Book Blurb:

Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can’t tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven’t been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.

That’s when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.

Chicago’s mayor insists it’s nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She’ll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who’s behind this, and stop them before it’s too late for vampires and humans alike.

My Thoughts:
Before anything else,I need to state beforehand that in this review there will be some spoilers concerning the previous books in the series. So, if you haven’t still read, especially Hard Bitten, please proceed reading knowing that if you do,then you’ll know how Hard Bitten ends.

Having said that, you can’t imagine how I waited to get Drink Deep in my hands…Or, probably you can…After all, the ending of Hard Bitten had that effect I suppose to all its readers! And I’m more than glad to say, that it didn’t disappoint me in the least!

Drink Deep, takes place two months since the events of the last book and soon after the story begins, all hell breaks loose in Chicago… The lake turns black, the sky is all wrong and all in all, many problems need fixing and everyone blames vampires and of course Cadogan house is in the middle of all that!

I have to say, that all those problems and the heavy plot, worked in advantage for the story for me.That way, my mind was occupied the whole time and I managed to forget for a good part of the book my one crucial question: “Where’s Ethan????????”

Even if Ethan is absent,in the worst manner may I add as well, Neill manages to keep reminding him to us through Merit. She hasn’t forgotten him and she isn’t exactly ready to move on and I loved to see her copying with the aftereffects of Ethan’s death.

And the aftereffects are major for everyone in this book.Merit isn’t only trying to move on in her life, she has also to cope with the GP intrusion in her house. With which let me just say I was totally mad and frustrated…And not only with the GP but also with characters I used to really love in previous books… Mallory was inexcussable in everything she did, and although I appreciate the turning of events, I can’t help but be angry with her and the way she acted towards Merit.Catcher falls into the same category I’m afraid. They both had their excuses, but that doesn’t make me feel less angry toward them.Coming to think about it, I feel almost as frustrated as I felt while reading The 5th Harry Potter book. Not that much frustrated but quite enough…

The plot was a bit slow at times and I was a little bit tired through the first half but the second was that much better that I soon forgot my reservations!

And one last thing before I end this review…I really loved Jonah in this book!I certainly don’t want him to end up with Merit but I can appreciate a perfectly good and hot character regardless!I just loved everything about him!

And now,I’ll have to wait for almost a year for the next book….And things just began to get interesting by the end of Drink Deep

PhotobucketI give Drink Deep 4 stars

One of the most memorable scenes for me in this book was when she laid in his bed. I cried and cried.

I’m waiting for the next installment of this series this summer. I want to get more facts about what happened to Ethan and is he going to stay “normal”?

Hi Anna, yours is the first positive review I have read about this book I believe. I still have to start reading it, and the anger readers been having about this book and the previous one, really puts me of.

Don’t let anyone put you off Aurian. Whether you’ll like a book or not, is a matter of taste. But believe me when I say that if you reach the 4th book of the series you’ll either want to grab this one immediately or you’ll want to forget about reading these books ever.

I really need to start this series, lucky enough for me I have book one on my shelf.

I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the series, thanks for the great review.
