Explore This! Paris Suburban Life and Algeria

Last week, I posted my review for Some Dream For Fools by Faiza Guene. The bulk of this story takes place in the poorer suburbs of Paris. We’ve all seen the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, The Arc D’Triomphe, right? Well, our heroine, Ahleme, takes us to parts of Paris that we don’t often hear about. The Pierre de Coubertin Stadiuam, where her brother Foued gets in trouble with his friends, the Galleries Lafayette and the Thiais shopping centres, and the Chatelet-Les Halles, where Ahleme arranges to meet up for a date (this last picture is much older but I’m sure the archetecture remains much the same.) Note: the pictures are in order as listed.

As the story progresses, Ahleme takes her father and her brother back to Algeria where they still have family. I couldn’t find specific pictures of the place names from the book but I found these excellent pictures that show the difference in Algerian city life versus the desert areas. There are some stunning views here:

There seems to be some interesting facets to the Algerian landscape, for sure. It looks quite breathtaking and might just be worth the visit, if it were possible. As for Paris, there’s a very distinct difference between the newer buildings and the classic styles we often see. Both of these places are something worth exploring and I think would offer very different experiences. I hope you enjoyed 🙂

I agree with Melissa. This post series was such a wonderful idea. I google the places a book takes place in so often just to get a feel for the setting.

And OMG I want to go to Algeria some time.

And I think I don't have to mention how gorgeous Paris is? I love this city and I would love to go there every year but unfortunately They are so many other places I want to visit, too.

Algeria was never really one of those vacay spots that would've crossed my mind, but there were so many beautiful pics! Paris was always on the list though 🙂

    Thanks for stopping by Melissa!
