Let’s Celebrate Christmas… in July!

Hey Everyone!

In case you think we are nuts (we are, but that’s a different story for another day 😉 lol) for being in such a festive mood let me tell you that Christmas in July is a real thing as our friends from the Southern hemisphere (*waves to Amanda the Winged Lover*) and even Wikipedia can tell you. But to make you feel better I just learned that recently as well. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been celebrating or getting in the Christmas-mood before that. Let me share with you a confession.

You might remember that I am a huge Christmas fan. A true Christmasaholic. As soon as Christmas is over and January rolls around (yes, because in my family we celebrate Christmas until Dec 29-30 usually we have so many aunts and uncles and family friends to visit) I can’t wait for it to be Christmas again! yep 😀 So knowing this, it isn’t that surprising that once the days and weeks and months go by, I usually find myself humming Christmas carols and songs in the blistering July heat. How many times have I realized with shock that I was humming Let It Snow and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree while walking in a sundress in scorching 32 C degrees in the city? Too many to count. 😉 So yes, I’m one of those people who missing the festivities have instinctively thought and celebrated a bit of Christmas in the middle of summer. And now to discover that it is a legitimate thing can’t wait to whip up a summer-y Christmas drink and listen to some of my favourite holiday songs, because whether it is hot or cold, we can feel like it’s Christmas now, don’t you think?

So Merry Christmas in July to everyone else who’d like to celebrate a bit in the middle of their summer vacation! 😉

    Stella–
I love Christmas in July–and all year long! I frequently hum or sing Christmas carols at off times during the year. I have a small, potted evergreen tree in my den year round–though it isn’t decorated for Christmas just yet. And I read Christmas books out of season, as well. Fun post. Thanks.

Yay! good to know I’m not the only one wishing for Christmas mood in summer 😉

I used to love Xmas before I started working retail….Merry Xmas!!!

Haha. I haven’t worked retail in quite awhile, and I definitely don’t think I’d have the stamina for Christmas anymore. It’s brutal!

And Christmas in July in the US is mainly an excuse for vendors to run sales in the middle of summer when shopping might not otherwise be in the front of people’s minds. But maybe I’ll turn up the AC and have a cup of cocoa! 🙂

In Europe it is completely unheard of, so no mention of it in the radio/shops, just summer sales 😉

Ugh, Even as a customer/shopper I hate the craziness Christmas brings out in people, can’t imagine having to work in that chaos, so respect to everyone who suffered that!

        Two words: Black Friday.

It is black because it is soul death. NEVER AGAIN.
