BLI: Hi Destiny. Huge fan here! I am so glad to be interviewing you for Book Lovers, Inc.
Destiny: Hey there. Thanks very much for inviting me over today. I’m thrilled to hear you like my work.

BLI: You have a very busy life I hear with having a family and full time writng career. What is the hardest for you to do more: writing or being there for your family?
Destiny: Finding time to write. My son graduates from high school this year. My daughter is a sophomore. They’re active in sports and on the move all the time so it’s hard to find quiet time to really buckle down and write.

BLI: What is your writing process like? Do you have a daily or weekly word count that you try to meet?
Destiny: It varies from day to day, from one manuscript to the next.

BLI: If there was one thing learned about being a writer what would that thing be? What advice would you give to a novice writer?
Destiny: One thing I’ve learned? Just one? Don’t trust anyone in this business. Trust yourself. No one else. That’s not to say you can’t make wonderful friends in this industry but it is to say where business is concerned everything isn’t always as it seems and nothing is black or white, especially contracts.

BLI: Advice?
Destiny: Stay true to yourself. Never base your business decisions on someone else’s experiences. Make industry-related decisions based on how you’re treated and on the business chemistry found with a publisher and fellow authors. Publishers want profits. Don’t be afraid to show them where you can drag them in. You have to be that kind of writer. Go the extra mile to make sure you hit and exceed national averages. Set the bar high because if you want to be a writer who sells and sells well, you have to get off your backside and work. Remember, overnight success can often take a lifetime to achieve.

BLI: Which of your many characters would you trade places with?

Destiny: Let’s see…today? Audra from Lying Eyes. I’d love to be sitting at a poker table somewhere in Las Vegas while a guy like Max Reynolds makes his play for my hand—Of course we’re talking in terms of poker, not romance. *Laughs*

BLI: Which books are on your pry-them-from-my-cold-dead-fingers keeper shelf?

Destiny: Too many to list but I can tell you a lot of my favorite authors hang out with us weekly at Just Another Paranormal Monday.

BLI: Can you tell us more about your Sport Wives Series.. specifically Damaged Goods?
Destiny: Damaged Goods is Book Four in the Sports Wives series. Damaged Goods released February 25, 2010. A short novella of about 24,000 words, Damaged Goods is Suzy Illiani’s story. She has some serious flaws but what I love about this story is that while Suzy wants to change for Marco, she doesn’t make life-changing decisions based on her desire to please him. It’s more or less just something that happens because Marco points out the errors of her ways and she’s the kind of heroine who doesn’t mind to face the truth and plan for change. Best of all, after she takes charge of her life, she really likes the end results.

BLI: What do you have in store for readers next?
Destiny: More Winning Virgin books are on the way. I have several titles coming soon from Siren Publishing and Shadowfire Press. I’m adding another pen name that will only write in a specific genre which will be connected to another one of my pen names, but more on that later. Most of what I have outstanding will release in late 2010 or early 2011.

BLI: Now for some quickies…hehe!

Great interview! I was wondering if Damaged Goods can be read on its own or if the other books need to be read first?
Oh, and I also agree on the 'men OUT of their uniform' comment! 🙂

Christine and Amanda–Thanks for dropping by. Yes, those men in uniform provide great inspiration for romance, don't they? 😉

Christine–Just started following you on Twitter. I'm looking forward to your posts.

    Amanda–Love your blog: http://www.not-really-southernvampchick.blogspot.com
Sports Wives Books One, Two, and Three revolve around Cassie Teller, the heroine in Love, Lust, and Scandal in Professional Football, Sexy is Never Ignored, and Lust Knows No Boundaries. Damaged Goods is Suzy Illiani's story, Cassie Teller's one-time best friend. Personally, I think someone beginning the series can just as easily pick up Book One or Book Four. After reading Damaged Goods, if you like what you read I hope you'll go back and pick up the first three. 🙂 Cassie's story varies greatly from Suzy's unfolding drama.

Angie–Thanks so much for stopping by today. I'll have more information about the random giveaway later. 🙂

Thanks for being here today, ladies!
