Ever wondered how author’s try to come up with a guestpost topic? Please welcome the Bree part of Moira Rogers here at Book Lovers Inc today and see how she tries to rock our Blogoversary. Be sure to take our challenge at the end for your chance to win a book.
I don’t always like to write guest blog posts. When I’m on my blog, I can post pictures of cats wearing funny hats and not worry that my relatively silly nature is going to bring down the tone of the place. My blog is, after all, a pretty silly place.
When I’m thinking about being on someone else’s blog, the pressure kicks in. I can’t just talk about cats wearing funny hats! I’m supposed to be a serious author! I must think of something profound and witty to say, or a deep and meaningful topic. If cats or hats come up at all, obviously it should be in a delightful deconstruction of the underlying metaphors in Dr. Seuss.
So if guest blogs inspire such gibbering terror in me, why do I keep agreeing to write them?
Because I kind of love book bloggers.
It’s true, and I’m not just saying that because I’m over here rocking out with some Book Lovers. I really, truly love book bloggers. You’re my people! You’re the ones who think reading 100 books in a year is a slump, because that means it took 3 ½ days to read each one, and that’s so slow. While some people are challenging themselves to read 10 books in a year, you’re challenging yourselves to read 10 books every month. Or 15! Or more, and that is dedication.
That’s what it’s all about for me, in the end. Dedication to reading. Loving books. I love book bloggers because you understand why books are so vital to my life. You understand getting lost in a book, or wanting to be BFFs with this heroine or claim that hero as a book boyfriend. That passion is the best thing in the world, and I’m happy to surround myself with people who share it.
So sometimes I just can’t say no, even if all I want to do is talk about cats and hats. (Really, I need to stop with that.)
Happy Anniversary, Book Lovers! But don’t tell anyone else that I’m such a big pushover, guys. We need to keep this our little secret.
