The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me?

Welcome to our new edition of The Good The Bad and the Are-you-Kidding-me? You must be wondering how we decide on which topic to make each of our post about…okay maybe you’re not wondering…it’s a real mystery to us too! Let’s take today for example…I’m not sure how we ended up deciding we should talk about Yellow Historical covers! It’s a miracle but hopefully entertaining enough. *wink*
On a side note I should mention Yellow is a favorite color of mine *g*

Susi: The first thing I always notice on historical romance covers is the swirly font. They usually all look the same and that really annoys me. I like the contrast of the yellow dress and the blue background on the Bond …

Too much of a good thing…

With her long ponytail and sparkling green eyes, Tessa Donovan looks more like the girl next door than a businesswoman—or a heartbreaker. Which may explain why Detective Luke Asher barely notices her when he arrives to investigate a break–in at her family’s brewery. He’s got his own problems—starting with the fact that his partner, Simone, is pregnant and everyone thinks he’s the father.

Tessa has her hands full, too. Her brother’s playboy ways may be threatening the business, and the tension could tear her tight–knit family apart. In fact, the only thing that could unite the Donovan boys is seeing a man come after their …

We are very happy to welcome author J. A. Saare here at Book Lovers Inc today.  Her latest novel, The Renfield Syndrome, book 2 in her Rhiannon’s Law series is released today and she is here to tell us why her characters always have a special name. Please give Jaime a warm welcome and don’t forget to leave a comment to win a book.

First—thanks for having me by the blog. It’s a pleasure to be here!

When I was asked to write about the importance of character names, I giggled. Why? Because I have a book that is a running joke for some readers. Disco, Paine, Goose—really? Where is Iceman? How about Maverick? I get that a lot. In retrospect I should have name them Dhisco, Phaine, and Ghoose. I would have made a killing. *grin*

We are very happy to welcome Ann Mayburn here at Book Lovers Inc today. I met Ann on twitter and she is such a wonderful funny person I just had to get her over here. Her newest release, Emerald Moon, book 2 in her Prides of the Moon series will be released tomorrow and she is here to ask us a question. Be sure to answer the question in the comments for your chance to win the first 2 books. Please give Ann a warm welcome.

Are You a Cat Person or a Dog Person?

Cat or dog shifters that is. 😉 I’ve always loved shifter stories, something about getting in touch with your inner animal appeals to me on a base level. It’s more than just being able to change form, it’s about becoming that creature, reverting to a more …

Guestpost: "A Ghost Romance? Say it ain’t so!" by Julia Rachel Barrett + Giveaway

I’m very happy to welcome the wonderful Julia Rachel Barrett here at Book Lovers Inc today. She just recently published her first ghost story, Incorporeal, a heartbreakingly good romance that will grab you from page one and not let you go till the end. This book was a real pleasure to read. And guess what, today she will tell us about trying to sell Incorporeal and she even brought a copy along for one lucky commenter. So keep the comments coming, you don’t want to miss this one.

When I pitched the outline of a ghost romance to three different publishers, they brushed me off before I could complete a single sentence.

“A ghost romance won’t sell. Nobody wants to read about an incorporeal hero.”

Incorporeal?

Those out of hand rejections shaped my story and provided a title. You know, we …

The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me?

Welcome back! This week we’ve decided to try and take a look at Italian covers. We thought the covers would reflect Italy’s beauty but we were sadly a bit disappointed. Instead of eternal beauty and timelessness we found clichés and well…you will see for yourself. Be sure to let us know what you think about our selections.

Caro: O_O Well first I don’t find the cut out faces to be very attractive in the first place but if you add the weird “hey my make-up is running” part it’s just plain weird.

I like the Nalini cover. The wings are for once original. It’s simple but good. (also i have a secret thing for curly-longish hair on a man) <==that’s a man right? …
