Huge 450 Followers Celebration Contest

We noticed this week that we reached the unbelievable number of 450 followers. Woot woot woot!!!!!

Ahem…nobody saw? Okay back to the awesome followers.
We decided to make this into a big celebration. We want to thank you as our readers for your support and participation. Book Lovers Inc would be nothing without you. Book Lovers Inc became more than we thought it would ever be and we are really grateful for that.
So now how do you throw a party for Book Lovers? Huh, that was a really tough decision. We pondered and brainstormed and pondered some more. 😉 LOL
Yep, you guessed right: we will give away some books! We have a nice little selection. Everything is hand picked by our Book Lovers and we hope you will enjoy those pretties as much as we did. So here is what’s up for grabs:
The Prizes:
2 copies of Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch
1 copy of The Pace by Shelena Shorts
A copy of Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler
A book of your choice by Cynthia Eden
or
A $10 certificate for an online bookstore of your choice.
The Rules:
To enter just fill out this FORM.You just have to do the first part. All the extra entries are voluntarily.
Open to everyone! The books will be ordered at The Book Depository so be sure that they ship to your country. If not you can still enter for the Giftcard. We hope we can make it really open to everyone this way.
Giveaway ends on Saturday August 28th and we will announce the winner on Sunday.
You can earn extra daily entries with tweeting or facebooking this contest. To make that easier for you we made a second form you can see below. Just fill it out when you promoted the post on twitter or facebook.Two entries per day are possible: one for twitter and one for facebook.
We want to make this a huge party so we would be happy if you could spread the word about it.
You would do us a huge favor if you would put our contest button on your blog. And yes there are extra points for doing that.

Now I'm not complaining or anything (because, yay contest!) but can someone explain this 'followers' thing to me?
I regularly read and comment on a couple book review blogs, and I have noticed a….healthy appreciation….for followers. Whatever that means.
Unless it is a Facebook thing. Then I don't want to know. I am still fundamentally opposed to Facebook for destroying my legal right to privacy – and being creepy.
@draconismoi Hey no problem I will try to explain. You see the nice follower widget in our sidebar? That is kind of a list where you say officially that you read our blog regulary. It can also be used as an RSS reader and it will update you in your dashboard about new posts on the blogs you follow. That is how it works for blogger user. You can also follow a blog with a twitter, yahoo, AIM, netlog or openid account. How it works for them I unfortunately can't say cuz I never tried it. It's all in all just to show support and some authors, publishers etc like to see that a blog has a good "fanbase" when they decide to visitor offer giveaways. That's all what it is about. I hope that made sense. And I don't think facebook is involved at all.

Hi, I would have a question regarding the daily "spread the word form": can someone fill out the form twice once for a tweet and once for a Facebook post, or they would have to choose which one they want since it's only 1 sumbission of the form per day? Thanks for clearing that up, I've been thinking and don't want misunderstand the rules 🙂
