Welcome to the last The Good-The-Bad-and-the-Are-You-Kidding-Me? post of the year! Since 2011 will soon be over, it’s time to look back on our favorite covers of 2011. So here we are, we’ll give you our Top 3!! It wasn’t easy to just choose 3 and I’m pretty sure if you’d asked again in a week I’d have a different selection! =P We hope you’ll tell us your Top 3 too! *g* Also we’re curious to know what you’d like publishers to change for 2012, more half-naked men? Less headless models? Tell us what you’d want to see changed. =) Our 3 favorite covers of 2011:

Caro’s Top 3:

Susi: First I wanted to take that first cover too so yes I agree it’s gorgeous- love it too pieces That guy is just yummy. *tries not to lick the screen* The Judith James one is nice but well historical covers aren’t often my taste. i adore the Kisri one. Love the pose, the colors and all.

Caro: I think the cover of The Perfect Play speaks for itself. *g* NOM. It’s one of these books I read BECAUSE of the cover LOL It doesn’t hurt that the book was great! I adore the Judith James cover, It’s different from usual historical romances. I just love it. It’s so sensual and for once, not too cheesy *g*. The model on the cover of Kisri is sooo sparkly (in a non virgin vampire way) and pretty. I love it even though I keep wondering if the guy behind her can see her butt crack! LOL

Susi’s Top 3:

Susi: Yum yum yum- I want an golden alien dude like that. enough said! I like the atmosphere of the Grave Dance Cover. And the contrast of the green corset top is just great. Looks even prettier in real. And well I’m a Tony Mauro fangirl and that cover is just perfect. it even made my smartphone prettier for a while. Adore it.

Caro:Well I like the cover of the Gena book but something’s…off. Don’t get me wrong he has a freaking awesome body but the weird hair looks…well weird. LOL Still nice though. I ain’t completely sold by the cover of Grave Dance. It’s nice but altogether easily forgettable. I think it’s because of the colors. Just meh. Awesome cover for Archangel’s Consort. I love it everything about it!

What’s your TOP 3 covers for 2011? If you feel like it you can also give us your Top 3 of the Worst covers of 2011? If you could choose a good resolution for publishers about their new 2012 covers what would you want it to be? Any theme on covers you’re sick of? Something you’d want to see more?

I love your picks girls! I don’t really have favourite covers, I admire them and then I forget them, shrug. But I really would like more heads on the covers, but I will always enjoy half naked men, preferably with a tattoo and/or a sword …

    • Susi December 19, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Yum…these Play by Play covers have a special place on my shelves. *g*

    • pattepoilue December 20, 2011 at 1:01 pm

Ah swords! Yes those always go well with half naked men *g*

  • blodeuedd December 19, 2011 at 3:50 pm

I want to see heads! No freaking bodies chopped at the shoulders and halfheads. i just want faces.

As for my pick…hm, must think about that

    • Anna December 19, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I’m with you on the heads thing. It’s kind of creepy to chop of the head, though in some cases I find myself not minding in most I’d like to see a head along with the body 🙂

      • Susi December 19, 2011 at 4:27 pm

Well i usually don’t like that either BUT when the face is all wrong in my eyes I would rather not see it.

    • Susi December 19, 2011 at 4:28 pm

Can’t wait to hear what you come up with. 😉

    • pattepoilue December 20, 2011 at 1:03 pm

I have to agree with Susi here! I’d rather have a headless body than a face that won’t be right for the character. And it leaves more to the imagination to gloss over the details *g*

All those half naked dudes don’t do it for me. So if those kind of covers disappeared I wouldn’t shed a tear.

The Guild Hunter covers are indeed cool, but my favorite covers are still those by Daniel dos Santos.

    • Susi December 20, 2011 at 3:30 am

Okay true. Santos rocks too. Gah, see, already want to change my choice. >.<

    • pattepoilue December 20, 2011 at 1:04 pm

For me it depends on the cover. I’ll agree with you that some covers with half naked bodies are so bland and all the same it’s easy to forget them. I need a little something more to make it stick in my mind

I’m sick of looking at women’s backs. There should be a resolution to find a more creative pose for book cover heroines rather than just, “Here’s a girl standing there with her back turned.”

I don’t know what my top picks would be, but I agree that the cover for Archangel’s Consort is awesome!

    • Susi December 20, 2011 at 3:31 am

i so know what you mean.

    • pattepoilue December 20, 2011 at 1:06 pm

Yeah I agree . BUT on the other end I can’t get tired of covers with the hero’s back showing. *g* Nom nom

  • LSUReader December 20, 2011 at 1:42 pm

I can’t argue with your choices. You both chose some nice ones.

My three favorites of 2011 are Archangel’s Blade (Nalini Singh,) What I Did for a Duke (Julie Anne Long,) and First Grave on the Right (Darynda Jones.)

    • pattepoilue December 20, 2011 at 1:44 pm

Ohhhh I forgot What I did for a Duke!!!!! Damn it could very well be my #4.

      • LSUReader December 20, 2011 at 2:07 pm

Ok, but then Susi gets to have a #4, too!

        • pattepoilue December 22, 2011 at 11:15 am

Mouhahahaah or let’s not tell her and I can grab her 4th spot for one of mine LOL 😉

  • Mary Kirkland December 21, 2011 at 5:54 pm

I’m tired of the headless torso’s…I really wish publishers would stop doing that. It reminds me of a horror movie. lol I want to see a face…I love eyes.

I love eyes too 🙁 but the models aren’t often right enough to pull it off. I don’t know. I’m weird like that LOL.
