Welcome to a new week of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? This week’s topic pretty much jumped at our feet! It’s by pure chance that I saw a pretty review copy of Fool Moon on Netgalley and I knew I had to read it! I just couldn’t look away from such a pretty cover. So it was only logical that we would start talking about graphic novel covers with you today! We chose covers of series we know and loved/hated.

Susi: The Dresden cover is awesome. When I compare that to the usual old Dresden covers- let’S say it’s just wow. I have never read any of the Dresden books so I can’t say iof the guy fits the descriptions but well this cover is actually tempting me to give this series a try.
The Harrisson cover really rocks. It gives such a kick ass vibe. I love her pose and how the bike in the back gives the cover a great dynamic. LOVE it.
Becoming is more conflicting for me. I love the girl on an artistic level. But well her boob looks weird cut off like that and well the wolf in the back is so ´well MEH. How often do we have to look at that. I might be a bit sick of it. And well in all the cover is a bir bland.
Caro: *drools on Harry* Oh how I love the pretty cover of Full Moon! I have this HUGE crush on Harry and I was scared I’d hate how he was drawn, but nope, I like it! It’s pretty and the colors are appealing. I like how we see Karrin on one side.Harry seems to glow. Seriously Kuddos for this cover! I know I’m often picky but this one works for me!
I’m not sure what I think of the cover of Blood Work… I wish we saw Ivy’s face. It’s weird not to include her face since it’s a graphic novel and we’ll see her anyway. It looks a bit too polished. It’s like there was a list of things about this series and they included all the items just because! Motorcycle. Check. Leather clothes. Check. Cross. Check. Skinny bitch..ahem..I mean heroine….check! It’s not a bad cover but it’s lacking something special. Pretty to see but not enough.
The cover of Becoming grew on me.I can understand why you think it’s a bit bland. At first I thought it bland too but now I think it’s exactly what was needed. It’s simple but it sets the atmosphere for the book. I think I changed my mind when I read it. Simple but nice. And LOL about the wolf in the back being a recurrent theme. I’m not sure , but I think it’s her in wolf form (well either that or it’s Clay). If it’s her I think it’s fitting since the title is “Becoming”.
Caro: Funny thing is that when I saw the cover of volume 1 I thought it was a bit stupid with just Bella and her Medusa hair. But now that I see both covers side to side I NEARLY want to buy them too. LOL Hey I said nearly! Edward looks as weird as in the movies,. So yeah…single they suck. Combined it’’s not too bad. But hey, is it me of the grass seems greener on his side of the cover? 😉
Susi: I so don’t like the Twilight covers but I might do that cuz of all the buzz around those novels. Well they idea about those 2 covers fitting together is great. I don’t like the green though and they are both to greyish for my taste but well that’s what the books say. Just not my cup of tea. All that they make me think of is weird. LOL
Caro: Yes the buzz definitely killed it for me too =( (says the girl who went to see Breaking Dawn only yesterday) lol.

Caro: See, this is why it’s nice to see the whole series at a time. The cover of the first Dark Swan book wasn’t bad at all. Well ok I hate the black background that looks like they just forgot to add a background…but otherwise Eugenie looks pretty bad-ass and I would be tempted to read it. But now take a look at the other covers…O_O WTF is up with the cover of book 2???? O_O Eww. Cover #3 looks like a screenshot from World of Warcraft. Well maybe I’m being harsh but me not like-y much. I do like how fierce she looks on #3 and #4 but cover #2 really killed it for me. *shrug*

Susi: Bwahahahah the cover of book 2. It looks like devil horns come out of head. Ohhhhhhh the irony. LMAO And well yes first one looks like it is not done yet and book 3 is O_o WTF is that! Well I won’t read those. She lost me after book 2. *pouts*
Caro: It took me a while to get used to the cover of Homecoming. I thought it looked too dark and Mercy didn’t look like what I imagined. But again, I got used to it and I don’t dislike it anymore. Mercy looks closer to the book description that the model on the cover of the original novels.
I can’t help but like the cover of Moon Called volume 1. What a bad-ass!! Ok so maybe they could have gone with smaller boobs but oh well men will always be men *wink* The only thing I don’t like is the purple stripe with the title. I like how it has the same vibe as the cover of the novel.
Cover #3 scares me. Well better said, it’s creeping me out. Eww and O_O. No thank you. That’s all I say
Susi: I always think that Mercy looks a bit like a zombie on the Homecoming cover. Her complexion is soooo green and well. I like the cover of the first volume of Moon Called but I’m not sure: can mercy carry a wolf? And well yep her boobs are great <– bf said that LMAO I don’t like the third it’s boring. (bf agrees cuz no boobs *winks*)
Caro: LOL I knew your BF would like it! Hey if he looks closely in the eyes of the wolf you kinda see some boobies 😉 Indeed she does look zombie-like on the first cover. My main problem was with the demon eyed wolves. *shudder*
Caro’s Favorite: Fool Mooooooooon!!! ⇐ *squee* Harry *squee*
Least favorite: Volume 2 of Moon Called *shudders*
Susi’s Favorite: Blood Work
Least favorite: Dark Swan #3

@Blodeuedd Same here. That thought never occurred to me so far.

I love graphic novels, but I’m not fond of all those tie-in comics and books turned into graphic novels.

    • Susi November 22, 2011 at 2:43 pm

I have to admit that I never bought one besides the Disney ones as a kid. LOL

    • pattepoilue November 22, 2011 at 2:46 pm

I thought the same but I didn’t want to feel left out when there was a NEW story coming out only as graphic novel like the Kim Harrison one. So yeah I will read those!

I really don’t read any comics / spin offs of the books I love. I prefer seeing the characters in my head, and not like some manga or other cartoon.

I think I’m like you on that account. =)
