and the first book of the trilogy is tentative scheduled for 2013.

Netgalley has stated that due to its increased popularity its approach to promote titles is a success; with over 7000 members and plus several major publishers including the most recent major publisher HarperCollins, Netgalley is becoming a huge prescence in book promotion.

And finally!
Here is a fun way to personalise your email by importing your own handwriting into a font just by using a webcam. Now my own handwriting is will make a spaghetti Junction look nice and orderly but its a cute and clever way to personalise emails and letters 😀

So what do you think of the new announcements about ebook rights sold directly to Amazon?
