The International Giveaways Café (1)

Filed in The Int'l Giveaways Café , The Quirky Lover Posted on July 2, 2011 @ 7:00 am 17 comments

Here at Book Lovers Inc., we pride ourselves on being an international group of book bloggers/reviewers/lovers (obviously, right?). But, we’ve discovered that at least 40% of our readers click from outside of the U.S., yet so many giveaways tend to be U.S. only! This seems somehow unfair, considering the numbers.
So, we thought it would be nice to have a gathering place, if you will, where we could all share our giveaways…the international ones…to get as much buzz for them, spreading the word globally. And we’re not just talking about books here: swag, trading cards, bookmarks etc. are just as good and it also makes it easier to keep it international; and don’t forget ebooks, paperbacks from the Book Depository (which offer free worldwide shipping!) too.
Don’t have a giveaway to list? No problem! As the new, hip meeting place, you can grab your drink of choice (around here, coffee of any kind is pretty popular) and settle in to peruse all of the awesome links that have been added.
If you have a giveaway you would like to share with our other readers, the rules are simple:
1. The giveaway MUST be available to international addresses (Book Depository does count)
2. Add your link below, in the format shown.
3. Remove your link when the giveaway has ended (we would highly appreciate this….though we’ll be keeping an eye on them too 🙂

In the spirit of global participation, we hope you’ll join in and show those limited giveaways that there are definitely benefits to opening up to the whole world!

We will repost the link list each week and keep the giveaways that are still running at that time.

Good Luck everyone!!

I'm not international, but I am trying to keep my giveaways international. I think this is a GREAT idea. 🙂

This is a great idea ! Thank You. It is sometimes difficult to tell if a giveaway is international.

Awesome idea. It's always a bit of a bummer to find "US Only" on a contest that you're excited to enter. May this change that for many!

  • Linda July 3, 2011 at 11:26 pm

Thank you so much for thinking of those of us from the International community!

  • Keri July 4, 2011 at 10:21 am

Thanks so much for this! I live in the US now but I'm from New Zealand and it was always so aggrivating to see "US only" everywhere. While I can understand with shipping costs, it was so hard to find international contests. You rock for coming up with this idea and organising it! I'll spread the word.

    Yay great one!
I think it's very useful for us, international readers, to be able to find all international giveaways in one place…
    Thank you!

Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement. As of today, even Book Depository's future is in question as it was announced that Amazon has bought them over. We can only hope that the free worldwide shipping remains, because it was becoming increasingly popular…part of the reason the company looked so attractive to Amazon, obviously. Just keep an eye out on Book Lovers Inc. for contest updates and keep stopping by with your own. It's a total win/win, I think, and all credit for this idea goes to Susi_Sunshine!
