According to Publishers weekly over 20 percent of readers, now own an ereading device and buying more books due to this. In a few years from now this figure will almost double and just adds credence that ebooks will be a popular format, compared to print books.
The Bad Sex Awards winner was announced, and Rowan Somerville has won the dreaded award for describing a nipple a ‘nose of the loveliest nocturnal animal, sniffing in the night.’ – From his book The Shape of Her. Somerville personally accepted the award, and stated –

“There is nothing more English than bad sex, so on behalf of the entire nation I would like to thank you.”

Past winners include, Tom Wolfe and Norman Mailer. I do find it interesting and ironic the majority of winners have been men and almost always from the literary genre.
The Bookseller has reported that Google is close to releasing its book platform, Google Editions just before the holidays. Google have been in negotiations and discussions with publishers and its rumoured that close to five hundred thousand books could be available.
Carrie Vaughn’s covers for the next instalments for the Kitty Norville series has been posted on her site. There is also a short story anthology called Kitty’s Greatest Hits which compiles all the shorts and includes the novella that focuses on what really happened to Cormac.
Kitty’s Big Trouble is slated for release in June 2011 and will be set San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Elizabeth Vaughan has also unveiled her next book, Warcry which will focus on the characters that appeared in her original War Trilogy. This book will focus on Heath and Atira – I bet he has his work cut for him!
Talking about covers, All Things Urban Fantasy is hosting the 2010 Urban Fantasy Cover Awards. So go and check here and vote for your favourite covers of the year and what is sweet there is also a giveaway!

Tina Engler aka as Jasmine Jaide has released a video 2 celebrate the tenth anniversary of Ellora’s Cave. Congrats! Funny vid indeed!

Since the bad sex award winner has been anounced, has anyone ever come across a really badly written sex scene from any genre?

Lol, that sex scene must have been priceless

    I'm torn between:
    – the scene where the author kept referring to the breasts of the heroine as teats (mood killer of the cow kind)

    – the scene where the breasts of the heroine were compared to the skin of a baby (mood killer of the baby kind)

    – the scene where the author called the erection of the male character the cause of his desire (as it was no m/m but a m/f story that was a mood killer of the 'Huh? He must really love his own equipment' kind)

I'm still trying to figure out the animal nose sniffing image. Exactly how would that work?

Gee, Sullivan must read a lot of English lit by men to have encountered so many examples. (Poor baby!)
