After making many of his publications, including The Times, Ruper Murdoch is starting up a new newspaper but only for ipads and android phones. This will also behind a paywall but the news offerings will be compatible for mobile devices, whether this will be a successful venture or not is up in the air, especially since Murdoch’s online publications have lost a large percentage of their readers since they went behind a paywall.
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the leading children’s publisher has joined forces with Paramount Pictures, Participant Media and Walden Media to donate 100 thousand dollars worth of books to struggling libraries. This is to coincide with the release of Paramount’s Waiting for Superman movie which tells of a the current crisis that libraries are facing in the USA about lack of funds for getting books and other resources.

LG have announced that they are throwing their hat in the ereader ring and are developing a solar powered ereader. I love the idea of this especially since I don’t have to rely on charging up my own reader with a usb port or a charger especially if I am unable to do so.

Charlaine Harris has stated at her Facebook page that she has finished book 13 of the Sookie Stackhouse series. No title yet but it should be out sometime in May next year.

Agent Kristen has reported that Macmillan is asking authors for their backlist rights. This is great news for more authors to have their backlists available in e-format however Macmillan did not exactly contact the author’s agents instead which is who they should have contacted in the first place.

Kristin Higgins All I Ever Wanted ebook format has reached #102 in the USA charts, which is amazing! This also shows the rising popularity of ebooks!

LJ Smith is writing a prequel spinoff series of The Vampire Diaries. The new books will follow Stefan Savaltore and will serve as a prequel to both the books and the tv series and will explain why there was deep tensions between the two brothers.
And finally
Rolling Stone has a “special” True Blood special – although I am not sure about the cover as I don’t think the photographer fully realised the implications 😉

But the parody is funny.

What do you think of the True Blood cover – is it bloody sexy? Or fangs but no fangs?

The cover is HOT and bloddy but it looks too photoshopped and touched up to me. Also looking forward to learning more about the solared powered ereader
