There was a lot going on in the world of ebooks this week.   The agency pricing model for ebooks is causing some titles to be temporarily unavailable at some retailers.

Sony sent out an email this week to their Reader Store customers that starting April 1st, some titles would be unavailable and that prices on some books would be changing.

BooksonBoard put up a link on their homepage to information about the effects of the new agency pricing at their store.   Until the details get worked out, new orders of the five publishers books are not available.  The new prices will be set by the publishers and many will be higher than previously.  Also, in the US, sales tax will start to be collected on these publishers titles.

Publishers Weekly reported that Amazon is also still working out the details with some of the publishers using the new ebooks pricing model.

The Apple iPad is being released on April 3rd.  It’s iBook app allows it to be used an ebook reader.

April is National Poetry Month in the United States and Canada.  Poets.org has a FAQ about it here.

Many authors roasted thriller author Brad Meltzer at the annual meeting of the Writer’s Club.  April 1st was his fortieth birthday.

Author J. A. Konrath released his March kindle ebook sales numbers on his blog, A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing.  He offers an inside look at how how much money an author makes and how many books they sell.
